I have stayed at other five star hotels in Asia for less money and this hotel does not compare favorably. The first night I arrived at 11:00 p.m., there was a very loud wedding going on across the street complete with a thumping bass and searchlights. My "long stay" deluxe room was overlooking a noisy street and I asked to be moved to a quieter room non-smoking room, I was told that the room was non-smoking which wasn't true as there were ashtrays in the room. I was told that the wedding would be finished by midnight and I was not moved to another room. The music was finished by 12:10 a.m. but the cars leaving the wedding were honking and making quite a bit of noise for a while. I was awakened in the morning by trucks and honking on the street. I asked to be moved to a different room and my request was granted this time. I ended up in a smaller non smoking room at the back of the hotel. This was quieter but dingy. There were dirt marks on the walls, the upholstry on the couch was shabby, there was a burn mark from an iron on the floor and the hangers in the closet were dusty, there was a rip in the duvet cover and the sheets were pilled. The clothes iron was black on the heating surface. The person on the phone was rude when I ordered rice after my room service meal had already arrived. They did make it complimentary though. One evening there was a horrible acrid odor in the hallway too. The Indian food from the Indian Affairs restaurant was good and the breakfast buffet wasn't too bad. I had difficulty in understanding the staff or making myself understood.

In town for work and stayed for 7 nights. First room (Standard) was musty and smelt of insecticide. Second morning, found some mouse dropping on bedside table. Got upgraded due to these issues to a Deluxe room. The rest of my stay went without a hitch after that. Staff was generally pleasant but a bit inexperienced with guests requests. I enjoyed experimenting with the Indian offering on the buffet.
