Critical Review of The Crown, Skegness. We were very impressed with the reception we received and the overall ambience of the hotel. The food and service were excellent and we feel we could recommend the Crown for these facilities. However our room was a big disappointment. The main part of the room was a little dated, in need of of updating but clean and bright. The bathroom however, left a lot to be desired. The pink suite was well worn, old and probably impossible to clean properly. The sink was cracked in several places, the bath had a scum ring around it which had been cleaned by our second night. The flooring was obviously old and also very dirty. We had no hot water on our first night and when we attempted to use the shower there was no pressure to the cold water making it impossible to get an acceptable temperature. Compared to the luxury of the puiblic facilities available we were not impressed. We did not comment on this during our stay as confontation is not our style but welcome this opportunity to make you aware of the above issues. We would in future use LateRooms.com but hope that by using this service we would not be allocated or subjec to a lower specification of accommodation as other guests.

An Oasis of tranquility away from hustle & bustle of SkegnessWhat a surprise to find a hotel of this quality in the Skegness area. Ideal for people wanting to go to Gibraltar Point nature area. Close eneough to Skegness without the noise and flashing lights!

Comfortable in quiet locationThe hotel staff were generally welcoming and friendly although the breakfast waiter didn't seem to understand that I was travelling alone and on business - I think he felt that as a woman I should have been accompanied!!That aside the hotel was clean and the room comfortable albeit that the plumbing was a bit noisy and more sound insulation would have been welcome. The swimming pool was a real asset though and the food in the bar and for breakfast was excellent. All in all very good value for money but not at the top end of the scale.

CrownWe had an excellent 2 day stay Thursday and Friday. Very friendly staff. Nice breakfast and bar meal was nice.Swimming pool available just needed to ask for the key for safty reasons. Good parking, 1 and a half mile walk to the centre of town but there is a bus back!Nice area if you like to walk or ride your bike

Excellent Service, Excellent LocationThe room was clean and tidy, although the bathroom could do with a bleach but was satisfactory. The service was second to none and the food, all homemade was good food and value for money. The hotel itself is slightly set back from the beach front so lovely and quiet but is only a few minutes walk from the beach and all the amusements. I would definately stay here again.

not disabled friendlyi pre booked 101 as you suggested as my wife is disabled,6 weeks prior to going,on arrival they had no notification of our booking,i showed them the confirmation we got from you,did not matter at all they were not bothered. havig travelled over 2 hours to get to skegness we had little choice but to stay, the room we were given was not suitable for a disabled person in anyway ie,high beds struggling to get in and out of bed,no hand rails in bedroom at all or in hotel, bathroom unsuitable in everyway high sided and deep bath unable to get in had to get a stip wash while i was there ,which is not what i expected.very disapointed all roundit should made clear that there is only 1 room for disabled people and all other rooms are not.room wise very disappointing

The Crown shows the way to do itWe arrived at the Crown after a day of working, travelling to various locations to assess traffic flow, and were warmly greeted at reception. It only took a few minutes to complete all the formalities, including indicting where the dining area was, the bar and the availability of meals. The bedroom was clean and quite large (a double and single bed available) with the bed being very comfortable. The bathroom, I felt, needed a refurbishment but nevertheless was clean .we left the following morning after a good breakfast, and wedid feel we could come back for a leisure break in the future.

Very Pleasant WeekendWe had a very nice weekend at the Crown. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and in general the hotel and rooms were very clean and tidy. The room decor was proabably a bit outdated, and the mattress rather hard. The breakfasts were first class, both in terms of quality and quantity, as were the meals served in the very nice and spacious bar area.An excellent half price weekend break.

our visit to skegnessTthe he hotel has a friendly atmosphere but fails in 2 categories. Firstly on arrival the receptionist was tied up on the telephone and unable to deal with myself and 1 other guest. On departure we had to wait while the receptionist was dealing with breakfast guests and the reception was unmanned. They appear to have a staff shortfall.Secondly the hotel is very dated and badly needs modernising.Overall we did enjoy our short stay.

Generally a very nice hotel. Excellent staff, very helpful and friendly. The food was very good, with plenty of choice and extremely good hours of service. My only negative comments are that our rooms were very \"tired\" and faded; rather dark and cheerless. Also no chairs to sit on. Nevertheless, they were very clean and comfortable, and I would recommend it

Excellent value for money, room was huge, cleanliness not too bad, bathroom could have been cleaner but would not put me off staying again.
