Ever see the movie Psycho? Well this place was like being a character in the movie with the exception that the manager attacks you in the lobby before you even get a chance to take a shower. I have been traveling for 30 years and tonight was the first time I have ever been treated so rudely that I snapped back and told the guy just that!!! I was given a smoking room and I know we had asked for a non-smoking room. Being a cancer survivor from smoking, it’s kind of unlikely that I would request a smoking room since giving up the unhealthy and stinky habit 9-years ago. This of course went on deaf ears. Unfortunately, this was parent’s weekend at Ohio University. Everything is booked, he knows it, and he has me by the you know what’s!!! I indicated that there must have been a mistake and this guy gets right in my face, gets immediately defensive, hand motions handing me the phone and starts screaming at my wife and me and says you want to confirm, you want to confirm, you want to confirm this with my 1-800 management? This guy is literally screaming at the top of his lungs, pacing back and forth like a crazed animal. He did not even try to accommodate my request for a non-smoking room. I will go out of my way to warn anyone coming to Athens to avoid this hotel. Not only is the management rude and apparently untrusting of its cliental but it is also the last place out on the State Road strip and about a thousand miles from nowhere!! I will be writing to the management of this hotel (Probably the Managers Cousin), Wyndam Hotels & Resorts and Ohio University to advise them of how poorly this establishment represents their community. Avoid this hotel at all cost. I encourage everyone to carefully read reviews of this place at other sights before giving them any advanced payment. IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!!!

The Super 8 was very comfortable with large rooms and space. The room was clean with an air condition unit that kept the room cool. The temperature was easily adjusted.

Available. Owner unfriendly. Unfriendly owner. Rude to his wife.

Beware to all parents of OU students who attempt to stay in this hotel. The manager is a complete con artist, and acts like he is doing you a huge favor by allowing you to stay there. If you attempt to reserve a room for, say, Mom's weekend....he told me I had to pay IN FULL, by cash or check, almost 6 months to 1 year in advance...in order for him to hold a reservation for me (this was 2 years ago).Once, he accused me of not paying for my dog to stay there once, even though we most certainly had. Then, after reserving a room for graduation, he told me that I would have to agree to a smoking room if I wanted a room with 2 beds. Then told me the smoking rooms were "very smelly". There were a whopping TWO cars in the parking lot, when he treid to dissuade me from staying there for graduation in June 2009. Trust me, we will NOT be staying in this hotel I don't care if we have to camp out!!!!!!! Three strikes, you're out!!!

The manager was mean, rude and demeaning. Do not stay here. We called the front desk multiple times because the room above us had yound ones that were running and jumping on the floors. This was at nine thirty at night and then again eleven at night all the way up to midnight. We asked the manager to please switch our room. We had a sick five year old and a crying nine year old. I begged him to come in the room and hear the noise himself and he refused.

Quiet, nice clean rooms with excellent shower. The beds were as hard as a rock and very hard to get comfortable in. I would recommend this hotel for anyone needing to visit the area and who does not require a large variety of amenities. We simply needed a place with a nice clean room to sleep in.

Was given a tobacco reeking room. Manager refused to change rooms. Left and went to Hampton Inn. Nice place. Stay at Hampton Inn when in the Athens, OH area.

The proprietor of this hotel is a rip-off artist. If you attempt to apply a legitimate discount to your room rate, even if you've booked it online in advance, there is always a "problem" with it and he refuses to honor the rate. This has happened to me and family members on multiple occasions. We finally got fed up with it and realized he was reporting the low rate and then pocketing the difference. Super 8 Customer Service does absolutely nothing about it...nothing! They apparently don't care that this guy is sullying their chain's name. My advice is to not patronize ANY Super 8 motel. But for God's sake, stay away from this one!

Convenient. Staff. The hotel was easy to find off the highway. Very convenient location. Staff was rude. My room was right next to the impound lot, about four feet away. Overpriced.

Although I have stayed at this Super 8 probably 3 times a year for the past three years, I never had encountered the manager. When I went to check in (I was by myself) I asked him if it was easier to bring my luggage in through the back door or the lobby door (usually the desk staff will recommend which door based on where the room is located). This man became very agitated and yelled at me. He wanted to know if I was trying to sneak in a pet or extra people. I told him I wasn't and he continued to be rude and nasty.

Have stayed here before. This is the cleanest motel at which I have ever stayed. The Innkeepers are proud of their Motel and it shows. They are friendly and keep this facility in top notch shape. I will stay here every time I go thru Athens

Clean. Man and woman at front desk were not friendly - very short. Clean family style motel. Would stay there again.

The towels were like sandpaper; the bed was like a board; and I was woken at 8 in the morning to a man scraping paint from around the window.

Nice, new, clean facility. Some difficulty understanding staff. I would recommend this hotel to others and would consider staying there again if I'm in the area. The hotel did seem a little out of the way, but was a nice, new hotel.

Location to college. Expensive for a Super 8.

Location was convenient. Staff was not all that friendly. The hotel took care of our needs and is in a good location.

It was clean. It is far from the University. For the people going to Athens for Ohio University, this hotel serves its purpose, nothing more. It is clean, but we found it overprized, and it is the last motel out of town.
