I have stayed at this hotel several times.I often travel alone and this is a safe place. They have been renovating each floor at a time. The last time I was there, I had a club room with king size bed. Very roomy, plasma TV,huge tub, good buffet breakfast, easy walking distance to China Town, Picadilly Square, Covent Garden, Bus Stop across the street. Tube station walking distance.

Our Stay At Strand PalaceThe location is great and the rooms look good. The only problem with the room is the ventilation. There is no AC in the room, hence even if you open the windows (It is wery hard to open them and they only open slightly) it is very hot. A portable fan is available however this is not a solution.

Friendly service, great location, pretty average breakfast (not included in my room, so questionable value for the price). Overall a good experience and I will use the hotel again.

Not a bad hotel. Was up-graded to a business room. Location great for Aldwych Theatre and Trafalgar Sq. Also Piccadilly and Leicester Sq. Perfect for Covent Garden area too.

We checked in late in the day, and received what had to be one of their least desirable rooms. It was on the first floor in a wing undergoing light renovation. It was a triangular corner room, so there was street noise from two sides. The twin sized bed is smaller than what was shown in the hotel's online brochure. We asked if any other rooms were available, and even offered to pay extra for an upgrade. The desk clerk said yes, but manager said the hotel was completely booked, and no other rooms were available. Judging by the emptiness of the lobby and hallways, and lack of "do not disturb" signs hung out, I was not convinced. Since it was a prepaid package vacation, we did not have the option to just leave and find another hotel. On the plus side, the hotel's location is great. The included English breakfast is buffet style and the food is good. Staff other than the manager were courteous and efficient. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The room was clean, but small and it was quiet with the window shut. Since there was no A/C, evenings were warm. Next trip, I'll look elsewhere. Being stuck in this room was the only blot on an otherwise lovely trip.

The Strand Palace, LondonI booked this hotel because of its price and proximity to a London meeting in Covent Garden the next morning, and wasn’t disappointed. Location and customer service were excellent. The room, for £70 was small and the furniture somewhat dated but it provided all the usual amenities. A previous customer comment had mentioned the quieter rooms overlooking the courtyard and this is what I booked but it’s where the aircon units are based. My room didn’t have aircon (as far as I could tell) so sleeping with the windows open on a warm night was pretty noisy. Overall though, I’d come back and be happy to recommend.

The staff was friendly and the concierge was extremely helpful. The room and especially the bathroom were very clean and adequately spaced. There was a bit of traffic noise, which is to be expected in the heart of London and no air conditioning, also expected in London. I used the fan provided with the room and kept my window open. The hotel was in a great location, within walking distance of the Thames, Theatre District, Covent Garden, Leicester square, Trafalgar square, The British Museum and The National Gallery. Was on the bus and tube routes, and I had no problems getting around. I did not eat at the hotel as breakfast was not included and they charged 15 pounds which I thought was too high for breakfast. There are lovely cafes around the hotel, and of course, the ubiqitous Starbucks is half a block away. All in all a delightful experience and I would stay there again.

lovely central hotel, excellent meal in the hotel restaurant and good price too for the Sunday carvery, only 1 complaint and that was that the rooms were small and we had a club class king aswell so would hate to think what the standard rooms were like, saying that i would stay here again.

Compliments; clean, quiet, convenient location for underground, theatres, Covent Garden, Leciester Square, good breakfast. Complaints; bathroom door wouldn't close, twin beds, smoking allowed in lobby. Cautions Large tour groups, pricey

Good budget hotel in townNo frills, but everything you need for a quick stay in town. Clean, tidy compact room - TV, kettle, hairdryer etc, and a perfectly decent bathroom (good shower). Bit of traffic noise (hey, this is London), but overall great.

Fantastic, almost unbeatable, location with decent restaurant attached. This was a great value. Extremely small rooms by American standards but all that one needed and clean. Great water pressure and no wait for hot water. Much from the hotel is à la carte and pricey but would I would absolutely return.

I have stayed at the Strand many times when I have come up to London and have always had an enjoyable stay. Not the cheapest place to stay, but location, facilities, and service make up for that. Recommended.

A very nice hotel but beware, the price is a bit misleading. Breakfast is extra (Euro 16.50), internet is extra (Euro 16.50). With these costs included the price quoted becomes less competitive. Brilliant location. Carvery was very disappointing. Staff were exceptionally helpful. In spite of the above, I would gladly stay here again.

The hotel is in an incredible location. Perfect for visits to the theatre district. However, I agree with the previous reviewer: the hallways were very difficult to navigate with large suitcases - fire doors every 10 feet and tons of them. The hotel is not on street-level and there are no ramps, so make sure your muscles are tuned-up. The rooms were very small (normal for Europe/England) and did not have a/c. It was 34-C (93-F) and the rooms did not cool off. Thankfully we only stayed one night.

Pleasant hotelThe hotel is centrally located and easy to find. It was spotlessly clean. Although my single room was small, it had everything you could want. There was a problem with the lighting in my room (I was suddenly plunged into darkness), but less than 10 minutes after speaking to Maintenance, the problem was fixed and the lights were back on. And shortly after, someone from Maintenance came to the room to check everything was as it should be, which was good.My only negative comment would be that whilst checking in, the receptionist was interupted a couple of times by other receptionists who had queries. The receptionist was very apologetic about it, and I appreciate that sometimes interruptions are unavoidable, but check-in for me could have been quicker. All in all though, very nicely done.

This my third stay at the hotel. The hotel is very central to downtown London and convenient to several tube stops. Short walk to Theatre District. I did not see a show this trip because of the length of my stay but if I had more time I would have. Excellent value for the money.
