I've stayed LY at the Crane in Ocean facing 1 BR Suite. We were in Bldg 5. That's how I first fell in love w/Crane. Quiet; newer bldg; you could hear ocean wave. TY, with economy being what it is, rooms were offered at significant discount. Orbitz offered 1 BR Ocean for significantly lower price vs. other websites offering same type of room. Perhaps b/c of that, we got a room in Bldg 2 which is one of the older buildings. It technically faced the ocean but it also faced the pool as well where we woke up every morning to kids shrieking. So, if you like being close to the pool and the reception area, it's fine but, it was not as nice as LY. Definitely not worth $350 so I'm glad we got a deal but disappointed that it was not as nice as the other building. We asked to switch to another bldg but somehow there was miscommunication and the other operator could not confirm what the first operator had promised to do. The location is remote from the other attractions; however, we had a car so it was not a problem. If I could do it again, I would stay on West Coast of Barbados and just drive out to the beaches of the Crane Beach area as most of the restaurants/nightlife is on the West Coast but the hotels are more expensive(and nicer) and the water is very very still -- like bathwater and we prefer waves. Barbados is very nice and there is lots to do and less expensive than Anguilla; however, Anguilla has the far better food/restaurants.

My friend got married there and the service and attention to detail were wonderful. The hotel was outstanding and it is an excellent place to relax and get peace and quiet.

We recently stayed at the Crane resort for my husband's 30th birthday. It was absolutely beautiful! The grounds are incredible, the views are unsurpassed and the service was great! We arrived late (11:00 PM) to the island and were greeted by our shuttle immediately after we landed. There was a gentleman waiting for us at the bell station to check us in and get us to our room. The concierge desk was always available for setting up excursions and making dinner reservations. The only drawback was that the resort was about a 15 min. taxi drive to the nearest town if you wanted to eat anywhere off the resort. They do offer free shuttles to the grocery store 3 days a week which was nice. We also felt that the food on the resort was overpriced for what we had experienced on the island and not as good as some of the restaurants in St. Lawrence Gap, etc. The room was immaculate and spacious! Full kitchen, huge bathroom and living space. All in all, a great experience!

The Crane will be a wonderful resort once it is completed. The room was not ready upon check in and due to the construction; a non-air-conditioned reception area was temporarily available for visitors to wait. The garden view room that was offered faced the enormous construction site where heavy machinery was run on weekdays?which was extremely loud. While the rooms were immaculate, the air-conditioning did not work at all. The majority of the staff was friendly, but service from most the hotels offerings were extremely slow. The La?Zure dining experience was overpriced and the food was undercooked. My party was scheduled to stay a full week; however, medical reasons caused for immediate check out. Upon knowledge of our situation, the representatives of the lobby and concierge services were extremely helpful and aided in our departure. Having spoken to several other visitors during our departure, the Caribbean Sea side had much more to offer visitors.

The grounds are beautiful. The pools were fabulous and it had a great beach. The staff was very friendly. The rooms were spacious. The bathroom was really large and included a jacuzzi tub and a large shower, plus two closets. The air conditioning was not great. There were no controls to control the temperature and it didn't seem to do a great job of cooling. That would be the only complaint. The location was little far from most of the mian areas on the island. It was typical to have to drive 20-40 minutes to go to restaurants, shopping, etc. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend staying here.

A pretty place until you get up close. 10 minute wait for hot water, frequent power outages, slow reaction to maintenance issues, construction noise, no half decent workout room, constanct wind, and constant noise from uncontrolled children who drove us away from the so called tranquil pools detracted from a high cost vacation. The staff were excellent but slow to act on issues. A Hilton or Four Seasons this isn't, in terms of so called 5 star or higher.

Unbelievable beach. If you're looking to be pampered with personal attention it's not the place, but the staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way when we requested certain things. Rooms were clean with a ton of space. Restaurants were expensive but convenient. The waitstaff weren't professional waiters, just extremely friendly people trying to do a great job. I definitely recommend eating out in St. Lawrence Gap instead, better food for the money. If you like being left alone and relaxing, this is definitely the place. Best beach I've been to with a 15 ft cliff you could dive off of. As a whole the resort was extremely clean, safe, and the staff was extremely friendly. W/out a doubt I would stay there again.

The hotel is currently under construction & there are no signage. At nights the lighting is poor & very dark.Prices of meals at the hotel were expensive. Based on the the location there were not many alternative restaurants nearby. The beaches were beautiful & the staff were helpful & friendly.I should have chosen a location central to Bridgetown. I believe in 2010 after all the construction is completed the hotel will be very elegant & beautiful. There were not many inhouse things to do-exercise room etc.I was holed up for two days because of heavy rainfall.

Went there Nov/Dec of 2008. There was a little construction, but it wasn't that bad and they're probably done by now. The rooms were very nice, and really they were suites. They had a double balcony, living room, kitchen, large master bath with jet tub and a great bed. The balcony even had a splash pool. Very clean, comfortable and overall very nice. The restaurants were very good, but nothing you haven't experienced in the states. Service was very friendly, but not 5 star (if you really need 5 star in the first place). The beach was very nice, but keep in mind it is on the Atlantic Ocean side of the island so there will be waves. Overall the trip was 9 out of 10. Why not a 10? You have to save a little in case I find something better somewhere else on another vacation!

I can not say enough good things about The Crane. My husband and I spent 8 days in this unbelievable perfect place for our 50th celebration. Unfortunately, our flight schedule had some glitches out of Atlanta, so I arrived a few hours before my husband. WHY you say? Well this so called, 'organized' woman, and a person for being on time and keeping schedules on callendar!!!....I neglected to check the tickets before our flight thinking we were leaving 2 hours later than we were scheduled...Well, my month had been crazy and I had flown to Oregon to visit friend a couple of weeks prior to this trip and my flight out of Atlanta then was 8:30am, so had that STAMPED on my brain...So...you can see that even the organized OCASSIONALLY makes a BIG boo boo. Well, needless to say, when we got to Atlanta Hartsfield and found out we were scheduled to leave at 6:30am instead of 8:30 things went south. I was able to get on the 6:30 flight, thanks to the agent at American Airlines desk, however my husband wasn't. So here I was arriving in on this awesome Island of Barbados to celebrate our 50th anniversary, and I was alone. The car was waiting for us at the airport and I arrived at the check=in desk ALONE. I had the most wonderful Bell Cap, Leon who took me to our residence for the week, and when we opened the door to this magnificent suite and saw the flowers and wine on the counter I lost it...Did I open the bottle of wine?? YES. My husband arrived at 11:30 that evening. I can only say The Crane is the place to stay for privacy, service, beauty, food, and overall, perfect for the couple who embrace time together

It was a very nice experience. Lots of construction going on but it was not a great inconvienence, just kinda annoying at times. The A/C couldn't keep up with the heat during the day but we weren't in the room most of the time anyway so no biggie. None of the kitchen appliances worked except the range. I'm sure they would have fixed the issue but we didn't really need them. The staff was friendly, very easy going, and the service was prompt and with a smile. Overall, I would recommend anyone looking for a quiet, nice, not so touristy atmosphere, to give the Crane a try, but try to wait till the construction is over.

We stayed 7 days and were married at the Crane midway through our trip. The first night we stayed in a 1 bedroom with no air conditioning. We were told it would take at least a day to fix so they offered either an adjustment on our bill or a 2 bedroom penthouse suite. We took the suite and it was amazing. They were very accomodating. The views were spectacular and the place was immaculate. Our room was cleaned to perfection every day. Unfortunately, if you plan to go there, be prepared for the air conditioning not really working. We could get the main area cooled to 79 - 80, the master suite 78, the other bedroom at 74, so we slept in the cool room. The staff were very friendly, so were the construction workers (wait until the construction is over before visiting). They work 6 days a week, not 5 like they inform you upon check in. We kept our windows closed so we didn't have to hear electric saws, equipment or hammering during the day. The pools and beach are beautiful and you don't have fto ight trying to get a spot. Shade, partial shade or sun is always available there. Zen has really good food and we ate there the most. L'Azure is okay on food, but overpriced. Most meals were overcooked and dry at dinner, breakfast was decent. Our wedding couldn't have been more perfect. Sophia did a wonderful job and everything was beautiful. Concierge sent a botte of wine and flowers that day, very thoughtful. If you plan to shop, use the service at the hotel on the days they provide it, taxis are very expensive to town ($30 USA each way). I would love to come back again when construction is finished.

We booked our wedding at the Crane. Before leaving, we consulted with the staff and knew what to expect when we arrived (attaining marriage license, etc). The only thing we weren't aware of and prepared for is that, for the week, there was an authorization for the week put on our credit card. This affected our balance and budget but the staff was very helpful in allowing us to have an allowance to get through because we hadn't carried any extra cards with us for this trip (X at the front desk,in particular, treated us like family). Our wedding was PERFECT and because we booked at the last minute we didn't hire a photographer but was going to set up our tripod and create our own memories. Y and Z both stepped in as witnesses for the wedding as well as took the camera and camcorder to help us cherish our memories (we'll never forget you for that!!!!!). Overall, the resort was perfect. Some of the most beautiful views we've ever seen were both on Crane beach as well as at the resort. The views from the cliff are breathtaking! We were aware of the construction before going so there was nothing to complain about and we weren't affected at all. There were days that I wondered if construction was closed down or not...we barely heard anything. Because of the wedding, we got an upgrade and was blown away by the suite! Also, A (the cab driver) was awesome! Everyone was so friendly and made us feel at home! We'll be back again and again and again and again!!!!! We've found a new home away from home! We love you X, Y, and Z!!!! Thank you for making our wedding day and honeymoon package unforgettable! See you soon!

The Crane was by far the most beautiful hotel and resort that I have ever seen. My husband and I were married at the Crane and the staff, hotel amenities and property were outstanding. I recommend this resort to everyone I know and I hope to make it back very soon.

We picked the Crane for half our honeymoon and wish we stayed here the whole time. The ocean view 1-bedroom suite w/pool we stayed in was immaculate. Beautiful views of the pool and ocean. Every part of the suite exceeded our expectations. The air conditioning doesn't cool the room significantly, but it does remove some of the moisture. The weather was nice enough that we just left the doors open most of the time. We have read great reviews of Crane Beach and really enjoyed it... crystal clear water, no debris on the beach. The pools are great... all six of them. Plenty of chairs to lay on, lots of shade and privacy on the pool deck. We didn't eat at Zen, but we ate at l'Azure. Food is very good, but promptness of service needs improvement. We ran out of water frequently and waited a long time for our servers just to walk by. Prices are a little high, too. Staff was very helpful and friendly. On our checkout day, we unexpectedly had to visit a doctor. We called concierge, she booked an appointment for us, arranged for a bellman to gather our bags and food from the refrigerator. It took us forever to find our Ethernet jack for their complimentary high speed Internet, but speed was excellent, comparable to our ISP at home. Overall, we are very happy with our stay and will return in the future.

Positives: Gorgeous rooms, helpful and friendly staff, amazing views of ocean, great pools and beach.Negatives: The employees were helpful but they were hampered by poor management. Our initial room was located right by construction (they are doing A LOT of construction and it is loud). They were unable to immediately move our room so we had to wait a day (no compensation was offered for the inconvenience). The two restaurants don't have a great variety of options which is especially important given that the hotel is located in a remote part of the island. They were understaffed: on more than one occasion I had to call room service 6 or 7 times before they answered (and then the food would be cold), and no one would be at the front desk at times. All of this would not be so surprising but for the high prices they charge (for Barbados) I expected better.Summary: Most of the island's action is on the other (Caribbean Sea) side of the island, but with minor adjustments from management The Crane would be a good place to go for a low-key romantic getaway.

Eating ocean front at the resturant was great. The view from my ocean front room was breath taking. I love the caribbean and was able to open the shutters and let the tropical brezz flow.I has a private residence and HIGHLY suggest it !! I will go back and the staff there very helpful at all times. The bath room decor was nice and great to use the hot tub in room. The room was large and felt like home.

The hotel is truly amazing, the views are absolutely gorgeous . We stayed in a 1 BR oceanview suite with a pool for 7 days. The room decor was beautiful, we loved being able to open the living room and bedroom patio doors and get the fresh ocean breeze. Our A/C worked fine when we wanted it. No issues with construction noise. The beach was undescribably beautiful. It is really soft, and pink from the coral. The ocean is several shades of turquoise blue. There are two sets of stairs or an elevator to get to the beach. The cascading pools, several waterfalls, and large outdoor jacuzzi are wonderful. Plenty of comfortable chairs at the beach and pools. At the beach the locals will try to sell you crafts, but do not ask more than once. We had the breakfast plan at L'Azure it was worth it. Dinner at Zen one night, the Japanese sampler $44 US (huge portions, 2 could eat on this), and red snapper were very good. The Sunday morning gospel brunch is good, ask for the earlier reservation time so you can sit with an ocean view. This is the place for rest and relaxation, for night life you'll need to go to the West side of the island, by taxi or rent a car. All of the staff we encountered were very helpful, nice, and worked very hard. The beach is one of the best you'll ever experience, the grounds are exceptionally well maintained with an extensive variety of flowers, plants and trees. Early sunrise and starlit night skies are gorgeous. Because you are on the East side you cannot totally see the sunset. Tree frogs sing a very relaxing lullaby at night. We miss it all.

The Crane Resort is a very nice place to stay. There was a lot of construction that was taking place when my husband and I visited, which was a bit annoying during the day. The room that we stayed in was gorgeous and had a beautiful view. The hotel is located out of town so plan to travel for approximately 20 minutes (one way) if you would like to go out to eat. We never tried the resturants, but they looked very elegant. The view onto Crane Beach is supposed to be one of the best in the world and it is easy to see why when you step out onto the balcony. The staff was extremely friendly and the resort overall had a very safe feeling.

We got an excellent deal for this World renowned 5 star property. The location is fantastic. A bit out of town-20 minutes. Rent a car. Buy your own food and cook in the spacious kitchen provided in your suite. We had a jr. bedroom suite and it was the size of a small apartment. The furnishings and material used in the suite exquisite. Service excellent-all around. Peace and quiet all around. Scenery----breathtaking. Shuttle to the supermarket once a week. Excursions are pricey. Construction did not disturb us at all. Do not worry about them hounding you for time shares...you have to literally seek them out to provide you with the information---great prices and worth it. This resort is secluded and has a small stretch of beach. If you're looking to be left alone and relax...this is your dream come true...if you want fun, partying, etc. That can be arranged too. We went the 3rd week in Sept/08 and it was very roomy---not crowded at all. We plan to return again this Sept/Oct for another visit. Their renovations, additions should be almost complete. They are still building new suites on to the property. the rooms are clean. We had no issues with A/C, water, lights, etc. Anything we did request was delivered and tended to immediately. Customer Satisfaction with Service is their #1 priority. This truly is Paradise unhidden---a must see.
