Clean towels. Sink leaked, moldy shower, dirty room. I have stayed there before. Very unhappy this time. For the price, I will never return again!

I stayed at the super 8 Motel in Mentor, Ohio on 10/5/08, and got some of the best sleep i have had at any hotel along my trip. The front desk was very friendly, and helped quite a bit with knowledge on local attractions and restaurants, which was very helpful considering i have never been to Mentor, Ohio before. We were directed to a lovely little old fashioned down town area about a mile and a half from the hotel with many little shops, galleries, and restaurants, it was a lovely and beautiful place to spend a Saturday morning. Our room was clean and neat and even came with a refrigerator and microwave, which surprised us, there was also an iron and an ironing board in the room which was very nice. all together it was a very pleasant stay, and i will definitely return if i happen to find myself in Mentor, Ohio again.

I've stayed here a few times and my satisfaction varies considerably. On some occasions the staff is very courteous and attentive, even helping me with dinner suggestions. On this last visit, the receptionist was very terse and unfriendly. She handed me my key and began helping the next customer, which I had to interrupt to ask her to interpret her illegible room number. Even then, she didn't bother to tell me where the room was located or if there was anything else I needed. On some occasions the room is clean and a good value, but not this last visit. There were hairs on the floor, the toilet didn't appear to have been cleaned, and it clogged with the first flush. I consider Super 8's to be the best value hotel chain, and don't usually have these sort of bad experiences. Considering the horrible reviews for the adjacent Comfort Inn, I will undoubtedly give this Super 8 another chance.

The Super 8 Mentor, OH was not a very pleasant stay. The rooms all smelled of smoke, as did the linens and the furniture. The toilet in my room was not functioning properly when we arrived, and the only thing the staff did was provide a plunger to try to fix it. The parking was horrible, as there were many trucks and trailers in the lot and did not provide a great situation for safe parking. The security was lackluster, as the carpets were bunched and did not allow the outside doors to lock. There were several unruly guests, and the breakfast that was provided was lackluster as well. The main drive leading to the hotel was in great disrepair and was tough on my suspension.

The location suited our needs very well. It was dirty. The beds horrible. Furniture falling apart. In my 50 years of traveling I have never stayed in a hotel that was in the horrible shape that this one was. The bathroom looked like it had never been cleaned. The sink dripped water. The tile floor was dirty. The carpet looked as though it hadn't been vacuumed in months. The beds were falling apart. The bed linen were torn and so old it was like sleeping in tissue paper. The chair at the desk had a broken leg. I will never stay at a Super 8 again. I can appreciate the fact that this was a holiday week and that would affect the price of the room but how any owner/manager can think it is OK to charge what they did for the kind of room they provided is beyond me.

Hot coffee, sweet rolls, expressway proximity. Filthy, disgusting, bedding, with little understanding by the staff. The blankets had "dna" clearly visible on them. The bedspread had blood on it. The staff spoke so little English; they did not understand our concern.
