Bathtub and sink drains both had problems. Breakfast was good but crowded.

Room wreaked of bad smell. No room change available due to overbooking on Memorial Day weekend.

The staff was helpful. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable enough for me and my children. Our room was furnished with a fridge, microwave, and coffee-maker. The wireless internet worked fine, and I was never kicked off the network (the longest I stayed on was 20-30minutes). The back door requires a key and the front door has a camera. There is a big road construction project nearby, and many of the workers are staying at the hotel. We were there on a thursday and friday night, and there was no trouble. We could not hear any noise in our rooms. The hotel is on the south side of town, so it is closer to the caverns. It is not far from the local Wal-mart. The contenental breakfast was great.

This place was a good place to stay for the price, however, the rooms were not very clean. We found a piece of pizza crust up under the bed and a cheeto..so it was obvious that the room was not cleaned properly. Also, when my son pulled up the floral quilt from his bed, there was some kind of white stain on the blanket under. It looked like milk...but lord only knows what it could have been. The bedding needed to be washed! The breakfast was good and overall it was a nice place to stay. My only complaint was the cleaning crew (or lack there of).

I lived in carlsbad for 10 yrs, the reputation of ALL motels in carlsbad has always been bad! The super 8 motel destroyed that myth! Iwas truely impressed!!!

April, 2009
Refrigerator, micro, coffee maker, table/chairs, updated bathtub. Traveled with grandson, no porta crib available. Loved the refrigerator in the room. The buffet pleased our group of 5 adults and 1 baby. We loved making our own waffles. Room was clean and comfortable. Friendly Desk Clerk provided additional blankets and pillows to make a nest for the baby as they didn't have a porta-crib (our only negative). Price & location were good. Otherwise we were very satisfied.

This is the dirtiest motel that we have stayed in. Mold around tub, dead bugs on bathroom floor. The breadfast bar opened late. The bread and bagels at breakfast bar were frozen. The juice machine did not work. Avoid this place

much nicer than the normal budget hotel: had nice looking furniture, shampoo, a blow dryer, phone books, armoir for clothes, and a very generous continental breakfast that included pre-measured cups of waffle batter and a waffle iron to make your own waffles.

March, 2009
Nice continental breakfast and area provided to eat. Micro fridge never cooled down to be usable.

I booked this place for 2 days but ended up checking out in 1. Horrible place to stay , dirty rooms, carpets, bathrooms, windows, sheets and lot of dust smell, any one with Asthma should avoid this place.

It was about 2:00 in the morning when we checked in so we did not get the chance to check out alot of the surrounding area except Carlsbad Caverns. The rooms were comfortable and the showers were great. I would stay there again.

Good room and location. It was a bit noisy at times.

Our room: the toliet filled with urine, hair in the tub and floor, no toliet paper, and carpet in the room was dirty. It smelled. The pool area was in needs repair. The breakfast area was dirty. The pillows were anything from 8-12"" thick and lumpy. No way to sleep on them. On check out we went to the desk four times and waited with the buzzer rung before someone came. The evening we checked in and found such terrible conditions the front girl came and cleaned our bathroom and vaccuumed the floor as well as apoligized. Overall it was a terrible experience.

Clean, comfortable. It was fine. Clean and comfortable. The staff was nice and helpful. We stayed only one night, but have no complaints. The continental breakfast was good, though if they had some fresh fruit that would have been nice.

The whole facility smells wierd. The staff was kind of rude. The breakfast bar did not open on time, and was out of OJ, then we were chased out by rude employees at exactly 9:30. When I went to check out, no one was at the counter; I rang the bell for over 20 minutes, then left. Had to return a couple of hours later to check out.

Was clean and more or less quiet. Continental breakfast was below average - no fruit , jelly for toast or yogurt. A typical Super 8. Good for a short stay. Clean and adequate with a below average continental breakfast, even for a Super 8.

Computer keyboard for public was very dusty and the clothes washer should be cleaned better.

This hotel is old and needs to be updated. The room smelled really bad and the bathroom looked as though it had not been cleaned. The frontdesk was very friendly and very fast to get us extra towels for the pool. There Breakfast was good with waffles and cereal and doughtnuts. Just go early or they run out quickly.

The hotel was dirty and hot. The A/C was not on in the room when we arrived. The overall cleanliness of the hotel was not up to my expectations. There was still hair in the shower. I doubted the cleanliness of the bed spreads and the beds were old and uncomfortable. I would not stay at this hotel again.
Date of Stay:
January, 2009
They were decorated for Christmas. I had a non smoking room that reeked of smoke and they did nothing about it. I would have to say what we needed was a cheap hotel and we got a place to lay our heads at night. I did like that they offered breakfast. I think the family that owned the place was rude and unfriendly but the staff that was hired was great for who they worked for. It was not worth the money for their nasty attitudes.
