We remember when this hotel was being built on a previous OC visit. We came down for the Cheerleading Competition and decided to stay here. Great rate. Excellent view of ocean. Nice & clean room and bathroom. No coffee pot...but we brought our own anyway. I am looking forward to coming back in 2009.

Excellent location right on the beach and boardwalk. Stores and restaurants within the building. They kept the hotel extremely clean and do pay attention to detail. We will return!

Excellent location, located closed to most of the boardwalk activity. Enjoyed our stay.

The room was clean and neat. We had center ocean view and recieved a non smoking room as requested. The check in was a little slow due to the fact there was only one person working and there was some kind of a conference or reunion going on. As busy as it was the clerk was efficient and gave good personlal service. Will stay again.

We thought The Grand was excellent in the housekeeping department. The bedroom part was of a great size, however there was no 'easy' chair to sit in & the sheets were of a 'lesser' quality. The patio was a great size and the furniture was good. The bathroom was on the small size with no exhaust fan and the shower vibrated several times during a shower. The 'efficiency' kitchen was ample however the small fridge froze our soda which resulted in frozen/burst cans. We cleaned up the mess, didn't want housekeeping to do it, wasn't their fault. Our patio door was completely stuck closed the whole first day and night. Maintenance did get it unstuck for the last day and night. We would prefer if a hotel has breakfast & lunch that dinner also be obtainable, but dinner was not offered. The snacks in the 'deli' was a bit overpriced. All the staff was courteous & friendly. The parking was good, being in a parking garage. We would stay there in the future, but not right away. For a fairly new hotel, there are still a few bugs to work on.

The hotel promised ocean view and we had parking lot view. As soon as we checked in there was a LOUD party with LOTS of cursing in the next room and they REFUSED to move us even though they had vacancies. The sliding glass door was broke, wouldn't open all the way and you couldn't close it, two elevators were broke...long waits, and the ceiling fell in onto the floor in front of our door. There is no breakfast or coffee thats complimentary in the AM. Way too expensive for what you are promised and don't get. Good location to the boardwalk and beach is the only good thing.

Got there at 1:00 pm. We went to the reservation desk to find we had a smoking rooom for three days.I called the online travel agency and spoke to a respresentative rather than booking on line as we wanted to make sure it was a non smoking room, as my husband has had three heart attacks and open heart surgery and cannnot be around smoke. No other rooms available. They never offered to help us find any other accomodations. On Sunday night alot of the restaurants and businesses closed for the season.

Staff ok but inexpereinced. Carpet was wrinkled. Sliding doors hard to open. Chairs on balcony old and in poor shape. Location outstanding. None of the hotel food facilities take credit cards. No bell help. Bathroom very. Lobby clean.

The room was ready at check in time. Check in, and check out, were both quick, no waiting at all. The room and bath were very clean and looked to be recently remodeled with new carpeting and comforter. Excellent location, could walk right out of the hotel and onto the boardwalk (quiet end) or beach. Pools were very nice, but outdoor pool needed to be heated a little. Cars are parked in garage across the side street - kept out of the sun, easy in and out. Only 3 minor items: 1. The beds were a bit on the soft side, both of us awoke with sore backs. 2. The doors to the balcony were heavy and a little difficult to move. Opening them made a bit of noise. You could hear the balcony doors opening a couple of rooms away, and on the floor above and below. 3. "Private" balconies were only separated by metal railings, not solid walls so you could see, or be seen, 3 or 4 balconies away. Would definitely return.

We enjoyed our stay at the Stowaway Grand Very much. It's conveniently located on the boardwalk, and near many attractions. The rooms were spacious and the view (oceanview from every room) was great. Service was excellent. The beds were a bit squeaky, and the pillows were a bit wimpy. I would definitely stay here again if I could get a good deal, but as it was expensive off-season, I'm not sure we could afford it in-season.

We were quite impressed upon arrival. The hotel seemed new, clean, and bright--even a fountain out front gave an upscale feel. The hotel's location on the boardwalk is excellent...not a bad walk or tram ride to the busiest part with all the activities but far enough from the action to be a bit quieter. The hotel's amenities are wonderful. The outdoor pool has it's own bar and the indoor pool is heated (which was helpful even in August). There is a game room and fitness center near the pools and the pool bathrooms have saunas, showers and changing areas. The hotel also has a 24-hour cafe, pizza place, bar/lounge, ice-cream shop, and stores all on the boardwalk and accessible without leaving the hotel. The hotel salon offers full service, including massages. The enclosed parking structure is very convenient, too. Rooms were clean and in excellent repair and the staff was helpful. We only regret we were unable to extend our stay as they were fully-booked. This hotel was more than what I usually pay for lodging, but reasonable compared to its similarly-located counterparts....and I certainly feel we got our money's worth.

The staff is really unfriendly, the whole place looks like it is 20+ years old. The pool smelled funny and had weeds growing up between the cement. The ""patio"" outside the 6th floor restuarant had weeds and deadplants as did the rooftop the 2nd floor overlooks. Again, staff very unfriendly and I could not understand them. Rug in room was coming up, sliding doors were very hard to open. Bathroom looked old.

We had a really nice time. We had an oceanfront room which was awesome. The only complaint we had was that the hotel cafe didn't take credit cards and we didn't have cash on us. Other than that it was a great hotel. My husband said we will most definetly stay at the Grand hotel again next year.

The Grand Hotel was a prime spot. In the summer it would be in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the board walk. That was not our intent. Off season (our favorite time) was peaceful and quiet. The ocean front room was great. Enjoyed the 24 hour cafe on the first floor. No matter how early we got up, good coffee was ready.

November, 2008
The Grand Hotel is a 12 floor hotel, with a circular shape providing ocean views to the sides of the the 1/2 pie shape, and have bay side views as well. Avoid the rooms 720-725 because they are with out any rooms above and the heat/air work very hard and noisy (we had to change rooms because the heat was so noisy). The rooms are also pie shapped being wider at the sliding door side than the entrance. We liked the mini-frige, sink, counter space area. The hotel resturant was closed for the season, so we can't tell you anything about that.
