Staff was very nice. The room was terrible, hot, air conditioner was "hit and miss", very poor lighting in room and bathroom, we were always running out of hot water, no refrigarator in room or coffee maker. Only 2 places on campus to eat (buffet, and restaurant which was only open on select nights with the same menu every night) would not ever think about returning!!!

This hotel is beautiful! We loved the people, everyone was so friendly. The staff was very nice, and we also met other couples who were traveling and made lots of friends at the hotel bar. Both the buffet and the Lotus restaurant were very good as well. I didn't realize from the description that the beach was across the street, however. But they provided a crossing guard and it really wasn't so bad. My favorite part was how natural the place is. The lovely landscaping, the wild birds, lizards, snails and frogs really made the place feel like you are in a wild secluded place. I would go again.

My wife and I really loved this resort. It was very secluded and small (in comparison to most resorts). Though many people don't know this, Negril, Jamaica, doesn't allow hotels, or businesses of any kind for that matter, to be built taller than the highest palm tree.Sunset at the Palms has 80 or so tree house type cottages, each with a veranda and day bed, and surrounded by the most beautiful flower and fauna you will ever see! The grounds are absolutely amazing and we grew to love them more and more as the days went on (we stayed at the resort for 10 days). The rooms were really nice - Jamaican + Bali-esque. The food and service were out of this world. All authentic Jamaican with some Asian-flare and FRESHLY prepared. The Palm Grove restaurant had frest fruit with every breakfast - and I mean fresh - unlike you have ever tasted (mango, melon, papaya) - there were always the staples - bacon, scrambled eggs, rice, steamed vegetables, fresh omlettes, and best of all; Porridge. The cornmeal porridge was out of this world! Lunch and Dinners were excellent as well. They also have a fancier restaurant that is open on Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday for dinner - don't miss it - excellent food as well (be sure to try the Lamb and Pork dish here). Oh, by the way, [...] is the bomb at taking care of you in the Palm Grove![...], [...] and [...] will keep you entertained at the bar and make excellent drinks. Don't forget to try the Dirty Banana: Overproof rum, 1/2 fresh banana, coffee liquor, cream, and I think more rum (dark). Tastes amazing! Entertainment was excellent with bands at the pool bar and a pianist in the martini lounge. Their was an excercise professional that did activities three times a day and she was excellent (ie. water aerobics, brisk beach walks, stretching, etc.). The Jamaican people with their rich culture are the most genuinely nice people I have met. Sure, some may solicit you with their wares and such, but, you can just simply say "no" if you'r

We just got back from a week at the Sunset at the Palms. It wasn't long enough! This vacation has all of our previous ones beat. The hotel caters to couples of all ages but younger couples who need a lot of activity will not like it there. The atmosphere is quiet, peaceful, relaxed. Although the hotel has entertainment every evening but it is not a party place. You can easily meet other people and hang out or just spend romantic time with your significant other. The beach is small and is located across the street - no problem, mon. The walk took literally 2 minutes and a guard will stop traffic for you if want to cross. The hotel is very small which was something we were looking for, and it was nice to meet up with guests at breakfast, dinner, the beach, or even on excursions outside of the hotel. The food (buffet style) was good. They tried very hard to provide something everybody will like. Which is harder in a small hotel than in a mega resort. Every night was a different "theme" night (i.e. BBQ, Caribbean Night, Seafood, etc.) The a la carte restaurant was delicious. It is open, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. One word of advice --- Mosquitos were horrendous - take some bugspray. We went through an entire bottle of it in a week! The entire experience was a great one for us. We will definitely go back to Jamaica and if we go to Jamaica, Sunset at the Palms will be the place for us. Nothing else will do. We highly recommend it!!!

We LOVED everything about our stay at Sunset at the Palms! The beach was beautiful with pleanty of chairs and options to sit in the shade or sun. Our room was stunning, we loved our balcony and spent hours just laying on our daybed and enjoying the sounds and smells of the gardens that surrounded us. Although we were told the bugs were bad, they were not a problem at all. I can't even put into words how wonderful the staff was!!! They were so sweet and helpful with everything, we felt like royality! The food was great, and the buffet seemed to have something for everybody- I am a vegetarian and still found pleanty of delicious food options! The best thing about this resort that sets it apart from the rest is the tree-house villias! You have tons of privacy and feel like your the only person around because each villa is surrounded by lush, flowering gardens. The bar tenders were great and make the BEST pina colada's in the world! Although tipping is included, most people -including ourselves- still left tips. (how could you not when you recieve such wonderful, personalized service!?!) The security was great. The locals have tents set up just off our beach with wonderful handmade gifts, but never came over and hasseled anyone. The only part of the entire trip that we didn't care for was the drive from the airport to the resort. It's about an hour and we were shocked to see some of the poor living conditions. But it was all soooo worth it once we arrived! We loved everything about our trip, and plan on returning again and again! Tip- bring a float and sports bottle for relaxing in the ocean while sipping on a pina colada!

Sunset at the Palms (SATP) in Negril was a unique opportunity for my wife and I to enjoy an intimate escape without feeling like we were among 1,000s of other people. The resort only has about 65 total rooms and is spread out over 10 acres. The laid back atmosphere and attentive staff made our all inclusive experience more memorable. The impeccable landscaping and flora create an atmosphere which is more relaxing and unique among other common all inclusive hotels in the area. We enjoyed the sandy beach of Bloody Bay (a bay which is about 3 miles in length where two Riu resorts and Couples resort was located), non-motorized water sports (kayaking and snorkeling), sun bathing, beach bar/grill, and the opportunity to schedule an short excursion to Booby Cay (an island just off the bay) so we could snorkel along a shallow reef area. The fitness center was well equipped and outfitted - all new Cybex machines will support upper and lower body conditioning. Plus, the exercise area was air conditioned with TV. This is very beneficial considering the temps rarely drop below 70's at night and are 80's by day. It was also open throughout the day to accommodate anyone who wants to work off the extra calories you'll likely consume during your stay. I would strongly recommend taking the Y S Falls and Black River excursion which also takes you to the Appleton Rum Distillery. It is a great opportunity to see more of the southwest portion of the island and learn more about the people of the island nation of Jamaica. Did you know that ALL of Appleton Rum is distilled at its distillation location in Jamaica - St. Catherine's Parrish on the SW part of the island? 14,000 liters per day (about 3,700 gallons per day at 3.79 liters per gallon). The rum is bottled in Kingston but the entire distillation process occurs at a single location. In my opinion, Appleton Rums have no equivalent when it comes to sipping - period. (This is not a paid endorsement - I'm simply presenting my educated/ex

This is the perfect hotel for any couples wanting to get away it from all. The staff are the friendliest that I have come across, the rooms are nicely situated amongst the palms in the grounds, the whole resort is quiet and tranquil. The only advice you need to remember is take your bug spray.

Overall this resort was a good value and a nice experience. The bungalow style rooms allowed you to stay close to the natural wonders of Jamaica and still provided enough shelter to make you feel secure. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was decent, albeit repetitive. The beach is right across the street and is gorgeous.

All four of our party became ill along with other unrelated guests. Some guests were ill before our arrival and others became sick after we left. We had no contact with these other guests. We suspect the bacteria/parasite was in food contaminated by someone working in the resort kitchen. The staff was not forthcoming with the true numbers of guests who fell ill and we received no compensation for days spent in bed unable to leave our hotel room because of our illness. Our worst vacation experience ever.

All four of us got a food-born bacterial infections and were in bed for days with high fever, chills and bad stomachs. The hotel initially tried to tell us that no one was sick and it was viral but by the time we left over 18 people were sick including 3 wedding parties. We confirmed it was from bacteria at the hotel and people had been sick for days before we got it. By the time we left management still had not told the staff or been honest with guests so there was no way to control it. I read on a popular travel web site that recommended this hotel that over half the resort ultimately got sick. Also, the beach is closed and gated at 7 so we missed the best part of the sunsets, you need a crossing guard to get to the beach which is across a busy road from the hotel and the hobie and sailboats were all broken. The advertising for this property is misleading. We would not recommend going there unless you bring your own antibiotics!

From the time I got to the hotel I knew I was in for a treat. Although the ride from the airport took almost 2 hours-- when we checked in the travels ended and vacation started. The staff was so friendly and welcoming that when we left we felt like we were leaving friends. The grounds were so beautiful and there was so much pride taken in keeping it up. The bungalows were adorable with interest and modern design elements, but were a little small. The beach, while across the road, was small but beautiful and the water was warm and refreshing. I would recommend Sunset at the Palms in Negril, it was relaxing, romantic, and beautiful. But remember don't forget your sunscreen and bug spray!

The hotel is nice- slightly rustic and unique. Friendly staff and beautiful grounds, great workout area with free yoga classes. The food was good. The style of the rooms make you feel like it's your own little cabin. The windows are screen and shutters (not glass) so you hear everything and when they spray for bugs... watch out! Crossing the highway to get to the beach is a drag, but easily done. We do not like the big resorts with all the bells and whistles. Overall, we would go back to this place because the charms far outweigh any inconveniences.

I loved the small size of the place, and the unique nature of the place. The food was top notch, and the place was the best resort. Be sure to take bug spray! The privacy was so tranquil and the service was out of this world. Omar was by far the best bartender, and hope to have the same great drinks next year when we go back for our anniversary.

Sunset at the Palms was a beautiful resort. Everything was clean and very well maintained. The tropical environment was beautiful. The beach was across the street, but was very easy to get to. The food was very good and the candlelight, outdoor setting was very romantic. The only negative thing was the bathroom door did not offer any privacy. The door was a type of mesh. The bus trip to and from the airport to the resort was ok.

Overall, the resort was beautifully maintained, the food was pretty good and the staff was friendly. However, they had given away our room for the first night and we were downgraded, which was disappointing to say the least after 9-10 hours of travelling. We also never could get a straight answer about transportation or shopping areas from the staff if we wanted to go anywhere off of the resort.

We have stayed in many nice hotels throughout the carribean, this was one of the best. The landscaping is so beautiful you could spend part of a day simply wandering the grounds. The room was like staying in a private treehouse-up off the ground and surrounded by lush vegitation. The grounds were quiet and very safe. Breakfast buffet was large with options changing daily, lunch we ate on the beautiful beach each afternoon, and the themed dinner buffets were a nice way to try many different types of cuisine. We were so happy with the resort and the beach that we cancelled any plans we had to journey out. We did take a sunset catamaran trip (that left directly from our beach)to Rick's Cafe.
