We had four of us from Iowa come down and relax for a couple of days before the national finals began and really enjoyed the South Beach Hotel Plaza. It is located one block form the ocean and near tons of local restaurants and gift shops. It is within walking distance of the clubs and was in a clean neighborhood.

Basic Hotel, Art Deco style but showing its age a little now. The service was good. If you get a reasonable rate, this hotel is ok

Great little hotel. Awesome location, clean, friendly, and the price is right!!!

The price was right, but the room was very dated, and not in a good way! The renovations were far from thorough. AC/Heat didn't work very well. We could hear the people in the bathroom next door. Location is handy, but will not stay here again.

the rooms were comfortable to sleep in and nicely decorated. They have complimentary breakfast every morning. but unless you want to have bagel with cream cheese every morning i suggest having breakfast at a nearby cafe or pastry. Th staff was not really that friendly. i wouldnt stay in this hotel again. i can get more for my money at another hotel. i feel like i paid more for the location than anything. the hotel was nearby all the attractions. The overall appearance of the hotel is not all that great either. if i were to rate this hotel i would give it a 2 star.

We had to move 4 times to different rooms. First day, the wall sockets would not work. The second room we were move to---the shower would not work. The third room we were move to roaches were in the room. The fourth room water leaked all over our clothes in the closet and carpet. Some of the clothes we have to pay to go to dry cleaner and some had to be thrown away. This was the poorest hotel service I have ever experinece in my life. I feel that I shouldn't have been charged anything for the room. I expect to hear from you about this.

Location. Old. The hotel was in a perfect location. No ice machine, no cups in rooms. The worst thing was the shower would make a noise and then burning water would come out, then cool down and the same thing over and over again. We had to ask for toilet paper and tissue. We were told the valet was $35 a day and it ended up being $45 a day.

Great location, helpful, friendly, first rate staff. Older hotel but with updated furniture - showers are not great (slow and hot/cold spurts). Nice private garden, clean rooms.

Staff was awesome with helping out where to go and things to do. One block from the beach. The decor of the hotel was something ive never seen in a hotel.

Great location... Literally a block away from the beach along with great dining areas and sight seeing. However, I was very disappointed with the Hotel. Although the staff is very friendly, the Hotel is needs renovations 911. When you first walk in the Hotel you are met with this is awful stench. I was like WOAH! There is also no vending machine in the hotel so it was somewhat uncomfortable. when you needed water. I am guessing you could go to the bar and purchase but I was unsure. Supposedly the Hotel is being sold so there will be future renovations. Also the rooms are very humid... i don't know why but the sheets were always slightly damp. The toilet didn't flush well so you had to flush multiple times. One good thing about the Hotel was free breakfast and beach towels. There is also fresh fruit during the day and wine between 5pm-6pm. It is seriously the best LOCATION. If you are just going with your friends then it wouldnt be too bad, but it is not a family friendly atmosphere because you can hear everything from the other rooms.

Mike the Bellhop was the only friendly staff member and also helpful. Roof Bar was closed down. No coffee. The paint is cracking and peeling. The roof bar is closed down until December or later. There is no coffee pots in the rooms and the hotel will not make coffee until 8:00 am.

I initially booked my stay here for a large industry tradeshow because it was one of the last hotels available near the Convention Center. After living in Miami for 3 years, I am very familiar with other South Beach hotels and assumed that this would be equivalent to the Catalina (also on Collins). My check-in experience was TERRIBLE; the woman ahead of me had issues with her reservation and I waited 35 minutes until they could sort out her problem. Upon checking in, I was told that they charge a $300 Room Deposit ($150 if you prepay thru an online travel website) AS WELL AS a $9/day fee for amenities (which are NONEXISTENT at this hotel). The first room they placed me in was AWFUL; a back corner room on the 1st floor that overlooked 2 alleyways and was constantly noisy. I was unable to move rooms until the following night, when they placed me on the 2nd floor. My second room was MUCH more comfortable and closer to what I initially expected when booking at a South Beach "boutique" hotel. Forewarning: "Continental" breakfast consists of pre-packaged bagels, yogurt, coffee or tea, and juice. They strictly limit you to 1 serving of each per guest, which is ridiculous. Other "amenities" include beach towels and wireless internet and DO NOT merit an additional fee. Valet parking is $32/day, but there is a garage 1 block south for $15/day. Overall, this hotel is far below the standards of other South Beach boutique hotels. Staff are haughty and rude and room quality runs the board between terrible and fair. Do yourself a favor and stay at a better-quality boutique hotel (I highly recommend the Catalina) or a higher-end hotel such as the National.

i wasnt expecting what i saw. the room was extremely small and definately not made for 4 people. the whole hotel had a musty/wet smell to it and it was kinda gross. unless you asked them to clean your room, they didnt, and i was there for 4 days, 3 nights. the bathroom was disgusting and really small. the elevator only held 3 people at a time or else it would stop. it was the dumbest thing ever and they definately need to change that. the staff was really nice and made you feel welcome. the complimentary breakfast was good and a lot of food. the location is perfect for the beach and for all of the clubs and restaurants. you are able to pretty much walk anywhere. overall i had a good time, i just wasnt expecting the hotel to be so gross. i guess i would stay there again if i had no where else to stay.

Service was great. First we were in a standard room, which is exactly the way it sounds. Everything was older (carpet, shower rod, tv), but livable. Then they upgraded us for free for our anniversary to a better room. The upgraded room was a lot nicer - flatscreen tv, newer bathroom fixtures, hardwood floor. The hotel has a GREAT outdoor space with chairs, couches,& a pool table, you can buy your own liquor and drink out there.

The location. Had to pay $32 per night to park! This hotel was in a great location, but wasn't as user friendly as I would have liked. Due to the age of the hotel, there were few electrical outlets in the room, the mirror in the restroom was too high to actually see in and the water temperature in the shower would vary from freezing to scalding at any moment. I was quite annoyed that I had to pay $32 per night to park and $8.95 for a resort fee. The staff was very lean and required to multitask frequently. The gentleman who checked us in was also the valet, which meant we had to wait around for quite a while. The hotel is in a fantastic location and was nice. It stays true to the South Beach, Art Deco Style and you felt like you were surrounded by all the great things South Beach has to offer. I would recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget, but not for a romantic or family getaway.

I had a wonderful experience at the South Beach Plaza Hotel; the room was economically afforable, comfortably large, and beautifully decorated. The hotel is within one block distance from clear water South Beach and is conveniently close to the hottest restaurants, bars, and shopping in town. Besides the hotel itself, the staff was amazing. All the staff I met were friendly and eager to help but one staff member in particular went the extra step to ensure me of the perfect hotel experience. He was not only informative and professional but personable and genuine. Being that it was my first time in Miami, his input was incredibly valuable to me. He let me know where the best places were to eat, which clubs to go to, where to shop, and what to see. When I go back to Miami (and I will), I am definitely staying at the South Beach Plaza Hotel.

Excellent helpful front desk. Attentive and respectful. Best location, can not beat the price for the accommodations. I have nothing negative to say. Try to check out the rooms on the 3rd floor! Beautiful relaxing garden for the morning coffee.
