A brief stay in SheffieldFinding the hotel was easy, parking was straightforward and the hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly. We were able to check in at 2pm although it stated after 4pm on the booking form. The room was functional but fine. The breakfast was reasonable for this price range of hotel, but let down by poor coffee from the machine.

Value for moneyVery friendly hotel, good rooms very clean and breakfast excellent. A little slow but quality very good - just allow a little more time.

Good value for money, interesting architecture. Walls are VERY thin though, you can hear everything! The breakfast location is not well signposted, nor is the reception if you park in the larger car park. The breakfast is adequate given that it's included in the price, but it's not one I would have paid money for The rooms are well equipped though, and it's everything you need for the price.

An Irish review. We enjoyed our stay very much, found the staff very friendly, pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and had everything you would need (T.V, Tea & Coffee Maker, etc) The food in the restaurant was lovely and the bar very accommodating. Grounds were beautiful with pretty hang basket's. We would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends or anyone who wanted to stay in the heart of Sheffield.

An unusual location tastefully convertedAlthough the location of this hotel seems like an unlikely one for a peaceful break the converted prison in the old Hillsborough barracks has real character. Rooms are functional, clean and comfortable and the hotel offered good value. Ideal for an overnight stop.

Quirky hotel near centre of SheffieldVery good value for a three star hotel, near to the city centre. Quiet, comfortable room, helpful staff. Breakfast adequate - reasonable value for money.

Initial impressions were a bit worrying, they couldn't find our booking! Thankfully they still had rooms available and sorted out the problem quite quickly and efficiently. The rooms were sufficient and had pretty much everything we needed. They were clean and tidy too.Hotel location is good, about 5 minutes walk to the tram and bus stops that link directly to Sheffield and the train station.I was rather intrigued and amused by the full English breakfast. It consisted of sausage, bacon, eggs, tomatoes and beans but, for some reason only known to the hotel themselves and in an almost \"Basil Fawlty-esque\" style, you couldn't have all five items, you could only have four!!! I stuck with the continental breakfast anyway.Have to give a big thumbs up to the bar man working on Friday evening who, on recognising that I was Irish, made sure that he poured the Guinness correctly, leaving it to settle properly before topping it up. One of the better pints of Guinness I've had in England as a result!Overall we found it to be a nice hotel in an accessible location with friendly staff and quite reasonably priced too (we paid £105 for a twin room for two nights). I'd definitely consider staying there again.

Hotel reminded me of a Campanile with separate entrance to each room. Room itself pleasant and comfortable. Bathroom in need of refurbishment - cracks in floor-covering particularly off-putting. Reception staff very helpful. Continental breakfast adequate. Would stay here agian for business but not pleasure.

Check facilities carefullyI overall enjoyed my stay. However, I had partly selected this hotel on the grounds it had WiFi. I was disappointed to discover only T-mobile hotspot on offer at considerable hastle and expense.

good budget experiencegreat location and ideal for a short one off business trip, whilst not the biggest room in the world it has everything you need for a one off overnight stay. Value for money, fairly decent food and cheap and breakfast average but jits the spot.all in all a welcome hotel and unusal in its appearance!

MetallicaA really interesting setting for an hotel. Enjoyed our stay at the Garrison, handy for the supertram into Sheffield and then onto Sheffield Arena. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Excellent breakfast included. Would stay again.

overnight staywe wanted to stay in a hotel that was reasonably priced and thought that for the money we paid the Garrison was ideal. The staff were exeptionally friendly and accomodating, the rooms were basic, but clean and comfortable and the food we had was good.

The room was clean, bright and well fitted and the character of the hotel is very good: neat attractive gardens and courtyards and they really have maintained the feel of barracks in a toy fort. The reception and waiting staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is easy to find and in a convenient location for visiting the city centre.Down sides - all minor - the room was very cold when we arrived, in spite of the radiator being full on in the bedroom. (But the weather was bitter!) The bathroom rad was on 'full' but it was stone cold. However, that was soon solved with a couple of portable electric heaters which were very efficient. Also, the shower extractor did not appear to be doing anything and the battery in the wall clock was flat. The included breakfast was reasonable value for the £4.95 which would have been charged, had we not had it included in the booking price. We would certainly go back again and found it excellent value for the £50 for two people for one night in a city centre location and within easy reach of the Peak District.
