Short stay in cornwallOverall a nice hotel, staff very friendly and welcoming, if not necessarily proactively helpful. Nice pool, scented steam room, jacuzzi and nice sauna in the 'spa' section. Standard Double room bordering on tiny though. Breakfast nice enough, best sausages on our two week stay around the UK, otherwise unremarkable. Quiet location above south fistral away from the town centre.

Fab location and great staffFantastic location overlooking Fistral beach. Highlight of the hotel was the very helpfull friendly staff and the use of the Spa / gym facilities. Bed was not great however and new carpets are required in standard bedrooms. Would come again but would probably book a sea view room

The Bay Hotel Fistral Beach - Great Views, disappointing roomsWe stayed for a long weekend at the Bay Hotel, Newquay. The views and location are fantastic - full views of Fistral beach. We were upgraded on check in which was a lovely surprise. However, despite requesting to move rooms, we were really disappointed with the decor etc in the rooms. I was expecting a contemporary hotel based on the shared areas, but the rooms are old and dated. Well below my expectations. The spa was lovely and quiet when we visited. The breakfast was very disappointing. I would not visit again and do not think this hotel is good value for money.

My first visit to NewquayI visited Cornwall on Business and arrived at the hotel at around 20:15, only to be told that the chef finished at 20:30. I spend a lot of time traveling accross the UK and it is unusual to find a resturant that takes last orders so early in the evening.I felt that my meal was rushed and I had to ask 3 times to get a drink to acompany my dinner. The hotel over all I would say was wonderful, the location was just perfect and I was upgraded to a sea view which was just perfect. The leisure club was good, with a good sized pool and steam room although the sauna was out of order.I would look to say here again, but would ensure an early arrival.

Pleasant StayThe hotel is very nice, the staff are extremely helpful and I had a very pleasant stay. My room was positioned right at the front which gave me a beautiful view over Fistral Beach, however I was awoken early in the morning by the several coaches starting their engines. Not great if you want a lie in!

pleasantly surprisedmyself and my partner had a great stay at this hotel. I had been to Newquay on previous visits and have seen the hotel from outside, and it looked in need of paint and was probably as shabby inside too... however, when we stayed, it had obviously recently been refurbished or changed hands. the decor was modern and funky, like a trendy bar, which attracted lots of young people, like us. the rooms were a clean as a whistle and standard doubles came with a king sized bed! the views were brilliant from the bar - you could see the sun go down on fistral beach.would definiately stay again. the price was also pretty good, considering it was a bank holiday weekend. 90 quid per night i think.well done Bay

Fistral Bay SpaNice hotel and excellent, friendly staff. The use of the gym, pool and leisure facilities was really nice, as was the bar and dining room looking out over Fistral Beach. I loved this. The room was fair. I wouldn't have paid £100/night but it was okay. I did find a dead cockroach in the bathroom, but apart from that was really good. The breakfast in the morning, however, was not good at all. I really didn't enjoy that. On the whole, not too bad though.

Clean your vents!IAlthough the room was clean, the extractor vent in the bathroom was very dirty. One morning I got up to find debris on the bathroom floor which had fallen from the vent - not very pleasant. Also some of the towels were a bit raggy round the edges - had seen better days! The corridors to the bedrooms very gloomy, some scenic pictures in strategic places would be help the ambiance. Great location!

A Place That Makes You Want to Come AgainAn excellent, under-rated hotel, in a splendid location overlooking the surfer's beach, At the time of staying - Mar 09 - it was undergoing major renovations which should significantly improve the quality of the interiors. Bar prices were very high but restaurant food was really outstanding (except for the steak menu; steaks were very thin, fatty and indicated the need for urgent action by a good butcher.

Lovely hotel, with really friendly staff. Amazing views of fistral beach and good quality rooms.I wouldn't recommend the restuarant, the set menu was very poor, the food was with me within seconds of ordering. The food seemed very food service, microwaved. For the price and for the head chef to put his name on the menu I would expect fresh quality dishes.
