Great place to stay in downtown Staunton
Date of Stay:

Public rooms were lovely, location ideal, rooms very clean. Front desk staff oddly zombie like though ultimately helpful.

The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are ultra clean. The only downside is the size of the room; the bed pretty much takes up most of the space. My bathroom was kind of small also, but a my friend that stayed in another room has a larger bathroom. When I return, I will at least ask for the larger bathroom.

My husband and I had the most enjoyable romantic getaway to Staunton, Virginia over Valentine's weekend. The Stonewall Jackson Hotel was beautiful and the service was impeccable. We enjoyed dinner, shopping and theater all within walking distance of the hotel. It was lovely! We will definitely return!

The bathroom especially was wonderful. I loved the air cond. thermastat in the room. We had the pool and hot tub to ourselves whenever we went to use it.

Great location. Charge to park in adjacent building which was not secured. This hotel underwent a $21 million renovation in 2005 and sparkles. History coupled with thoroughly modern conveniences like free wi-fi that works at a decent speed, granite bathroom counters, and new mattresses. Very quiet on our Monday night stay.

Wonderful Hotel! Rooms are a little small, but very clean. Staunton is a great walking city with beautiful views.

Except for the size of the room, it was great. The indoor pool was perfect for my daughter and I and the closeness to all the dining, coffee shops and shopping made it a great stay.

Great decor and rooms are small but cozy. Probably the best hotel option in Staunton. If you are going to stay in Staunton pick this hotel. Very high quality, staff is friendly, rooms are a bit small but they are cozy and tastefully decorated. The pool and hot tub are great.

I was on crutches and I was given the furthest possible room from the elevator. The sheets in the room were not clean. There was a red stain(blood like color) and the sheets were full of hair. I had also requested a cart from the front desk to assist with taking my bags to my car. After waiting 20 mintues I couldn't wait any more. The outside and lobby apperance was very nice. The services provided to me were unacceptable.

The location and facilities were incredible. Nothing. What a gem, could not have asked for a better location. If you're going to stay in Staunton, this is the place to be.

Bed was very comfortable-but the rooms are so small!! The bathrooms were nice-but I felt very claustrophobic. Nice enough hotel-perhaps they should have thought about larger rooms. The town is OK-needs some good shops and some action. probably would not visit again, too boring.

Beautiful historic exterior and lobby. Rooms renovated w/ taste and modern clean bath.

This is a beautiful hotel and the service is what you'd expect in a small town like Staunton; very friendly. The only drawback is the size of the rooms. I wouldn't even recommend this for a couple. The bed is plenty big but it takes up most of the room. Perhaps the doubles are in a larger room? The bed is very comfortable though. The bathroom is spacious enough and is very nice.

Good location, historic hotel andnicely renovated. No parking lot right on site, but lots of free parking nearby.

Lobby area. They tried to charge me for a pet when I didn't have one. Watch what they charge you after you leave.

Hotel has a southern charm - lobby is beautifully decorated. Our room faced a brick wall. The location of the hotel is within walking distance the downtown area. Main attractions are within 5 minutes. The lobby is beautifully decorated with Southern Charm and architecture. The rooms are well decorated with very comfortable beds but are small. Some of the rooms only face a brick wall.

The staff were exceptional. Very friendly & helpful, made us feel right at home. Nothing noted. Great stay. Newly rennovated, rooms & lobby were very nice. The location of the hotel was perfect in accessing Staunton downtown. Morning breakfast was excellent. The cocktail lounge was a nice spot to meet before dinner. The best part was the hotel staff. Could not have asked for a nicer group of people.

Elegant lobby area. Drunkard men at the bar. Excellent hotel in a nice location that is convenient for college visits along route 81.

Hotel has been refurbished. Excellent value! One-way streets On the National Registry of Historical Places, this hotel is in excellent condition. Our stay was on Valentine's Day eve and it provided that romantic charm that is all part of a wonderful Valentine's get-a-way.
