I always loves Jamaica Grande, it is one of the finest Hotel in Ja. The only problem is that the food was a bit off, but the Italian restaurant was good, love the pools, the Beach is breathtaking. Grill Excellent. Planning on coming back Aug 2009.

I don't think I would stay at this hotel again unless I'm traveling with the kids. But then again, with people smoking everywhere...not good for the kids. The elevators took forever to come and when they did...they were always packed. The food selection was pretty limited as well. The rooms where not up to my standards. We practically had to beg for towels. Compared to the last hotel I stayed in, this hotel was???? The staff at the guest services were great though.

This was my 4th visit over the last 10 years, This says it all. The facilities were good and the staff most helpful and courteous.

We had a very good time at this Hotel. We would stay there again.

my stay at the hotel was great it was quiet, and very clean the food was great and the staff were very helpful. my only complaints is for the smokers they should have a designate area to smoke it is not fair toward those that dont smoke to to deal with cigarettes odor specially in the guest area.

The staff were generally friendly and helpful. The bartenders in the lobby area were particularly cheerful and, at the same time, efficient. I do not recall all the names in this regard, but specifically remember Horace from 'Gayle.' The only drawback was that it took us some time to access our room. We arrived at the site at about 8:00 A.M. and could not go to the room until about 2:00 P.M. We understand that the the previous occupiers had to check-out at 11:00 A.M., in time for the room to be prepared for the next guest. However, a six-hour wait, especially after a long trip, can be tiring. This criticism is made in good faith and with the best of intentions, as the overall experience more than compensated for this aberration.

I've stayed at the Sunset in Montego Bay several times and although it's smaller it is definitely a better resort. It's cleaner, even during renovations. The staff is also more professional. Although the staff at Ochos was nice, they just aren't as friendly/helpful as Montego Bay. The food is definitely better in Montego Bay with better choices and theme nights. For this resort to have undergone a renovation, you couldnt' tell. The sheets were old and torn. The towels were dingy and falling apart. I was really surprised with the quality of the entire room. The furniture looked old and worn and the hallways smelled of mold.

The hotel offered everything needed on a vacation. Unlimited food, fun, drinks, and tour guides to book excursions. You can litteraly stay at the hotel all day and not feel cheated. The hotel has great friendly service (not tips allowed), awesome evening entertainment and something for everyone.

Jamaica Grande was grand indeed. Initailly when we entered the room I was a bit disappointed with some ceiling looking a bit loose and the room and bathroom a little bland but quickly got over that with all that was on offer. Place is very clean and entire grounds well maintained. The quality of the all the food and variety is TOPS!! Absolute best! and courteous and effeicient staff. Pools very clean which we spent a lot of time in. Would I go back. Certainly. I have already recommended it to friends as was to me by my brother. My husband thoroughly enjoyed every moment. It was our first anniversary celebration and the experience will be etched in our memory forever>>>

My wife and I were there during remodels and construction of the water slide. I thought that this was absolute paradise. We are in our early 20's and I would highley recomend this to people of all ages. The food and drinks are by far more than I ever expected, the staff were really great and the grounds were kept up very well. All in all this was the best vacation spot I have been to and am looking forward to going back. Also the location of the resort is ideal, right on the corner with a long portion of whitesand beach and the other is a concrete breaker. This time I am bringing a fishing pole. They also had live entertainment every night I was there.

There was a problem at first with the reservation I brought my younger sister age 8 and my brother 10 and they wanted to charge me extra for both of them when we had a double occupancy room, i was also made to understand that children under 12 was not charged and it was very difficult dealing with the front desk staff about this matter I had to involve orbitz and this took a lot of frustrating time. however after that was resolve the children had a wonderful time, they have been talking about it every day, they loved the festival and the caribbean night. I think the beach was dirty so i had to do the pool, the food was not very tasty but was a lot of choices, the staff was very friendly at the bar and restaurants. They did not have room service from the buffet and that was lousy. Overall the time was well spent I would rate a 3.5/5

Check in was lengthy, missed the "guest services" hrs of operation time(close @ 5pm). Couldn't make dinner reservations before arrival/ tried the next am , was told that have to book 2 days in advance. Our preference was closed for the 2 days, so made res. @ 2nd choice. Looked in that evening several times, saw several vacant tables. Explained this to a manager the following am & voiced my disappointment, she was going to send me up a bottle of compensatory Appleton---it never arrived! Buffet food was "alright", nothing exemplary. 1 slide was closed/ other was ok, by my sons standards. Children's game room had 2 games operable & 1 beat-up pool table(not what they advertise). Casino ad says 80 machines---only had 16, & 4 of them were down. Area near the piano bar/elevator area did have a musty smell, prob due to ventillation/humidity in that area. Room was clean, ocean view(north tower) overlooking Ochii and Turtle Beach area. 1 hot tub working. Wife & daughter went to the spa---enjoyed it. Son & I went to Sandals golf course,$$$ for 9 holes(had to have a caddy/clubs)--enjoyed tho--very helpful & pleasant staff--nice course. All-in-all, not too bad, considering it was the off season(early Nov--'08). Drinks weren't watered down/ price--ok/ staff was very pleasant (mostly). Out of 5 stars----I'd give a 2 1/2. Would i stay there again---a resounding NO! Will be staying back @ a condo we usually stay at(couldn't this time because of last minute travel). We go to Ochii 2x a yr---love the area. Oh!, if you rent a car---be sure to have every little scratch & dent noted on the inspection report/ usually have no probs in this area---but a small time consuming 1 this trip.

I went on vacation with 2 friends and we had the best time!! The resort is gorgeous, the rooms are small but adequate, staff was extremely friendly and accomodating, entertainment and food were top notch. The buffet had different food every night, all piping hot, and lots of choices. We enjoyed the nightly entertainment, especially the reggae concert on the beach and the disco was lots of fun! The town was within walking distance and had lots of interesting shops.

The hotel staff did not greet us at the entrance; we had to carry our bags in. The staff was rude. It too over 30 minutes to check in and the staff still forgot to give us the towel vouchers for the pool. The 1st room had mildew and mold that made me ill. The second room was ok but the bed was hard as a rock. We had to get two massages while we were there because our backs were sore from the mattress. The drinks are cheap liquor and the food was hit or miss, mostly miss. The restaurants that required reservations were not any better. Spend the extra money and stay at a better resort. I was really disappointed. We stayed at this hotel because we were attending a friends wedding and decided to extend our stay and make it a romantic getaway, not so romantic at the hotel. I would visit Jamaica again but I will stay at a better resort.

OMG.....This resort is magnificent...I loved everything...The staff were super friendly and I met so many wonderful people....I did not have to change money to Jamaican currency... Everything was cheaper in US dollars... The food was excellent... There were so many choices.. The jerk chicken at the grill is a must..Always go early to make reservations for the resturants... I went to La Diva, an Italian restaurant...Delicious... Your tour rep calls you early in the morning to inform you of the different adventures..Definitely try the Dunns River Falls...Lots of fun and it is cheap.. The Dolphin Cove is a bit pricey though.. They have a message board which informs you of the different activities scheduled for the day... for the party people like myself...U have a disco which lasts till two in the morning... The disco is much more fun after a few drinks... Sports activities are cool... There is a sport activity for everyone... I found the spa to be a bit too expensive...I did not try it... Overall I had a great time..And I am going again soon...

I did alot a research before picking our vacation. It was our first time out of the country and we wanted it to be a fun and safe trip. We decided on Sunset Jamaica Grande. I am so glad that we did. Jamaica is so beautiful. It is a long distance from the airport to the resort but is worth it to see all of jamaica and the wonderful tour guide telling you amazing history on the way. The scenery is beautiful and sad at the same time. To see how people are living in Jamaica makes you want to cry. But once you hit Ocho Rios its breath taking. As soon as you step out off the bus you are greeted with drinks and someone coming to take your bags. We are directed to the reception area and it is open and airy and beautiful. The staff is so polite and happy that you are there. We were upgraded to an ocean view room and thank God we did. It was the most amazing view we have ever seen. The room had a tropical feel to it with the not too bright yellow walls. The all-inclusive option is the best and the food was soo good. And thats saying something because I am the most picky eater. The 2 swim up bars were fantastic. And people who said the alcohol was watered down obviously were alcoholics because all the drinks we had were very strong. And boy did they keep them coming. The ocean is beautiful a bit cool but once you get in you'll get used to it. It is one remarkable place. All we have to say is that you take it all in. Its fantastic!!!

The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very friendly and courteous. One exception was we had a problem with the phone in the room and it took us four times to report it before it was taken care off. The location was perfect because it was at least five minutes from the famous Dunn's Rivers Falls. Overall, I would recommend it to my families and friends.

This is the 4th time I've stayed at the Grande and I will probably stay there again. It's proximity to shopping and dining is perfect.
