Goog honest simple room for the night. Fabulous breakfast. Only downside was the TV did'nt work (scart plug broken) and hot water in the shower was a bit hit and miss. Would have no problem staying there again.

The room might have been a bit on the small side but it was adequate for my one night stay and very clean and tidy.Excellent value for money. I will probably stay here next time I have to go to Portsmouth.

Room only for 2 nights for 2 people was £25 per night, £50 total for 2 nights, a bargain compared to the standard hotels in the city centre, and they upgraded us to en-suite at no extra fee. On the outskirts of the city centre, easy walk in, and only a short distance from the seafront too. Parking on the road was extra at £2.50 per night. Room was smallish but with everything needed. Overlooking the road and a bit noisy but an absolute bargain and well worth the money. If you don't mind a smallish room and a bit of noise from the road then this is the hotel for you. I'll be staying again when I'm next in Portsmouth, excellent value for money.

made to feel very welcome - room very clean although TV very hard to watch as very low - Staff very pleasent and helpful - good food - good ale - Parking can be a problem as no car park but everything is within easy walking distance so once parked you can leave the car where it is for £2 per 24hrs - Bargin - Will be staying again.

the hotel was incredibly easy to find, with cheap parking outside. it helped that the weather was beautiful for us but there was a nice atosphere in the pub on the ground floor. we were on the top floor so couldnt hear the bar at all, and cannot hear any other rooms either! breakfast wasvery tasty in the morning also! would definetel stay again if needed a hotel in portsmouth. good location - very close to seafront, gunwharf quays and the city centre.

The hotel is basic but very comfortable and good value for money. If you need anything for your room, such as a hairdryer, then just ask and the staff are happy to help. Also, i wasnt expecting to have freeview in my room so that was an added bonus.

we stayed in one of the rooms with a shared bathroom, the rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable with sky tv and tea and coffee making facilities the walls were a little thin and it was a little nosiy but we got a very good deal of 25 per night for a double room so on that basis it was well worth the money, i have paid that to stay in a mixed dorm in a hostle. so a thumbs up from us. nice location too.

Very good value for money, main complaints however were thin walls and squeeky beds.

For a one night stay the room was fine but for a long stay it might be a little frustrating. It was rather cramped and the sloping roof was not ideal. The location is great for Old Portsmouth and Gun Warf. Breakfast was fine.

Hotel staff very friendly. Bed comfortable. food good. Room very small and bathroom size of a broom cupboard and noisy because of portable system installed. Shower took 10 minutes to warm up and then kept going cold. Would recommend to friends but would suggest they specifiy they dont have this room.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the duke of buckingham, the room we stayed in was comfy, clean and bright, it was nice and warm. We had an en-suite room which was again clean and bright, very spacious in room 16 which i would probably request if i stay again or any of the rooms on the top floor as i believe it is loft converted. I did not eat the food at the pub, but i have heard off others the service and food is good,The duke of buckingham is located well, with the beach near by, local shops and Gunwalf shopping centre. I would definately stay here again if i was coming down to portsmonth and i would recommend anyone whos looking on this site to book, its good value for money.

We stayed in the purpose built cottage at the back of the Duke of Buckingham, the room was clean and tidy, fresh bedding and towels in place on our arrival. Lots of hot water for showers. Downside: couldn't get kettle under the tap in the sink, so had to fill it up using the shower. The hotel was within 10 minutes walking distance of Gunwharf in one direction and the town centre in the other direction. Breakfast was very good value for money. Parking is available on the road outside the hotel - ask reception for a 24 hour parking permit which costs £2.00.

Food was good and staff were friendly and helpfull. The room was a bit shabby and was continually woken up by noises from the plumbing. The ensuite bathroom was a bit small and light not working in the bedroom. Not very easy place to park and you have to park outside on the road which the pub/hotel give you a voucher for 2.50.

The best thing about the Hotel was that it was easy to find. For £60 a night without breakfast the room was bare and basic, the furniture was cheep and the beds were uncomfortable. luckily the single bed was slightly better than the double bed. I sat on the double bed and felt the wood from the base unit. The bathroom was about 3 foot by 8 foot and the sink was just big enough to wash your hands in. I had to pay a further £2 for a ticket to park in the road. My recommendation is DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!.I would have felt robbed at £30 with breakfast.

we were very happy with our stay but having said we would have breakfast for £4 each felt that was not so good as the chef seemed to have to do all the work while the 2 girls that were there could have helped. ordered cerial, juice and eggs and the juice and eggs arrived but no cerial and as the eggs were already cooked had them and did not bother about the cerial. all else was good.

No complaints and was what I expected - I've stayed in better hotels for less money, but this was fine. Bit noisy as my room was at the front - but I knew it was in the centre of Portsmouth before booking!
