Hotel was in excellent location. I had a room that was rather small but very clean and smart. It had a awesome view of Shanghai that you only see in postcards.

good for business trip, not so far from Nanjing road, just 2 blocks away or 10 min walk, I was unlucky that during my stay 9-11 Dec2008, they were improove the short cut road from Beojing road to Nanjing road and there a lot of dust, but on the morning of 12 Dec,the day I left, the improov were finish and there were very clean road to walk along and I just found that this Beijing road were the center of Hardware shop and also I walk backword across the bridge near hotel and found Qi Pu Lu, the wholesale market (also sell pice by pice), the distance were same as walk to Nanjing

The Good: Very reasonable priced hotel, blocks away from Nanjing Road East and subway station, get the room without the breakfast.. Wonderful street food available within a block of the hotel. Experience a real Shanghai neighborhood around the hotel. Wonderful Chinese food at the fancy restaurant on the 4th floor. Comfortable room and supportive bed. Two blocks away from Qipu Road, cheap shopping area. Needing improvement: Room carpet needs a good cleaning. Lots and lots of weddings booked for the hotel's restaurants. So if you want to eat at the hotel, some nights you will be out of luck. Beware of internet charges that are difficult to understand. Make sure you carry the hotel's taxi card, most taxi drivers don't know where the hotel is located.

The hotel is centrally located near the shopping street, Nanjing East Road, and sub-way station. The hotel room (superior city view) & toilet is spacious and clean. Hotel staff offer good service. It was a pleasant stay there. And hotel is reasonably priced compared to hotels of similar class.

I had read some mixed reviews about this hotel and arrived with some anxiety. However, the hotel was clean and service delivery was polite and always helpful. The view from the room was breathtaking (towards Pudong.) The surrounding area is undergoing reconstruction, but this did not dampen our stay. Felt secure and comfortable. Walking distance to the Bund and Shanghai Museum . Taxis are cheap and hotel staff will provide good advice regarding method of travel. Glad we stayed here and would recommend to others - exellent because of the price.

Checked in January 9th 2008. Room is standard size. Carpet is nasty. Odd stains on some of the furniture. Neighborhood at night seems dicey. This may have been a 4 star hotel once...but I think it at best a 3 star....and that is only true if you have had a few drinks before checking in. T.V. says it has certain English channels like CNN, ESPN, HBO etc....but they are not working. Only Chinese channels seem to be working. Bed is hard as a rock...which I like, but not everyone does. Pillows are o.k., climate control is o.k. 24 hour internet access cost 100 RMB a day, which is about $15 u.s. I will have additional information after the sun comes up and I will report back how the area looks in daylight.

Hi, I stayed there only one night. But is a very good place, located 5 minutes aways from Nanjing Rd, the bund and other interesting parts of the City. Going from there to the Pearl Tower takes less than 10 minutes in taxi, and costs like 20 RMBs. Rooms are clean, but don't expect luxury

The good: Somewhat cheap. The bad: Carpet was really dirty. The shower had mildew growing all over it. Hotel location is far from everything. Overall, I would not stay at this hotel. If I went to Shanghai again, I would try to stay in the French Quarter. This hotel was too dirty and far away from everything.

Spent 3 nights. Very pleased right from the start. Staff is more than willing to help with any problems you might have, including taxis, check in was a breeze, also finding entertainment and different venues was so easy. Room's were clean, neat, large enough to fit a small army and loaded with all the regular amenities. The only things i could have asked for was that fabric softener be used on the towels and that the massage prices in the hotel would be a little more reasonable. Other than that I would definitely stay in this hotel again. PS it's neighbor is the Yuyuan gardens and a 10 minute walk from Nanjing Road and 15 from the French Concession. RIght in the middle of everything. Also very secure, you can't reach the rooms of the hotel via the elevator without a key. Plus Staff work 24/7 to make you feel at home.

The rugs in the room were extremely dirty. My wife wouldn't even walk on the first room rug. We changed room and it was better but the carpeting in this room should also have been replaced. Otherwise OK.

A quiet little hotel close to the Nanjing Shopping street. The staff were very helpful. The beds were hard, but generally everything is clean and tidy. Affordable and safe.

I stayed at this hotel two different times in August. It's a great value for its location. My first stay has a room with a nasty bath tub that does not drain. Second stay has a nice room except dirty carpet. Wireless internet access worked great. Bed is comfortable but no comparison to Westin.Hotel is only a 5-minute walk from Nanjing Rd, but you will have to walk through some dirty alleys through the residential neighborhood. You can find cheap and delicious Chinese breakfast in the morning among the alleys. I spent about .60 for my breakfast when I stayed there.

We were on vacation and had a grand view room. The staff was pleasant, and there was always someone fluent in english available. We didn't ask much of the concierge. The view was grand. The room was maintained well. The rugs were slightly dingy. The beds were slightly firm, yet comfortable. Although we didn't dine there, a scan of the breakfast buffet one morning on the top floor looked appetizing, and the view was excellent.The hotel appeared secure. The hotel is in an area five blocks north of the Nanging shoppng area. It is not in an ideal location, but the area is acceptable. We received a timely discount on our eight night stay, so the value was especially good.

The airconditioner was only a fan, no cool air came out. The beds were very very firm. Too firm for Westerners.

This hotel leaves a lot to be desired it is in a commercial area, that was dark & seedy at night, never in my life have I seen carpets so dirty from the lobby areas to the room it self you had to pay extra for everything right down to the coffee making facility. do not go to the beauty salon in the building as they charge nearly 200% on what other salons outside charge. I would not recommend this hotel

Great choice if you want a top class hotel room at a smaller price - the minus is the location, which seems to be in the middle of a workshop area. but Ningbo street a block down is a great market street for people watching and having meals with locals, if a little dirty. The service here is top class.
