check in. at check in which was at 2145 on sunday night, hotel had not received booking. I had ref No but night porter could not work check in procedure and it took almost half an hour to get into room.room was upgraded but this was not of real interest to me. food was good with good room service.

Really excellentI wasnt expecting a huge amount as I'd only paid £60, including breakfast for a single. I have paid a lot more for a lot less- overall this is a real 4* hotel- good room, lovely pool with a small gym with friendly staff. Would stay again definately. The bar food isn't cheap, but is really good quality and breakfast was also great.

original room not as booked given alternative but told no double rooms available, twin room given but the door would not lock, then given a double room as alternative?room quite dated, shower control either too hot or too cold. would have been very dissapointed if i had paid the £220 as shown on the Late rooms page.Gym and Spa excellent.

The hotel is well situated just off the M! and very eaisy to find. Check a breeze friendly and efficient staff. Room and other environs clean but in need of a re-vamp, all a little tired. The food was excellent both the bar dinner and breakfast. Best of all... the staff were all efficient, perceptive and friendly. A good experience at the Late rooms price doubt I would say the same for the walk in price.

Disappointing visit!The day before arrival I called to confirm that I had reserved a room in the older part of the hotel. Even though this was confirmed, we were checked into a room in the recent modern extention. On arrival we requested a menu for that evenings food availability. We were given an adequate-if expensive- bar menu. When we got to our table (having had a few drinks) we were given a totally different, even more expensive set menu and as a vegetarian, got no choice of starter or main course. Dissapointingly the main was pasta (how imaginative at £20 for two courses!) and when we queried the lack of choice, we were told they were sorry but there was nothing else available. We gave up our table and asked to see the hotel manager who said they could have served something from the al a carte menu. By this stage we were hungry (it was almost 9pm) and we had had a few drinks so the chance to go and eat somewhere else was unlikely. The bottle of complimentary wine in our room with an apology did little to make up for the hole in our stomach or the dissapointment we felt.

Very helpful, friendly staff. Breakfast very good. Room spacious and clean. Bar staff brilliant. Excellent value for money. We were rather unlucky though as there was a wedding on (and a funeral) and the adjoining bedrooms were full of excited, screaming children (till 1.30am!) Banging doors etc. Not one responsible parent in sight!

The room was pleasant, but lacked air conditioning on the hottest day of the year. There was nothing special about the room and there was no connectiveness to the historical context of the hotel - which looked quite interesting. Reception staff very good. She paid attention to me, remembered my name and what I was doing in the area, asked how my business had gone - very pleasant. Pool was a bonus. Internet access was only free for 10 minutes - which was annoying.

Bad TV ReceptionThe room was clean . The food from the bar menu was fine, as was the breakfast. The swimming pool, steam room and sauna were also good. The only major drawback from this hotel was the TV. Only the 5 terrestial channels, however, BBC1 and ITV had so much interference that they were unwatchable!! If the TV's were replaced, or the reception fixed I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, however I like my TV in the evening so I will try nearby hotels until they are fixed/replaced.

ExcellentI think that only adverse comment is that you need to have the constitution of a mountain climber, lots of stairs and corridors. But the staff are superb, the Yorkshire welcome is very real and I would recommend this hotel!

hotel room was very small and no air conditioning so extremely stuffy in hot weather. bathroom needed updating and heated towel rail not attached to wall so was wobbly and could have been dangerous.

Coupe with 13 month old babyAll staff very friendly and always happy to help with warming baby food and gettuing us a high chair etc etc. We seem to have a problem with the water pressure in our room and is took ages for the bath to fill up. This also ment the shower didn't work becasue there was not enough pressure to send the water to the shower head. The matress on the bed was extremly soft and gave me and my partner a bad back. There is no fridge in the rooms which was a bummer. Needed to keep the babys milk cold.

Booked as a romantic getaway. A lovely hotel, with excellent staff, excellent restaurant and nice (possibly a little basic) spa. Only complaint would be the room. Nice size but in desperate need of decoration. Very dated and the bed spread was incredibly faded. This didn't really have any impact on our stay though, was just a shame considering everything else was so good!

Good Value HotelA friendly, pleasant hotel very close to Junction 36 of the M1 and 2 minutes from the A61 so very convenient if visiting Sheffield. Very friendly staff. Good food available in the restaurant but also has bar meals. We have stayed here on several occasions always on a Friday or Saturday night so it can get busy and a bit noisy as there are usually parties, wedding receptions etc. This would not deter me from staying here again though. Good sized swimming pool which is not too deep. Large free car park. Very reasonable prices from some internet sites such as laterooms.com

Tankersey Manor reivewExcellent customer service-staff were extremely polite and helpful.Food was good (breakfast service), but could have been served until 10.30 as it was a sunday. Service finished at 10am which is probably late enough for most and I didnt have a problem with this.Appearance of room was dated/worn and could have been a bit better (curtains and linen appeared the most outdated and a bit floral). Taps in the bathroom (sink and bath) were extremely stiff, so much so that i couldnt undo them. I had to use a heavy object (by hitting them) to turn them on at first. After this, the sink taps were still stiff causing a constant trickle of water to leak if you didnt tighten them as much as possible.Other than that the room was fine, and the gym/pool etc looked excellent though I didnt get chance to use them.

Given very small room initially, upgraded to room 64 found it to be depressing due to lack of light, dark furniture and very small windows. Only stayed one night instead of two, would not go back.

Our welcome at Reception was warm and friendly. The room was much larger than I expected and very clean and tidy. The bathroom, whilst being clean, was a little dated. The Health Club staff were very helpful and the pool and other facilities were very good indeed. The bar food was excellent and reasonably priced, althought the wine was slightly pricy. The service was a little slow due to two large functions. However, we were warned of this when we ordered. The bed was comfy and despite the functions taking place we got a very good nights sleep. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very cheerful, often a rare sight at breakfast!! Overall, excellent staff, excellent leisure facilities, good hotel and good food.
