My girlfriend and I wanted to have a little vacation to Ventnor City beach so I reserved the Surrey Beach House Hotel. First off let me get the good things out first: The room was 99% clean (other than a very dirty area between the bathroom sink and bathtub). It was also (like they claimed) close to the beach. They let us watch DVDS in a LCD TV/DVD player in our rooms. They gave us free beach tags with the room. The microwave in the room was clean( although I didn’t use it to see if it worked) Okay now for the NOT so good things: We ordered a room with 1 queen bed. They gave me 1 full bed instead .In the bathroom there was a roll of toilet paper with only 1/3 paper left on it. Later in the evening, when we went out to dinner, I asked for a couple extra towels. She said she would put the towels in my room. She never did. When we came back the woman at the hotel desk disappeared (it was after her shift it seems and they are only there at 5pm).It was very hot that do so when we went off to the beach during the early afternoon, we left the air conditioner on. When we came back in the early evening, there was a large puddle of water in the center of the room leading to the air conditioner. It seems the water that was condensed leaked into the room. When we went out to dinner, we told the front desk. She said "okay" She was not that helpful. On the website, they said "Bathrooms feature rainfall showers". This is clearly false advertising. It was not even close .It was a low grade flat sprinkler shower head . The shower lever knob was too tight and it could not be adjusted for water pressure (so it’s like a fire hose almost). We had a room on the first floor. Originally I noticed from photos on the site that the floors were mostly bare hardwood flooring. (Although some rooms had rugs) the wood is very attractive and looked very new and clean. but I realized that’s actually a bad thing. The walls are paper thin on both the ceiling and floor. For 3 hours we attempted to get to sleep. 9pm - 12am.( please note that the hotel had a sign that said “quiet time was after 11pm”)It sounded like someone was playing dodgeball in the room above us. I tried to call the number but all I got was a voice mail. There are no telephones in the rooms! It seems there isn’t someone on call all night to handle problems like normal hotel would. It was lucky I had my cell phone. Since we were staying only one night, I didn’t even bother to complain about the noise the next morning during check out. We were glad we only stayed one night .It was a relief to get out of there. If I am ever in town I will look for accommodations elsewhere. When we went out to breakfast for the café, the waitress asked how our stay was. We mentioned where we stayed and she said she heard the place has bad plumbing and other annoying problems that goes with it.
