More than 500 tracks, or traces as they are called the paleontological world, have been plotted at the site at Clayton Lake State Park.The Clayton Lake site also contains worm burrows, fossilized prints of plants and ripples in the rocks made by water filling the shallow mud flats.

Clayton is a recreational paradise, with the town doubling many times of the year for hunting seasons. We are conveniently located on Highway 87 (The Santa Fe Trail).

Our 31 room hotel is located on the east side of Clayton. We offer smoking and non-smoking rooms with one king and two queen beds, 27 inch TV's with cable and interior corridors.

This hotel is in dire need of renovation. The carpets are worn out, and the place stinks of cigarette smoke. My room faced the highway and I could hear the trucks and Harleys all night. The room included a breakfast of pre-packaged wholesale store muffins and burritos. Even though I had a no-smoking room, cigarette smoke wafted into my room in the early morning. I watched the owner/manager throw litter from her vehicle as she drove onto the lot. It seems that they don't really care about their property. I recommend spending the extra money and stay at another hotel in Clayton.

the hotel was spacious, clean and quiet. we hoped to have had an iron in our room but didn't. the bed was comfortable and the staff were pleasant. we did want a lower room but weren't able tao get one. The hotel was well within our expectations and we would reccomend it to our friends.

Very nice manager.Very clean comfortable room. The hotel met my most important requirements. Safe, clean, not expensive, convenient location. Pretty good breakfast.

The location and the parking for larger vehicles. motel needs some work inside rooms. Motel needs cosmetic work. I have stayed in much better motels and payed alot less.

Friendly lady running it; very easy to access; a place to sleep in the middle of nowhere! Not much to write home about; out of date motel, but not much to choose from in the middle of nowhere! Looks like a motel straight out of the "60's. Pretty clean, but not a lot of "creature comforts". We would stay there again, though, if we had to travel through that route. I didn't see any better options for hundreds of miles!
