Hudson HotelBooked the Hudson as was decent value on Laterooms and looked quite upmarket. The Superior Double was small but clean but a little dowdy, being at the front of the hotel it was also noisy.Overall it was fine but I would look for an alternative next time I'm in Edinburgh.

Fabulous location and nice staff, along with a great bar / restaurant. It had some key negatives however - particularly for a hotel that's not particularly cheap. The lack of airconditioning was a nightmare - it wasn't even warm in Edinburgh but the rooms were very hot and stuffy. The plug in fan provided was so noisy it was impossible to use overnight. SEcond negative was the bed - when booking a queen bed in a Club standard room that's what you should receive - not two single beds pushed together that don't even match up well. It was very uncomfortable and not right for a hotel in this price range. Also, getting laundry done takes two days - far cheaper places can turn it around on the same day. Overall, the hotel needs to improve on some of the basics that are required in this price range and star rating.

The Hotel was satisfactory but the shower screen would stay against the wall and the shower would not stay up so you could only have a bath. The frosted window in the bedroom area was awful, as soon as the sun came up we were unable to get back to sleep. A blind/curtain should be put over this window. The price of the room was very high (£133.50) and it did not include breakfast. The breakfast in the bar was £12.95 which is very high and from looking around at other cafes/restuarants in the area a full scottish breakfast costs around £7. The bar area was really nice and so were the staff.

Excellent HotelCan be a little noisy if there is a function on in the club in the basement, otherwise there is little to fault this friendly hotel. They kept the kitchen open for us because we arrived late, and the food is superb.

husbands birthday treatthe hotel was very modern the room was very nice but i could have found fault with the cleaning being a professional housekeeper. we didnt have breakfast here as it was extra and also served in the bar area that was open the night before till well after 3am so we went to another place where we knew what the breakfast was like , the staff were friendly and i have no complaints as such.

One good thing about the hotel was its location. The rooms are nice but they could do with a good clean-mirrors filty-hair in bathtub-dirty marks on the walls. They just didn't feel clean. The only nice member of staff was the young blond girl on the reception-bar staff were not very friendly-we did not have any food in the hotel as all the tables in the bar were reserved-for the in crowd!! that seem to appear when the local offices close-I feel as a resident we should have been giving a table-when we asked for a table we were told we could sit in the lobby of the hotel-this is not good enough when you are paying high prices for your hotel.

Good clean room with nice (albeit slightly gloomy) bathroom. Breakfasts were very substantial but not particularly cheap (£12.50). Free wi-fi access was problem free. Would visit again especially at the £79/night rate I got.

the only drawback to the Hudson i would comment on is the front desk with the over powering odour of air freshener (like fake eternity aftershave) and the not overly friendly desk staff not the best first immpression but never the less a nice hotel with nice bar ,,also please could you ask your cleaners to dust the top of the curtains in the room (305) cheapens what is a very stylish and modern room

Well presented, furnished and designed rooms however the rooms are compact. Nice bathroom and the bed was a good size and very comfortable.

Although the Hudson Hotel Is in a great location in Edinburgh I would never recommend this hotel to any colleagues, friends or family. There was no friendly welcome from the receptionist, we found her really unwelcoming and cold. We found that booking a double room means that 2 mattresses are together, that made for a restless uncomfortable night's sleep. The Hotel front door was falling apart the staff had no concern that it could have caused injury to anyone passing through. On complaining with Email after our stay the only compensation offered was beneficial to myself for any future stays at the hotel, which will not be happening. It turned out to be a disappointing stay for us.

Room sizes vary considerably. The room was in need of a thorough clean but the bed linen and towels were OK. Moulton Brown toiletries via large fixed dispensers. Extensive choice of cooked breakfasts but very few \"continental\" options - all breakfast items priced individually. Location is very central but room overlooked an alleyway from which the bins are noisily collected at 5.30am

Good hotel and centrally located if a bit pricey for the size of the rooms. Also beware of the music bar that opens late on some nights with oud music. If you are in the wrong room it can be disturbing.

My only criticism was we booked and paid for a superior room which we didn't seem to get and paid more than we would have if we had rung the hotel direct so between the 2 we paid £75 more than we needed to - but no complaints about the hotel at all it was clean and the staff were very friendly and the food was lovely. The hotel was well situated for all the tourist attractions- a bad idea to take your car as the nearest parking is an ncp car park charging full rates! The bedroom was very small and the receptionist when we arrived was hopeless but everyone after that were lovely.

This hotel is very handy just off Princes Street. Beware of the bar downstairs. If you have a room just above it can be very noisy uintil the early hours.

First receptionist cold and blunt, not helpful. Manager, casually dressed and cavalier attitude. Room dirty, loads of dust. Cut my head open on the stick out wall mounted TV. No airconditioning - very very warm room and the lighting was terrible, wood very dark and I couldn't even see to insert my card into the door to access the room, so very dark in the room and had to take mirror off the wall and lean it up against the window to do my makeup in the morning. Food very average. Really Really disappointed, grossly over priced and quite honestly appauling.

This is the second time I have stayed at Hudson, and I had hoped their catalogue of bad service was an aberration the first time around. This hotel should not even have one star.Catalog of bad service includes:No food after 2100No laundry serviceDirty restaurantPoor staffing, reception hardly occupiedBathrooms nearly all designed for disabled access which makes it difficult for abled body peopleAccess to bedrooms difficult with no direct floor access â all via stairs.I have no intention of staying in the Hudson Hotel. This is one of the worst hotels I have stayed in.

Lovely modern rooms - very comfortble beds. A real hearty scotttish breakfast. Excellent service. And it is ideally positioned for city centre business or pleasure. The only downside is the late night music - possibly from the hotel bar directly below the rooms - which kept me awake until past midnight. I'd stay here again but take some earplugs with me. Perhaps the hotel should provide some!!! ...or turn the music down?
