My family and I(3 children, 2 adults) had the best time in Edinburgh and The Knight Residence made it even better. We were met by the very wonderful Mr. Chris when we arrived and he promptly took us to our rooms...which had been upgraded from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom! He showed us around the apartment and all the amenities there....microwave, dishwasher, cooking utensils and best of all, for a family with children, the washing machine....with washing powder provided. The rooms were big and very comfortable with spotless bathrooms. You can choose if housekeeping is needed or not. Chris pointed out to us useful places like Sainbury's and Tesco, all a short distance away, if we ever need essentials. While there are 2 or 3 strip bars round the corner, those didn't bother us and we ignore them. Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, the Grassmarket area are all within walking distance. KR definitely made our time in Edinburgh that more special and memorable and we would definitely stay here if we're in Edinburgh again.

FabulousI was 1 of a group of 5 girls staying at the Knights Residence for a weekend break. On arrival the concierge was extremely friendly and helpful. He carried our bags to our room and explained everything to us. The flat was clean and very well equiped with a lovely breakfast basket, milk, bread and butter and tea, coffee and sugar. The bathroom had a good range of toiletries, the bedrooms had lovely linen and there were white bath robes for each person. One of the showers was broken on arrival which we reported and someone came immediately to check it but unfortunately the plumber could not get the part over the weekend which was inconvenient with 5 girls needing to get ready. On leaving the concierge was more than accommodating. All in all we were delighted with the Knights residence and the staff and would definately recommend it. We had a fabulous time and we all felt that our custom was important to them.

The Knight Residence was absolutely superb in every respect. I was so worried about finding an affordable (but comfortable) hotel in Edinburgh. My parents were over from America, so they have a somewhat higher standard of comfort. Instead of booking two separate double rooms, we had one flat to share as a family at a very reasonable price (no need to collect a key across town from an office they have staff on-site). First, the staff is unbelievably nice. The concierge was friendly and helpful, and the cleaning staff was obliging (still cleaning our flat daily even though we are very late risers!). Second, the flat itself is brand new and equipped with washer/dryer, DVD, WiFi, high standard bathrooms, full kitchen. They also give you a little stash of tea/coffee/cereal/milk to start you out on when you arrive. The beds were comfortable, and all of the linen (even plush bathrobes) was replaced daily if requested. Lastly, the location was closer than ever to the touristy bits without being in the thick of it (my older non-walking parents were impressed). In the past, I have stayed in another hotel in Edinburgh that was just as nice, but not as relaxing and twice the price. Keep in mind, there is construction on the street so try to reserve a room that will not be affected by the noise. One complaint: the room was advertised as two queen rooms, which technically was correct, but the beds were actually arranged as 1 queen and 2 twin beds.

The Knight Residence is an excellent facility with secure car parking which is a big bonus in Edinburgh. I stayed in a superior apartment which was like a home from home. The facilities were excellent and the little attention to detail really made our stay e.g full bottle of milk in fridge, plentiful breakfast supplies including a loaf of bread. The concierges attention was excellent and even gave us a tour of the room which had a fantastic view of the castle, although disappointingly the view will be lost soon due to the construction of a office across the road. The reason i have marked location as average is that it is in the centre of the lap dancing bars, so there were a lot of leery men hanging around from 7pm onwards, a bit disconcerting for my girlfriend. Actual location to all the major attractions is excellent with a 5 minute walk to Princes Street and the Grassmarket. Please don't let the location put you off as these apartments are excellent.

Too NoisyThe accomodation was immaculate, the service excellent, however i was staying in room #10 which overlooked Laurison street where major building work was going on.I went there for a quiet break from Thurs,Fri,and Sat nights however the noise was too much and left Saturday morning,i complained of the noise as they were still working at 8pm Friday night. So all in all not a pleasant stay,it may have been different if the room was overlooking the car park

A home away from homeThe rooms were small but lovely, with comfy beds and high quality appliances. The kitchen was well equipped with crockery and the hamper was a kind and welcoming touch, with all the basics for breakfast. The decor is fine, but not the designer minimalist favoured by most modern hotels - a little more 80's than that. The customer service was excellent - you were greeted each and every time you arrived in the building. Arriving on valentine's weekend we found two beautiful chocolate hearts in our room. We would definitely stay here again on long weekends. The only drawback was the neighbourhood, as noted by others, but while I would not want to be a lone female returning to this location, as a family it was not a problem.

Nice apartment, good kitchen but no microwave, two decent bedrooms, one of the beds was amazingly comfortable! nice a clean, two decent sofas, decent tv, dining table. everything you want is there. just had one problem, couldnt get any hot water from the bath, and the shower was not that powerful i.e. it would have been better getting the dog to lick me clean!

Good location, service was excellent and apartment and bed were comfortable. I would certainly stay here again. The lower 'ratings' reflect my partners comments that she thought some parts of the accomodation were a bit old fashioned & drab. Not my opinion - I thought it was fine.

Knight residence is very close to the Grassmarket yet far enough away from the centre of town to avoid the majority of revellers. With young children we were back inside relatively early in the evening - so the proximity to 3 strip bars did not really pose a problem. Hotel service itself was outstanding as we were greeted at the door by Chris the concierge who took the time to show us round the apartment and explain how everything worked. Facilities in the room were fantastic, cereals, bread, milk, tea / coffee was all included. Diswasher, washing machine and tablets / powders all there. The kids were given activity packs and cudly souvenirs. Nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended. Off street secure parking, even on the day we checked out - just picked up the car when we were ready to leave. Only downside was the building site right across the road which may be noisy mid week - nothing was ongoing at the weekend so did not affect us.

We found the accommodation to be great, spacious, clean, warm. Great location to walk to all attractions.Inclusive car parking was a definate plus. The staff were extremly helpful. The only downside was the two lap dancing bars at the end of the street which I feel lowered the tone of the areaand aren't great to walk by when coming back in the evening with young children.

The decor of the apartment was initially quite dated but in saying that, the facilities from internet access in the hallway to my own private parking and concierge with helpful information was great. The dvd library was good and the general location was a short walk away from town. Sure there were building works when I stayed but that didnt dampen my stay at all!

I cannot recommend this place more highly. It was a home from home. Staff were REALLY helpful, apartment was very clean. A complimentary basket with t-bags coffee cereal milk bread butter and juice was left for us and information on the area. We forgot our laptop but that was no problem as there is free internet access from the office and printing facilities. I really was impressed. We are used to staying in 4 and 5 star hotels but after this we are converted to apartment living. Fab! One negative but wasn't a problem to us is that it is very near to 3 or 4 lap dancing clubs. They are discreet though and we did not feel in any way nervous at night. I give Knight Residence 5 out of 5 and Charlie too who welcomed us and bent over backwards to help out with all our questions.

An excellent apartment hotel within easy walking distance of the centre. You have the choice of your own kichen or using one of the nearby resturants. The concierge was very helpful and knowledgeable.
