Very Pleasant HotelThis is a nice hotel, very convenient for the cliffs and beach (2 minute walk) and town. It is also quite close to the shops and restaurants of Westbourne and convenient for buses to Sandbanks and Poole. There is a very convenient Harvester restaurant on the beach front just at the bottom of the cliff behind the hotel. The staff at the Durley Dean were very helpful and friendly. The bed was very, very confortable and the room very pleasant. On the down side, the bath was very tiny. There was a shower over the bath, but the tiny bath made this rather confining too. A larger wardrobe and/or chest of drawers would make things easier for a longer break. On the whole though, good value for money and we will definitely stay there again.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Durley Dean. I am curious to know what type of accomodation i would have got for the £45 advertised outside considering i was paying £55 for a single room? Also i am really not complaining but it would have been nice to know in advance that my room was situated opposite the lift and that i may be disturbed by its constant voice recording of door closing, going up, going down prompts!!

Good HotelI recommend this hotel. Nice location and very close to the beach. A bit far to walk to the town centre but £5 taxi fare to the heart of bournemouth is very reasonable. All round very good.

value for money breakWe have stayed at this hotel several times , the latest in one of the refurbished rooms which we found it to be clean,confortable and warm as expected. This break was a room only deal so no comments about the food

Hotel Good, Pool and Gym rubbishI stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The Hotel was clean and tidy and the room was nice although the shower room was very cosy and if you took a long shower it kept over flowing and their was no cold water coming out of the taps!The main dissapointment for me was the gym and the so called swimming pool (which would be better discribed as a large bath!)The gym is in the basement in a room that smells of damp. It seemed to me that noone had been down there in ages, all the machines were turned off, and they did not have all the equipment they advertised. I then went into the female changing rooms thinking I may go for a swim, but the changing rooms were filthy, green mould in the showers and the pool wasn't big enough to swim in anyway to not really any point in risking my health for!!If you are not bothered about a pool/gym then the hotel was lovely, but if like me you choose a hotel specifically for a pool or gym then don't bother.

Great PlaceThis really is a great place to stay. The staff are polite and well presented. Any issues are dealt with immediately, for example I got into the room laid my clothes out and then realises that my door wouldn't lock. I phoned reception they came up within 5 minutes with a new card for a new room which was also an upgrade (for free I might add). Really this hotel is excellent food tastes good. There is a nice gym its a tad small but still a great feature and a swimming pool and sauna. Great features, great value, great service all round great.

Great locationI went on my own to get out of cold and chaotic London.I booked a double room with double bad.When I got there the room had 2 twin beds. I called the reception but got no answer. I walked downstairs and told them I booked a double bed. The receptionist was very kind and sent someone to my room straight away.The girl was very apologetic and nice, she sorted my bed and advised me on where to go and what to do. Bar, I order a bloody-mary but they didn't have Tabasco sauce. The barman didn't even think it was worth checking if they had any in the kitchen. A bit disappointing.The location is great. There is a lovely park down the road from the hotel.The view is great and the beach is 5 min away.Definitelly worth the money.PS Bournemouth is paradise!

Evening in BournemouthLocation good, and room OK - let down by just a few things and attention to detail - e.g. given a filthy high chair, limited wine choice, coffee pretty bad and food just average.

room 229 - eventuallygot room key. room already occupied and resident not happy as this happened to her. got new room ( 229) :- modernised, clean, small but so hot and window jammed open with magazine. needs a/c badly. indoor pool area tatty. didn't try breakfast. good location for centre though.

Booking inOn arrival it transpired they had given my room to someone else so not a very good start, they then upgraded me after a 1 hour delay.When checking out tried to charge me the upgraded rate.Staff helpful

Disappointed with the hotelPool small and can only accomodate 2 swimmers. Pool surround dirty.Other guests very noisy but little staff concern.Looks as though the hotel is being run on a very tight budget.

Noisy RoomRoom was clean but very noisy and cold. Supposed to be a superior room but was just average, nothing special ! Resturant was poorly managed, tables not cleared quickly, slow service etc., didn't appear to be managed by anyone in particular ?? Shortage of food at breakfast bar. When i mentioned that the room was cold the answer was, \" well it's cold outside\" ??

Welcoming & Comfortable HotelThe hotel is situated on the West Cliff within a short walk of the sea and town centre. Our room was newly refurbished with an ensuite bathroom and had everything we required for our stay. The bed was particularly comfortable and there was the usual tea and coffee making facilities. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming. The dining room was spacious and the buffet breakfast plentiful. The waiting staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Certainly a hotel we will stay in again when we visit Bournemouth.

Durley Dean - Excellent value for moneyMy wife and I stayed only one night at the Durley Dean to see a concert at the nearby BIC. We chose the hotel only based on its proximity to the BIC, but realised on arrival we had made an excellent choice as it is a great hotel. The reception staff were very welcoming and friendly and our room was freshly decorated and modern. Only let down was the bathroom was very small, but as only there for 1 night it did not matter. The shower was also so hot you could not stand under it and you couldn't cool it down at all. We reported this. Full English breakfast was excellent too. Would definitely recommend it! great value booked through Late Rooms at only £59 prpn!
