Great Resort, so many activities for kids to do. Fantastic pools, very spacious apartments and close enough to city without being city centre. Would thoroughly recommend. Will return again.

It is indeed a lovely resort to stay. We spent 4 nights in an one bedroom apartment, which is well equipped. The resort itself is a beautiful small town with all necessary facilities. You never have to walk too far to get a pool. Resort staffs are nice and helpful too. Planes are not a problem for us (we did read some complaints from other resident before we went there though) The only setback is that there is no internet connection in the room,,, but nothing can be that perfect after all.

Great resort - beautiful pools. Perfect for families & kids. Not in the best location - very close to airport so you can hear the planes take off, and a bit far out of the city to walk. Suggest staying in a top floor apartment as you can hear the people of above you when they are moving around.

My husband and I travelled to Cairns for 3 days, 2 nights. When we got there, we were shocked at the very close proximity to the Cairns International Airport. All evening, all night - we heard planes taking off. I am an extrememly heavy sleeper, but still got awakened at around 5am due to planes. The cycle repeated itself at night with midnight flights. Also, we were given a room above the Restaurant/Bar area. We thought that since there is a curfew on the bar, that patrons- or at least management- would respect the rules. However, by midnight, there were still some very loud revellers shouting. When I called the Front Office to complain, they sounded puzzled as to why I was calling. On our second night, this pattern repeated itself. But then, it got worse when the people in the suite above us made so much noise by bouncing balls and playing games on the hotel floor until 1 a.m. Both my husband & I called the Front Office 4x to complain. Each time, they said they would send Security to "check it out." But the noise didn't subside until after 1a.m. Upon checkout, I complained to the Manager about our disturbances and she seemed non-apologetic. In fact, she even admitted that they regularly get alot of complaints from guests staying in that part of the hotel because of its proximity to the Bar/Canteen area. Aside from the very noisy issues, the hotel compound itself is pretty. But as other posters have written, it's quite far from the city center. There is basically nothing worthwhile within walking distance. If you don't have a car, you're at the mercy of their shuttle which stops running at 6p.m Overall, my husband and I were EXTREMELY disappointed with the Lake Cairns. We will never go back.

I am alway disappointed that when you stay for longer stays you are only entitled to a weekly clean considering we are paying by the night not a weekly fee I think that servicing of the apartment should be daily or at the very least every second day. Since being on holidays we do not have the luxury of a fully stocked cleaning cupboard.

i had a excellent time at this hotel. The hotel is lovely the pools are great. Althought the hotel is some distance from the city centre about 20 min walk they have a shuttle bus service. They however have a number of good resturants in the hotel complex. The beatuy of this place is that it is not near the hussle and bussle of the city centre of carins and a taxi ride only costs about $10. A must see is the botanical gardens situated next door to the hotel

"My husband and I enjoyed our stay in Cairns. This is definitely the place to go in Australia. The Lakes offered wonderful apartment-style living. Marble countertops, spacious living room, washer/dryer, tubs w/jets, balcony and on site pools/restaurants. We were very comfortable. The maid service came in daily to offer more laundry detergent or put away dishes. We really needed the washer/dryer with the snorkeling and outdoor activities that were available. In all, it was a wonderful stay I would recommend highly to anyone. Location is a taxi ride to the night market."
