The hotel has been completely refurbished during the last few years and now presents itself as a modern first class business hotel. The hotel has such a long history. The hotel building was completed in the late 1920'ies and consisted originally of two separate hotels, "FAnix Hotel" and "City Hotel". Both hotels was purchased in 1969 by Mr. Ole Jorgen Strand, and have since been operated as one hotel under the name of Strand.Distance to airport, 22 km. Hotel is situated in the very heart of Bergen city opposite the side of Bryggen. Centrally located within walking distance to most attractions and communications centre / links.

The hotel was in a great location, easy to walk to all Bergen's attractions. The breakfast buffet was well supplied and offered a large variety of foods. The staff was very helpful and courteous. There was no hairdryer in the bathroom, but was available from the front desk. The room and bathroom were small but clean and utilitarian.

This hotel is great. The Strand hotels in Scandanavia are good ones. This location is perfect as it is right on the square in close proximity to harbor and walking distance to train station. Service excellent. We would stay again.

The Strand Hotel in Bergen is right in the center of things...overlooking the harbor, fish market & the historic waterfront. We were able to walk to everything we wanted to see & to the Central Railway Staion for our Norway in a Nutshell tour. Altho everything in Norway was more expensive than we'd expected, this hotel was a reasonable value. The room was good-sized, the beds comfortable, the (step-up) bathroom adequate. The breakfasts were great & the staff helpful & fluent in English.
