I didn't spend very long at this motel, just a break to sleep. There's nothing very special about, but it's cheap and clean. It's located off of the highway so there isn't really much in the area around it, but it's a short drive to downtown Arcata.

Clean, convenient. Slightly over priced. I put this motel in the same range as Motel 6. Clean and comfortable.

We have stayed here before with no major problems but our experience this time was crazy, to the point of being ridiculous.First was the large stain ( about 5x5 inches) on the side of the box spring that looked like blood. When we asked to be moved to another room, we were told that the hotel was full. The front desk person offered to bring up a sheet and bedspread to cover the stain (so we wouldn't see it! ) but when he came up, he argued with us, saying it looked more like a drink stain to him (as if that was OK.) He put a sheet over it.The next morning my daughter poured cereal into a bowl ( breakfast buffet) for my infant grandson, but there was no milk. This was an hour before it was supposed to end. There was also no apple juice. Since I noticed other people filling bowls with cereal and then setting them down and walking away, I asked the desk clerk if there was any milk. She said "no, the manager didn't get enough last night." I asked if someone could go get some (there is a super market right across the street) but she said "no, I can't leave." I asked why the girl sitting next to her who she was training couldn't go get some and she said she couldn't. She obviously wasn't very interested in hospitality. I then went to get coffee but it was all gone. Only decaf. At that point I gave up.

I cut my finger and they supplied me with a bandage.

It was clean and economical. Climbing the stairs. It was nice, quiet and clean but it had no attractive facade and it wasn't easy to find the office. The front of the motel looked like the back.

Toilet kept running, light in the bathroom was broken, could hear the people next door, bushes outside the window reeked of cat pee, floor smelled like smoke even though it was supposedly "no smoking", staff didn't tell us about the continental breakfast, rude to our son . . . should I go on?

The MOTEL 8 AT ARCATA was a very pleasant experience for us. We especially enjoyed the large, comfortable room. When we arrived we were very happy to find that the three rooms were next to each other. The staff was very pleasant and helpful which we appreciated.

Accommodating staff. When I needed to change my room the person at the front desk was very accommodating.

Perhaps the price could have been a little lower for the area of the state, but relatively it was a fair price. Other hotels are close but are not as clean nor as big. Plus, the rooms were pretty sound proof and food is close by!

Good for the price. Free wifi. The hotel is pretty good for the price. It has wifi in every room which was very useful. The complimentary breakfast was basic, but good enough. The staff was friendly.

Not bad for the price. It is only good for sleeping. Don't expect extras. The breakfast was a bit on the skimpy side.

Cheap! Very old - need remodeling - paint/carpet – drapes, etc. The prices are good. Staff workers are good. Hotel needs a face left, carpet, paint and drapes.

This is a good hotel for people that want a comfortable place to stay for not a lot of money. Room was spacious and relaxing. Bedding was old and somewhat worn, but king-sized bed was comfortable. Bring your own pillows, hotel's were a bit flat. Room was clean and well kept. There was no elevator, so carrying heavy luggage up stairs was difficult. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Continental breakfast was small but adequate for needs. Overall a positive stay and great for the affordable price!

Friendly staff. Loud AC unit, stopped-up tub. The staff wasvery nice and the place was very clean. However things were generally a little run-down or out of shape: the tub was slow to drain, so when we took multiple showers it backed up. The AC unit sounded like a generator switching on and off. It was a bit dingy, but by far the least expensive option in Arcata when we stayed.

"This place is only good for a quick overnight at a low price. We stayed 1night for a volleyball tournament in a rm with 2 double beds. Smallest bathrm and vanity I've ever seen. Rooms are clean. Beds old. Service good. Not a place to stay if you're on vacation, unless you're on a very low budget. Worked for us cause we could afford a separate rm for 3 teenagers. Wouldn't want to spend more than a few hrs here. Basically you get what you pay for."

Convenience. Plumbing too noisy. Average motel for the price. The problem is the plumbing. At 5:30am, someone somewhere began a shower and it sounded like an army marching by, then other water/showers would run in other rooms, with the same effect. So the first person up in this motel who takes a shower pretty much will wake up the rest of the visitors in other rooms. No need for an alarm clock here. Take your earplugs

"Biggest room I have ever stayed in, yet at a very good price! King-size bed & non-smoking, clean, & quiet."
Date of Stay:

You get the basics for a good low price. There is no pool! The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, the price was right! You get the basics you need for a weekend. And having a micro and fridge helped a lot!

Convenient to highway. Unpleasant staff (gruff), lack of cleanliness, old, weary accommodations and room appointments. There is a best western next door. I recommend you stay there. This Super 8 is old, smelly, and universally unpleasant, especially for the price.
