Great location, helpful staff, however room was small although quiet. I would recommend this hotel. Conveniently located near the train and bus station.

The original standard double room that I booked looked nothing like what is on the website. The room was tiny with two twin beds. Not suitable for two adults. However, after argueing with the front desk clerk I was able to upgrade my room to a double with queen beds. Much nicer room with more space. This is the room thats shown on the website. So although I was disappointed with the original room the upgrade was very nice and worth it. The hotel is located 3 blocks from Rogers stadium but has no parking so be prepared to pay for parking(at least $18 a day). All in all the location is good and the queen double room is very nice. Just don't get fooled by the pics on the website and make sure when booking that you get the room from the pic on the website.

Aside from a faulty and temperamental bathroom shower, the stay was fine. The location and pricing is certainly the winner here... the hotel is located a short walk to the major points of interest in Toronto. It is actually one of the closest hotels to the CN Tower and Rogers Center dome.

We stayed at the Strathcona on a Monday and Tuesday night in March. The hotel was nice. Our room was on the 12th floor overlooking York Street. We reserved a room with one queen sized bed. The room was nice, small but nice, looking recently renovated. We could still smell the paint fumes. The room measured approx. 14 ft x 10 ft and had a small 8 x 6 bathroom. The bed looked more like a double than a queen but it was better than nothing. The mattress was a bit too hard as well. Luckily we spent most of our time touring the city than in the room since the only place to sit was on the bed. There was a bistro sized table in the corner but not even one chair in the room. Wireless internet was not free. There was a charge of 35.00 for three nights but since we were only staying two, they cut us a deal of 15.00. We did not eat at the hotel restaurant but instead found a marvelous place on Wellington called The Corner Restaurant, near the old market. The food was fantastic. If you're leary of elevators, this is not the hotel for you. It was a bit rickity and definitely made you lose your stomach at beginning and end. It really was not bad for the money. Would stay here again if need be. If you're looking for luxury head uptown to the Four Seasons!

We had 8 teenage girls and 4 mothers in our group. The concierge was very helpful when asked where things were and how to get to them, even printed off movie listings and times for the AMC theater downtown. The rooms were perfect, a little small if you are putting more than 4 in a room, but great for us. The location is terrific, when we got off the train it was only a couple of blocks from the station. We were able to check in early. When we checked in, one of the rooms had a very musty odor - there was absolutely no trouble in getting the room switched and they did check back to make sure that we were satisfied. Our trip was super-packed and we were active all three days. The hotel was able to store our luggage until we could come back and claim it, before we caught the train. Overall our girls and moms were very satisfied with our stay. The only thing that would have made it nicer is if breakfast could have been included, but the Time Horton's across the street was nice too. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone with a group.

The location is fantastic. It was extremely easy to get to driving in from the QEW. The location was excellent - less than 10 or 15 minutes from the queen street bars and entertainment district, CN tower, Rogers center, Eaton center mall, etc... I parked at the underground lot next door even though they told me it was expensive (it came out to $42 for thursday afternoon through saturday am which seemed reasonable). Also enjoyed the hotel bar. Only negative is that the room we had faced somewhat of a courtyard surrounded by 3 other buildings and let in very little light - but I was away all day anyway so it wasnt too bad.

I would not have been so upset if the prices where a little more reasonable but I did not feel I received my money?s worth. For what I paid I could have received more are another hotel. I booked a room with 2 beds and they ended up double beds the hotel stated but they sure looked like singles to me. You could not sleep 2 in that bed. So for $20 bucks I upgraded to queens. The rooms are very tiny and cold. There are fake plastic wood floors and there was little or very underperforming wall heater unit that made a lot of noise. I will not be back. The pub was not up to grade as well.

The rooms are small, but very nice. The Hotel is clean and well kept. Centrally located in the downtown area. Plenty of restaurants and transportation close by. Employees are very helpful. Hotel changed American money dollar for dollar. If you just will use your room to sleep and freshen up this is a great value for the price.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. The rooms are small - about the same size as you would get in NY City, but furniture is arranged to maximize the space. Location is just one block from Fairmont Royal York which has access to PATH (under ground walkway) & is a stop fo the airport bus. My room faced York st. which was noisy at night, but I was able to access free wi-fi from the building accross the street. I travel to Toronto a lot for business and would stay here again for the convience and price.

We were only in Toronto for two days, so we really wanted to be a centralized location to touristy things. While the rooms were small and beds were small, they were clean and neat and provided a good place to crash at the end of the day. The location was great! It was just a short walk to the Hockey Hall of Fame, the CN Tower, a few really nice parks and Kensington Market wasn't all that far (we walked). It was also close to a coffee shop and a bunch of restaurants. We didn't have to cab at all, but they were plentiful in the area if you are there longer and wanted to venture out further. Overall a decent room in a great location. Major downsides for me were the lack of a chain lock on the doors, while you could turn on the a/c, it would turn on and off throughout the night and was fairly noisy, the beds were not super comfortable. But, I guess you get what you pay for because we got a really good deal through Orbitz. Also, it looks like they have plans for some renovations, so it may improve throughout the rest of 2009.

Impressed with ease of check-in and room's cleanliness: everything looked brand new! Two single beds were perfect for two females, and we felt safe walking even late at night. Located 50m from PATH and subway. City parking abuts hotel, though pedestrian entrance is a block away. Weekend rate was great, but workday rate steep, so budget accordingly or take the train. Had an issue where I was charged 85 at checkout (because of discount) but I was later refunded by an extremely helpful salesperson.

The Strathcona Hotel in Toronto, located on York and Wellington, was centered perfeclty amidst the heart of the city, the waterfront and most of the popular tourist attractions. A perk that staying her entitled us to was having the subway station within fifty feet of the hotels front door. This made traveling to any locations that were not within immediate walking distance, of which there were not many, a lot easier. The hotel has an underground parking area directly below it at a very reasonable rate. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable but not very spacious and did not include a lot of amenities. It offers all the neccessities for a good price.

We chose the Strathcona bc of it's convenience to the Rogers Center -- our trip was primarily to see the Red Sox vs the Jays. We were delighfully surprised to arrive and find that we were close to everything in downtown Toronto, both by foot and public transportation. Rooms and bathrooms were small as was the closet. Amenities were few, but if you're looking for a good price and a great spot, then this is it. BTW -- restaurant service was also available and quite nice.

Nice, trendy rooms, though a bit on the small side... (two DOUBLE beds??). Great location for the price - right across the street from CN tower, Union Station, Rogers Center. No free WiFi is a bummer in a place that is otherwise pretty hip.

You are really in the middle of everything at a great value. It's a great central starting point for a tour of downtown Toronto. The Strathcona provided a cozy getaway from the constant traffic, just around the corner. I enjoyed eating at the bar/restaurant in the lower level, the food was pretty good.
