The room was big. The general appearance of the hotel was negative. The carpets were worn. I did not want to step on them with bare feet Nothing to writebout. I would not stay there again.

The hotel was nice and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. Our room was spacious and clean - very comfortable. Not the fanciest place we've stayed, but very comfortable. The parking was free and there was a nice continental breakfast in the morning. We would definitely stay at the Carriage House again.

More charm than the chain hotels and at a better price. The room had a slightly musty odor. Pleasant staff. Nice bath soaps and bath ameneties. Small fridge, microwave and coffeemaker in the room. Very high ceilings. Good value for the price.

The hotel is located in Middletown, 5-10 min with car from downtown Newport. Very quiet with friendly staff. Ideal for daytrips to Providence, Block Island and Martha's Vineyard, MA (fast ferry). 5-10 min away from start of Cliffwalk and Bellevue Avenue with all the mansions.

The location was good for us, as we did not want to be in the middle of newport and all its traffice we could get to the beaches and several restaurant. The water pressure in the showers was not very strong. We know our way around newport so we were very happy to be out of the thames street traffic. The clarion was near the beaches and our favorite eateries and my relatives so we liked our location. Someone else may wasnt to be closer and be able to walk around thames street.

It was not stuffy or snotty like a lot of hotels. It was old so you could hear a lot of noises and doors opening and closing. The front desk woman whenI arrived was very slow and it took forever to check in. However she was extremly friendly and helpful. The gentlman when we checked out was very rude. He was on the phone complaining about a person and ignored us for a good 10 minutes.

Excellent value, clean,efficient and quiet. A small lounge chair in the room would have added a nice touch to the room. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was clean, the ameneties were ample and overall it was an excellent value. I would definately recommend to others or stay there again if the opportunity presented itself.

Great back deck & plenty of parking. This was the second time I stayed here in 3 weeks. The room was large with a sitting area, microwave & refrigerator. We had a wonderful continental breakfast in the morning & drinks on the back deck in the evening. What a great value.

I liked the lobby and free continental breakfast. Good place. You could tell it was previously a nursing home by the layout of the room (not a typical hotel room layout). It was very conveniently located to the heart of Newport, RI (approx. 1.5 miles away). I thought it was a bit pricey for what we got, but it was clean, comfortable and conveniently located.

Comfortable and welcoming. The room was a touch small. This charming small hotel is conveniently located near Newport attractions and is definitely recommended as an alternative to high-priced intown hotels for those seeking a little period atmosphere. Friendly, efficient, competent staff.

Friendly staff and terrific area. From the moment we checked in, Harry (the Manager)was helpful to us. The HOtel itself is beautiful; a modern enough hotel inside the shell of a 1880's style hotel. High ceilings, large rooms, and in a relatively quiet part of town.
