Evening meals were excellent. Limited choice of items for continental breakfast was a disappointment.

Very dog friendlyWe chose at the last moment, needing to be in Gateshead early the next day. When they saw we had our dog with us, they changed our room to a slightly larger one on the same level as the exit so he had fewer stairs to work on. The building is well designed with the bar well away from the bedrooms. We had a room overlooking the valley and it was surprisingly quiet. All in all a pleasant and enjoyable stay.

OK for a nightI've stayed here a few times and it's not too bad just for one night. Try and get a room that is not above the bar as you'll get less noise and they seem better quality. I highly recommend the Indian restaurant a few doors down the high street called the Jamdani.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Gibside Hotel - lovely food and they offered to do something different for children if menu not suitable. Clean warm rooms really friendly staff I would stay there another time

A Very pleasant hotel in a quiet and convenient location, good value and a telephone call on the dayA really good value hotel in a quiet location, large grounds and long driveway, our from the city. Need own transport, long climb to hotel entrance. Room good but a little basic compaired to TravelInn, but cheaper. Set in a pleasant location away from main people and traffic, great all round pad. Would I stay again...... yes without doubt, worthy of the modest low cost.

The room was very comfortable formyself and my teenage daughter. We ate at the lounge bar in the evening and the food was excellent. Reception and hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we were woken at 4 o'clock in the morning by the room phone going off. We then heard some guests shouting and swearing. I eventually went out to the corridor to investigate as it went on for more than 20 minutes. I then realised it was the couple in the next room arguing and swearing at the top of their voices. I knocked on their wall and they quietened down. It then started again so I banged the wall again and eventually it stopped about 5 o'clock in the morning. Corridor smelt of smoke.

We were very happy with our stay at Gibside hotel, the beds were all very comfy and we had a good nights sleep and that was sharing with a 5 and 3 year old and an infant. It was quiet by 10.30 pm and the parking was good. Also all the kids beds were made up for when we arrived.

Extremely Good Value for MoneyAlthough the hotel was a little way out of the main city centre (about 10-15 mins in a cab) It was well worth it. The staff were friendly and helpful (even letting us store our bags for the day after we had checked out!) and the rooms were comfortable, spacious and clean. The Hotel was quiet with good facilities, restaurant attached and good transport links into the city and to the Metro Centre. Would thoroughly recommned this as a place to stay.

OK for the priceHotel is ok, reception was friendly, rooms are a little dated and in need of a good clean, room stank of smoke on arrival, bar was dated but had a wonderful view, easy access to Newcastle about 8 GBP in a taxi.

Hotel was reasonable value. Restuarant food was bland but customer service good (should be bearing in mind there were only 3 tables to serve). Very quiet but would use again.

Room was ok but rather small. On arrival we asked at reception if it would be possible to buy a sandwich or snack before we went out.We were told the bar upstairs sold bar snacks . The receptionist forgot to mention only for the next 10 minutes.

Room was comfortable and clean, warm and quiet. We used secure parking option at no extra charge but plenty of car-parking. Two smart Indian restaurants nearby. Close to A1 and Metro Centre. We didn't eat in hotel so cannot comment on food but we were offered a 15% discount to eat in the hotel restaurant. Good value for a mid-priced hotel.

The staff are very good and the hotel is clean. We had a small problem when we arrived as the room they allocated was too cold but without hesitation they gave us a warmer room when we asked to change. The quality of the food in the restaurant was very good and worth the money.
