The room was comfortable, no bath just a shower, the furniture was a bit dated and of cheap construction.

Great stay at the BerkeleyWe really enjoyed our stay at the Berkeley and the owner was very helpful and accommodating. We were allowed into our room early as we had a wedding to get ready for and we were able to borrow an iron and ironing board. The owner was also considerate at breakfast and offered to put on vegetarian sausages although it was not on the menu. The room itself was nice; comfy double bed, modern bathroom, power shower and lovely big white fluffy towels. The place is slightly quirky with its many floors and stairs cases, although the rooms are not enormous but big enough for their purpose, it all adds to the building's character. It is clean and modern and if I was ever in Eastbourne again I would stay here again. The location was perfect, at the end of the street was the seafront and cafes, shops etc on the next corner and only a 10 - 15 minute walk from the train station.

Short BreakThe Berkeley is a lovely hotel with very friendly staff. The location was great especially for the theatres which we attended. The atmosphere was very inviting and the breakfasts excellent. Will definitely go back again.

A lovely little hotelI really enjoyed my stay at The Berkeley and would not hesitate in recommending it to others. The room was very comfortable. the towels were lovely and soft, and the breakfast was fantastic. The owner was very friendly and made a lot of effort to welcome me and even carried my suitcase up to my room, which was most welcome after a long day on the road. I can't wait to go back to Eastbourne again!

A lovely hotel close to the sea and the shops.Would definitely recommend this hotel. Lovely room (we booked a superior room), reception provided us with a residents parking permit so we didn't need to pay for parking outside the hotel. My only quibble would be that i had assumed there would be a bathroom en suite - and it was a small shower room - this is my fault for not double checking before i booked.Would certainly stay there again.

Lovely accomodation - clean and tastefully decorated. Bed a little small for my 6 foot husband!Parking is on the street but we didn't struggle for a space. There is a charge Mon-Sat 8am - 6pm but we were provided with a parking voucher by the hotel. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

i was disgusted that they let a workman enter my room at 4pm when i was asleep with migrane he in to check a fire door .ruined my short breakManagement ResponseâWe recently replaced the door with a fire resistant unit, and the lock required a little bit of attention. My carpenter knocked on the guestâs door a couple of times and there was no response, also, the âdo not disturbâ sign had not been hung outside the door, and given the time of day which was actually 14:30, he reasonably assumed that the room was empty and entered room to carry out the adjustment. It was only then that he realised that the guest was in the room and at which stage he apologised and quickly left the room. It should be noted that had the guest left the âdo not disturbâ sign outside his door, which are provided in all bedrooms, then none of this would have happened. When I discussed the incident with the guest he said that he was otherwise happy with the stay here. All things being equal, the feedback ratings are considered unfair given what was after all a single, isolated, and very innocent mistake by my carpenter.â

Lovely staffThe guy at reception was very helpful and nice. The room was very homely, clean and the towels were so nice and thick! :-)Breakfast was nice. Good selection of cereal, fruit and yoghurts at the buffet table and full English breakfast served at the table. Location was great just 30 sec from the beach!

BRILLIANT HOTEL TO STAY INMy experience of the Berkeley was one of great satisfaction, the room was well presented, tidy and modern with all the features you would come to expect from a top class hotel.Owner was friendly and polite and went out of his way to help with bags and offer tea coffee etc.Breakfast was lovely with a great choice and friendly and fast service, owner clearly went out of his way and put alot of effort in to making us happy and making sure our stay was pleasent.I would definately come back to the Berkeley if I go to Eastbourne again as me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed ourselfs, would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in this part of the world.

Overnight StayWe booked online with no problems, met and welcomed by the owner, very tastefully decorated throuughout, we thought the room was a bit on the small side, bathroom/shower a bit cramped but ideal for overnight stay, got a good deal price wise, parking was an issue but the owner gave us a resident badge, very nice breakfast with all the trimmings.

this was a really nice hotel and the owner very freindly and helpfull and the breakfast was lovely.not bad value for money and the only things i would rate it down on was that the shower attachment was broken so had to hold it to get showered and the beds were not that comfortable otherwise i would reccomend anyone to stay there and i personally would stay there again.

When my wife & I booked this Hotel it sounded very nice as the room details stated that we would have a luxury bathroom, toiletries, hairdryer, satalite tv, dvd, fresh fruit, tissues & full hospitality tray. The fresh fruit & tissues weren't available, plus the dvd didn't accept most of the dvd's we brought to watch . In the shower room, which wasn't very pleasant due to mildew in the shower tray, there was only 2 small bars of soap & a shower cap...no shampoo or shower gel which we felt should be available as this is classed as a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was very nice, the service was friendly, food was good. But we had to wait until 10am to eat as it was New Years Day. If we had been told that in advance we would not have booked as I had to be at work in the afternoon and had a 2 hour journey home. Having said all that, when we arrived we discovered that there were steps leading up to the hotel & no lift as it was a very small hotel. We were told we would be right at the top of the building but my wife is disabled so we were then put into a different room on the first floor to ease her discomfort, which we appreciated very much as she would never have managed all the stairs.
