Good Location, Friendly Staff, Clean B&BThe hotel is situated very near the General Hospital, a taxi from central station cost us just over £5 (after 11pm) only costs £3.30 for a day rider (bus) lots of different buses passed near, including the number 10, 11, 38. We arrived at the hotel a few hours before the earliest check in time, thinking the hotel would look after our bags while we went shopping, to our surprise we got to check in straight away! We were shown the lounge areas and were told that we could help ourselves to tea and coffee at any time. Our room was a standard, it was very spacious and clean as was the toilet and shower facility nearby. The staff were very helpfull even the night man, went to get us some milk so we could have a cuppa before going to bed (thank you). The breakfast was lovely, plenty of tea, toast, cereal and a yummy cooked breakfast. If you are looking for somewhere clean and reasonably priced close to the town centre, then I would say stay here, its not posh or ultra modern but it did the job. I would definately stay here again. Thank you for looking after me and my daughter.

myy newcastle weekend visitIf youre looking for somewhere just to put your head down, close to the city centre this is perfect the price is reasonable for what you get for your money, if its a 1st class hotel your looking for this isnt for you. The staff will help you as long you ask them very friendly staff. The only downside was having to be out our rooms by 10am on a sunday i thought was a bit early for a weekend

Newcastle weekendThe picture of the brighton guest house on the website is very much out of date and must of been taken some years ago as it does not reflect what it looks like now. It is in a run down area and the guest house could do with being smartened up. The description on the booking forms are misleading as we had a communial toilet and shower that did not have a wash hand basin for use after using the toilet which i am very surprised that this is allowed in this day and age of infections and transmissions. The rooms were very basic and comforts limited. One of the guest rooms didnt have a remote control for the tv and there was no way of using it without this, The staff were unhelpful and the response i got was what do you want me to do about it all the rooms are full!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good customer service. The breakfast was basic but of a sufficient standard. I wouldnt recommend this guest house to any of my friends families or even strangers and not suitable for couples or kids but possibly more targeted to the yooung groups who are looking for very basic cheap accommodation. When we arrived they were advertising rooms for £20.00 per night we payed £25.00 per head. We also found out that one group had ensuite at cost of £25.00 well what can i say. The whole group were disappointed as we have stayed in newcastle before and the last hotel was same price and of a very higher standard than this.Management responseThe photographs on the site are current and the area is not run down with average house prices being £160 - £200k. The room description for a standard room quite clearly states that the bathroom facilities are shared. Our staff are very friendly and helpful, we gave the guests without the tv remote the use of a cd/radio. The difference in the prices paid was down to the fact that the other group chose not to have breakfast included, which at £5/head for juice, cereal, toast and a full English breakfast is very reasonable.

very friendly staff and overall a nice hotel to stay in. good for large party groups, like us. only 5 mins from nightlife. nice enough rooms and bathrooms. however we never made it to breakfast as 8am-9am is too early!! also there is a £25 deposit required on arrival at the hotel which we hadnt been told about before we got there! to make sure you dont break anything!!
