The Chanler at Cliff Walk is situated on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and Easton Beach. The cliff walk is designated a National Recreation Trail. It is a three and a half mile path along the eastern shore of Newport. The hotel is a mile and a half from downtown Newport. There are abundant opportunities in the area for water sports, fishing, boating and yachting. Those who prefer their recreation on dry land may want to check out the International Tennis Hall of Fame, located in downtown Newport. Downtown Newport is roughly 35 miles from Providence International Airport. Guests will also find that the Chanler at Cliff Walk's front desk can help to arrange for transportation needs such as taxis or rental cars, as well.

The Chanler at Cliff Walk has 20 guestrooms, each designed to reflect a different architectural period. Rooms have king or queen sized beds, fireplaces and in some cases, hot tubs, skylights and saunas. Modern amenities include heated bathroom floors, plasma TVs and DVD players.

The Chanler at Cliff Walk is a former mansion and was built in 1872. The hotel is designed to highlight the building’s French Victorian style with authentic furnishings, original artwork and traditional décor. The hotel has a full service restaurant offering three meals a day.
