Had to change room twice then left at 2am because it was very untidy and we were unhappy with our room.

Short stayHad a wonderful time staff were very helpfull and the service from 1.30pm until we left the following morning was excellent.Food very good, indeed the breakfast will keep you going ALL day.

highly reccommendedWe very much enjoyed our stay at the Waterside. The facilities were very good and I would reccommend this hotel to friends. We were picking up at the airport early morning and this provided an ideal oppertunity to stay overnight without the usual rush the following day. We are going to book again and possibly take up the offer of leaving the car whilst on holiday in October 09.The staff were very helpful and the food was excellent. We will most certainly return soon.

Hotel tired and in need of major reburishment. Carpet stained and frayed. Rooms tired, although showers OK apart from water only warm. Double room like a monastic cell;,dark, cold and musty. Asked to be moved - twin much bigger and brighter. Locatiion lovely but views of a mudbank?!Leisure centre much nicer - use the showere facilities in there! Swimming pool good

Room was clean but basic. Very convenient location for The Parrs Wood Centre and public Transport links. Also very close to the Motorway network and airport. Didn't use the leisure facilities but they looked very good. Would definitely book again.

I was very unimpressed with the room, it was unclean and in need of desperate modernisation. We were given a room next to the reception which gave the impression that it was the room reserved for the late bookings.

Cheap but not cheerfulI stayed here as an overnight stop on business purely as it was an ideal location for my needs. The facilities are great, lovely to have use of a pool but the accomodation is a disgrace. Had to ask for a room change as the window was not even sealed and moundy with a draft coming through and when I opened the bathroom door it was extremely offensive. from a smell point of view. I did get offered another room when I complained which was marginally better but damp with stained bedding! Wifi access in the room is £2 for 15 minutes, hardly acceptable. Food, below standard bar snacks at best. Only plus was that the staff were friendly and helpful enough. May be cheap but not a pleasant experience, the Travelodge would have been a much better option

Some people on reception were helpful, some were rude, maybe just a bad day. Very expensive (£75) for a small room were my feet hung off the end of the bed and I'm only 5'6. The shower leaked so the whole bathroom was soaked after both of us showered, and the paint on the ceiling in the bathroom was cracking off with damp. Not only that but the address (Wilmslow Road) we were sent on our booking confirmation is wrong, this is highly frustrating and costly when trying to get a taxi back from the centre.

The hotel is clean and efficient.Rooms are small but ok for short stay. All services worked well. There are extra facilities available for those who have the time to use them. There was amix up with the accounting system that took some time to sort out. There is some noise early in the morning from aircraft and the adjacent motorways,.but it was not too intrusive.

Trek to the outer reachesThe hotel is stated as being in Didsbury. There are plenty of 'buses that go to Didsbury regularly.......unfortunately the hotel is actually nowhere near Didsbury Centre. No instructions are given on the web-site apart from for cars.... In fact it is a 10 min walk from E Didsbury Station or there are plently of 'buses from Central Manchester that go within a 10 min walk. No-one seems familiar with the concept of travellers arriving without a car. Staff in Hotel were very friendly and helpful and Leisure facilities particularly the pool much appreciated. A rowdy women's only (or so it appeared) 80s \"big hair night\" meant that by 11.00pm there were plenty of drunks around - shame as it was otherwise a quiet hotel. 3.20a.m. the fire alarm went off (? presumably related to aforementioned inebriated ladies??). Over all though if there were only travel directions and timings on the web-site it was fine.

We stayed at the hotel in order to attend a wedding in Didsbury and thought that staying two nights would help us to relax prior to and after the wedding. We were pleased with the hotel, the rooms and the facilities that were available but on both nights we were disturbed by firstly the fire alarm which was a false alarm and on the second night the smoke alarms going off in all rooms at 3.30am. We were not aware what the alarm was on the second night and were not enlightened by the staff until we were told in the morning. Naively we thought it was the radio alarm in the bedroom! We would have thought that night staff at the hotel should have come to or at least phoned the rooms to let us know what had happened. All the day staff said when we complained was that they had been made aware of it by the night staff and our comments were dismissed. We appreciate that the activation of alarms is for our safety and we are not complaining that it went off but that we were left in complete ignorance. Our relaxing weekend was therefore not at all.

Very tatty, small, damp smelling room, on ground floor. function going on in the restaurant so were kept awake with noise from people smoking outside and leaving well after 2am.But the restaurant and room service food and staff where both excellent.

Good but could be betterCame to my Nephew's 21st and stayed over Sun leading into B/Hol Monday. My main bone of contention would be the doors, all key locks and no sound deadners, put that together with someone like me whose a very light sleeper = barely any sleep at all!Shame really cos everything else is good, nice function room, good food, nice breakfast and surroundings all good, room was clean and everything you'd need and staff were all very friendly too.Get some key cards and sound deadners for the doors and I could be tempted to stay again!

Whole place could do with a refit - which reviewers here have been saying for years. Rooms terribly run down / threadbare. Worst breakfast buffet I have ever seen (e.g. conjealed scrambled egg that staff simply tried to revitalise by adding milk).Leasure centre OK.Pity, whole place could be good if comeone cared...

First Impessions Count!I booked the Hotel because it was near to the Event I was attending and new the area well.On arrival the first impression was of a delapidated entrance door. Too many receptionist and when I asked could I book in the room early was told I had to pay another £10.my room was only fit to be a single , the bed pushed against the wall. TV high on the ceiling.Barely room to move around. DFirty stained carpet, and dirty stained pillows. I had asked for a Duvet not a blanket, but the blanket was still on the bed with the duvet on top!The bathroom had the loo behind the door, with just enough room for your legs. Washbain. and a shower rose on the wall. Not a proper walk in shower. The door inside the bathroom was mouldy and needed repair. It is such a shame because the Pool and leisure facilities are great. The housekeeping and room size and bedding spoil a very nice place. £55 for one night was over the top. £28 would have been better price, they could then charge for the Leisure area. Why stay in a place that's not as good as home, come on get your act together!!!!

not the best place!!!We may have only paid for a cheap last minute room but it was not good you felt like you were in the basement, the room was very small & needed to be re-furnished asap. Food was very nice and staff friendly.
