Absolute PleasureIt was an absolute pleasure staying at this hotel!! The moment I arrived and was greeted by Craig with a free coffee (you never see that anymore something for free) I was made to feel very welcome!! I had a very relaxing stay at this hotel !! The restaurant's and bars are a 15 mins walk away!! The rooms are well decorated but the room I had was a little dated & basic(but what do you expect from a Victorian villa) In the morning you are greeted with a smile and the service you receive is second to none. Well done lads!!!!!!!

Great little gem of a place we loved it, i have difficulty walking and was a little concerned about it being to much for me but i was fine there were plenty of buses and the taxis were fine.

Weekend awayThis hotel/guest house was absolutely lovely! The service was brilliant and the surroundings were breathtaking. The hot tub was lovely addition. Definitely worth the five star status.

We had a lovely stay at the Marstan over New Year and would not hesitate to stay again, Ian and Craig were great hosts and nothing was too much trouble, very attentive but not intrusive, the breakfasts were well cooked, presented and plentiful. Bar was cosy and Craig was very informative and entertaining. finally on New Years day we got to chill and relax in the Hot Tub with wine served by the genial host. Thank you guys, enjoy Mexico and the well earned rest and we`ll see you again in the summer.

The owners are very friendly and make you feel welcome the moment you walk into the hotel. Nothing is too much and the food is mouth watering. Our expectations were defiantly exceeded and you can see they have taken the time to go that extra mile to ensure your stay is an enjoyable one. Our room was of a very high standard along with the rest of the hotel decoration and furnishings. If you want posh, you got it but in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. Thank you so very much, we will be back in the summer to take a plunge in the pool and a dip in the hot tub. Top class. xxx

Lovely small five star hotel. excellent quality room, bed very comfortable, wonderful quality sheets. Breakfast was excellent and the service was faultless. There was a pool and hot tub which we were unable to use due to the weather. Great positon for walking to town or coastal walks. If i have any negative feedback it would be the fact that there was a bar but on returning at 10.30 it was closed. We did however order drinks by room service which was no trouble. Dont book thinking this has the atmosphere of a hotel as it is either a very good quality guest house or very small hotel. I did also pay more booking on late rooms than i could have through their own website.

We found the owners very friendly and helpful. Great comfortable room but not really a 5 star hotel. More like 3 or at best 4 star. No complaints, just not as expected with all the praise and great reviews the place gets. Having stayed at a number of 3 4 and 5 star hotels this was definitely like a good 3 star and I really cannot understand how they have a 5 star rating.

10 mins walk from town centre, and 2 or 3 from meadfoot beach. Bed & breakfast (breakfast very nice) No evening meal but friendly and knowledgable hosts have prepared a list of local restaurants, with their reviews to guide you (tried one - not cheap, but lovely food) Swimming pool in garden, plus hot tub. Small bar inside, and lovely lounge and breakfast room. Good base to go out day-tripping from

I can't rate this hotel high enough - the welcome was warm with refreshments offered on arrival; the genuine warmth and caring attitude offered to all guests is second to none, our room was airy, clean and comfortable. The hotel is situated within a 10 min walk into Torquay's centre, we managed the slopes, but I have to say that this is probably not suitable for more elderly people, although the taxi fare is only £4 so is affordable. Within 3 mins in the other direction is the local beach which is a pebble beach with a very pleasant cafe serving hot and cold food.

Very friendly hotel, immedietaly greeted at the door, and given all the information we needed for our pleasant 2 night stay. The hotel is very traditional with original features. Also has a lovely outdoor hot-tub to unwind in. Very easy to find as well.

We found our stay very relaxing in an informal and friendly environment. The owners were extremely welcoming and accomodating and the interior of the building itself is exquisit. Our room was number one on the ground floor, next to the entrance and the bar, which means if you go to bed fairly early or like to sleep in, you may find this will be slightly disrupted (but that's also if you're a light sleeper). We found the pillows to be slightly hard and considered whether mentioning this at all for this review, but with a five star rating and the price, we thought it best to mention. That said, the owners were so nice we didnt feel to trouble them to change them although i m sure, they would have if asked. Overall, highly recommended if but a little pricey.
