Steeped in dramatic history and totally hospitable, the charming 14th century Manor House Hotel and Mews Cottages combine 21st century comforts, fine food, a battalion of friendly staff and unique touches that turn a simple break into a serious treat. The gossip is not all about our new arrival, Chef Davies, it's the whole deal; a superior setting, a wonderful experience and more people discovering it.Named after the river crossing the estate, Bybrook is an elegant restaurant affording some of the finest views across stunning gardens and woodland. Befitting the gorgeous Manor, the restaurant maintains plenty of grand original features including occasional stained glass windows and carved stone work. A superb and varied al-a-carte menu and guest gourmet suppers make it the perfect venue for lunch or dinner

A real manor house in beautiful grounds in one of the most scenic villages in England. Amazing bathrooms. Perfect for a romantic weekend.

Short stay in Castle CombeThe hotel was excellent, the location is perfect for a quiet and relaxing stay, everything went very smoothly. The room was very clean and comfortable and the staff were helpful and polite. I really enjoyed my stay. Highly recommended! Unfortunately the breakfast was not included in our price and it was a bit expensive, but excellent nonetheless!

Tremendous for a weekendThere is nothing I can fault about this hotel and although it is expensive it is good value for the experience. Very friendly staff. Excellent rooms. We had a standard room which feature four poster bed, his and hers wash basins, a double bath, exposed beams and good furniture. Restaurant is pricey but large with well seperated tables. Food is Michelin 1* and was great.

This was the 2nd time we had stayed at the Manor House. Whilst overall we enjoyed our stay I was dissapointed in a number of things from our last stay a year ago. This time we couldn't get a room in the main house and I booked a Junior Suite (Longleaze) in one of the cottages. This turned out to have an excellent bathrrom but the room itself was certainly not a suite, just a normal sized Hotel room. Amazingly, the room didn't have a mini bar, the only room refreshements being Tea & Coffe. If I wanted biscuits with my Tea I would have to call room service! The main problem with our room was the intrusive noise from the room upstairs, you could hear every word of conversation from our "neighbours" and becuase there was a wedding at the hotel, this went on until the early hours. Then in the morning we were woken up at 6am by vehicles driivng past the cottage which has it's bedroom right by the road and being a very old building it has no double glazing. So we were left feeling very tired instead of nicely rested which is not what you want for your wedding anniversary! The last time we stayed here we both agreed we had the best meal of our lives in the dining room. Sadly the same could not be said this time, despite the chef recently being awarded a michelin star. The food was still excellent but nothing that justified the almost doubling in price from the last time we stayed. Our meal cost was nearly £200 for two when last year it was just over £100, I think the michelin star has come at a price to the consumer. In addition, the portions were so small I had to eat provisions from the days shopping in nearby Bath when I returned to our room. I actually cancelled my meal reservation for the second night so that tells it's own tale. However, the attending staff were all exceptional. The positives were the staff who were helpful, polite and attentitive to the right level and of course the beautiful Manor House and surrounding gardens and village. In short, if we do come back ag

The food was amongst the best dining experiences that we have had. The wine choosen for each course complimented each dish perfectly. If Richard does not get a Michelin Star there is NO justice.

This hotel was fantastic and well worth the money. The room was excelent and possibly one of the nicest that we have ever stayed in, with a massive four poster bed and glorious bathroom. The staff were helpful and mindful of our young baby and offer services such as valet parking which is not often seen in other hotels. There is no doubt that we will return to The Manor House.

I booked this hotel on the morning of departure as a birthday surprise for my wife. It was the best-received present I could have given. The welcome was fulsome, the surroundings idyllic, the room charming and the dinner and breakfast first-class.All-in-all we rate The Manor at Castle Combe amongst the top hotels we've stayed in and excellent value for money.

The room a liitle outbuilding away from the main Manor was a perfect combination of old world charm with period features combined with amazing modern lighting and nice touches like the huge walk in shower. Perfect for a romanic weekend away. We arrived early and were offered a room to get changed in to allow us to go out as our room was not ready - all no trouble and with a smile. The only negative is that Main Manor House interior is in need of re-decoration I was glad we were not in the room we used to get changed. Expensive but for a special occasion this is a lovely hotel.

The food in the restaurant was wonderful, one of the best meals I've ever had, but the room service was terrible. It says 24hours but wasn't and everything we ordered was cold. The room was huge and lovely, but it had a very old television that squeaked and no DVD player.

Absolutly lovely, will certainly go back again. Couldn't really fault it!

I marked down the quality of the room, not because there was anything wrong with it but more because i thought that the furnishings were looking a bit dated. It may be that i am in a more contemporary mood at the moment. If you do refurb then I would recommend a more contempoary minimilist style. Otherwise I thought that the hotel was lovely. The dining room and quality of the food and waiters was really good, thank you.

From the moment the electric gates swing open to welcome you to the time you leave, the staff were faultless and very helpful. The rooms are compact but full of style and attention to detail. Grounds and location close to the village make this a real country retreat treat. No hesitation in recommending this hotel for a special weekend away.

Stunning looking hotel and room which was only temporarily spoilt by a rather large family of flying ants living in the bathroom of our original room in the mews cottages. We were quickly and efficiently moved to a superior room which made the stay even more enjoyable. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel without a second thought.

Finding the hotel was more tricky than expected, and the directions given by the hotel to Bath were not correct.

Lovely setting, lovely rooms and excellent staff make The Manor House well worth staying in as a romantic treat.Their full afternoon tea is pricey-but-excellent.DO NOT order the champagne and chocolates as a romantic arrival gift: this hotel extra is horribly overpriced (you get a half-sized bottle of pink champers and six - count 'em - Belgian chocs). Bring your own and order a bucket of ice!

Really nice hotel, staff was really nice and we even got a free upgrade. An exellent weekend and even got engaged
