The Taj was formerly the Ritz. My wife and I are locals and stayed there for our 20th anniversary. The staff was very friendly, check-in was a breeze. The location is great - many restaurants within walking distance although no restaurant in the hotel, only a bar/cafe. The room was nice but the walls a bit thin. We could occasionally hear muffled sounds of people in the next room talking and awoke to their 4am wake-up call. I also found it annoying that despite paying a premium to stay there, they charged exorbitant amounts for amenities (parking was $40/night; in-room movie was $16/night etc). Overall, the hotel room was like many others I've stayed in. If you can get a room for a reasonable price, by all means take it. Otherwise I'd look elsewhere.

The location is outstanding. It is in the middle of everything. Parking. Large room, small bathroom, but overall a great place to stay.

Stayed here for New Years Eve. The location was perfect, we were able to see the fireworks from our room, directly in front of us. Included with our room was appetizers in the 15th floor lounge which were very good. Only wish they had more to chose from other than seafood. We returned later for cordials and desserts. Again, very good. We plan on returning next year.

Great hotel. I do not stay at luxury hotels often, so I have a limited comparison base, but I had a fantastic experience at this hotel. Additional items, ie. food, were rather pricey. Spent $50 on breakfast for two people in their cafe. This was a Saturday morning, continental breakfast is only available M-F, I did not get the chance to try the continental breakfast. But the price of such things are to be expected. Overall, I had a great time.

Service was incredible, location was excellent and towels were incredibly large and fluffy. Hotel decor and furnishings are outdated, views from many rooms look onto unkept area between buildings.

A lovely hotel with the perfect location. We extended ou stay one night but did get a better price that on line. The room beautiful, the service good and a perfect quick Boston stay.

A superb location--very close to great shopping and within walking distance to all historical landmarks.

It was well maintained.

This hotel was wonderful. the location on the corner of Arlington and Newbury Streets across from Boston Commons was the best! Walks to the park, restaurants and plenty of shopping. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the bathrooms were extremely small and we could sometimes here the person in the roon next door while he was on the phone.Nonetheless the benefits outweighed the detriments and I would stay there again soon.

The Hotels itself was nice but not updated. The bed was great, the room was clean but you had to dress up to even go to the bar. I also didn't appreciate the $10.95 charge for internet.

Great deal, great place. I told my entire family how great the deal was from Priceline and many have said they'd try it.

Overall, the location/views are great. Food seemed way too expensive for value received. The beds were way too hard. Not a comfortable sleep. I was expecting great things from the Taj and was disappointed. My overall rating is a 3.

The staff was so courteous and helpful. They went above and beyond with the simplest of requests and yet they did not seem pushy. If that's not enough reason to stay there -- having the Boston Garden just outside the door was wonderful. Our room looked over the shops of Newburry Street. I can't wait to go back!

Very clean, very posh. Toilet and door were too close to each other. Excellent place, if you can get this on Priceline you will amazed. Great location next to the park and the subway stop is less than one block.

The Taj Boston used to be the Ritz Carlton. It's in a great location, just across from the Public Gardens. Newbury and Charles Streets are an easy walk. The hotel is first class, the staff is friendly, the conceirge is knowledgeable, and the beds are very comfortable.

The Taj Boston is very luxurious and the guest services are superb. The room is large and well appointed with antique furnishings and marble accents in the bath. The bathroom consists of separate bath and vanity rooms. The walk-in closet was spacious. The Sunday tea is not to be missed.

Very clean and well kept. Very convenient location to shopping and restaurants. Felt very safe in the area. Nice location across the park. Very quiet.

The location is absolutely key. We stayed in one of the newly renovated Commonwealth rooms overlooking Comm Ave. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. The phone by the bed was non-functional. We had to walk across the room to the desk whenever we needed to use the phone. Considering this was a newly renovated wing/room, the counterspace/drawers located in the bathroom area were a cheap laminate circa 1972. The saving grace of this hotel is definitely the location.

I loved the upgrade to a suite with fireplace and view. I could smell an old smoky smell from the fireplace on the humid day I was there. The Taj is on the Boston Common, a great location. It is very classy but it was also very friendly. I loved being upgraded to a suite. The rooms were clean and nicely appointed. I enjoyed staying in The Taj and would return happily.

The Taj is in the perfect location for shopping and dining in Boston. My daughter and I stayed alone, without my husband being able to join us. Close to Newbury St and Copley Place Mall, a walk to BU and the Fenway, overlooking the public garden and lots of resturants in the area. We felt safe walking and experiencing the city. The Club Level offered tastings at breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and evening times. A nice place to stop, relax, have a bite and a beverage. Overall, a great stay, rooms a little small since it is such an old structure, however they were meticulous.
