i have enjoyed my time there staying there as working in gunwarf near by been there since start of may stay for 5 days each week nearly 2 months now ive been there had a great time so far, not a place to take your missus thou but if you make then effort to get on with the locals then your stay will be better, otherwise you will drink by yourself, great breakfast sets you up for the day

The accommodation section of the hotel was adequate but the bar was untidy with the back entrance to the hotel filled with garbage, old poker machine, etc. There was also some confusion about the number of people staying as when booked it was specified 2 people but came up as one room required .

You get what you pay forOur first impression of the place was not good judt another back street pub. The Bar Staf were friendly and helpful especially giving directions to various places in town. The double room that we had booked three weekes earlier were two single beds. The room was very clean, adequate, the bathroom and shower good but the TV didnt work. However, for £40 for the two of us it was in my eyes a bargain esp as breakfast was also included.

0This accommodation proved to be disgusting. The building itself was in a very delapidated condition with a large broken window. On entering the property my first impression was to run! The man behind the bar preferred to answer the telephone rather than greet my husband and myself. He told us not to be concerned with regard to the appearance of the property but the upstairs would be better. The upstairs proved to be no better! The room was dirty, the linen although laundered was badly stained; there was no bed head, the bed rested against a wall and moved everytime we moved. The bathroom was disgraceful, the shower head had at least a quarter of an inch of limescale, and the whole room was really not fit for habitation. We did not stay for breakfast, we could not face eating in such an awful place. If we could have obtained accommodation elsewhere we would have and needless to say we cancelled our booking for the 30 June 2009. I do not think you should be offering this type of accommodation on your web site.

ImpressionsThe hotel is a pub with about 13 rooms. It is basic and in need of refurbishment. The staff are however very helpful and friendly and for the £25/night I paid is offers reasonable value. Its location leads to a lot of traffic noise in the rooms nearest to the main road but other rooms farther away are better. The rooms are kept reasonable clean and are comfortable enough although there was evidence of the drainage being inefficient with sinks tending to block up. The showers worked ok but could do with some maintenance. I would probably be unhappy to pay more than the £25/night for the rooms I occupied.

If you like hard beds with springs proding your back, dirty floors and doors which only close with a slam this is the place for you.

You get what you pay forThe room was comfortable and warm and the shower worked well and was hot. Facilities for tea and coffee making was available in the room. Towel was clean. I had the 'best' room (number 2) which was furthest away from the bar and the road. The owner and staff (bar man and cleaner/cook) were very friendly.I had a good night's sleep and a good shower and adequate (I don't eat full English) breakfast. The hotel is not in the most attractive part of town and a long way from luxurious. On arrival I was greeted by the friendly bar tender and a rather intoxicated customer in the bar. It was $25 per night... You get what you pay for.

Strange experienceThe televisions didn't work (I tried two). The room wasn't cleaned during my three day stay, despite clumps of dust on the floor. The bed was very comfortable, and the staff were very willing to try to help if they could.

Great bar staff, be more selective on customer once face lift givenExcellant Customer service by the bar staff, although whole pub needs face lift and selective customers needs to be evaluated.

SurpriseWe were agreably surprised by the facilities and cleanliness of our en-suite twin room and the breakfast more than made up for the rather unexpected customers in the bar!The staff were friendly and welcoming.

For the price the location is goodNot a bad B&B stayed in worse that have cost more. Other than a bit if dust in a corner and a cigarette butt in the draw the room was clean and comfy if the cheap mattress did make sleep a bit hard. Walking distance to continental port (5 mins) First historical land site only 3 mins away and the historical docks are 20 mins walk. Leave the car at the hotel some interesting thing to see on the walk to the historical docks.

Toilets are not really good and windows are not maintained properly. Not ideal for families. But it is worth for money if groups are staying.

Our Stay at Market House TavernThe Pub was virtually stockless devoid of customers and dingy,so perhaps it is reliant on the b&b side to stay open. Although I had confirmed my booking the week previous in person and watched it be entered in the book, my double room had been given to someone else and we were given a twin instead luckily it was en-suite still it was a room. If you like a quiet night dont go here as a combination of Traffic noise and passers bye shouting and other guests which must have included a herd of elephants kept us awake all night. the only saving grace was the good breakfast
