I was in Springfield visting friends and relatives in my hometown. It was great that parking was convenient and FREE, so no worries about going in and out multiple times each day. After seeing all those people, it was great to have my own space to come back to and relax. The staff was responsive and good natured. The hot breakfast (included) could be better, but could be a lot worse as well. Loved being able to check my email in their business center. Saved me from having to travel with my laptop. It was an easy place to be and I'll definitely stay there again!

Free breakfast. Demolition work adjacent. Great, economical hotel, close to all of the Lincoln and state attractions.

Our hotel was comfortable, clean and customer friendly. The room was adequate, with a nice queen size bed, and a hot shower. The complimentary hot breakfast was great. The location was right in downtown Springfield, directly across from the State Capitol building. It provided a great central location from which to base our travels and visits to the State Fair and other historical sites. The hotel was very understanding when it became necessary for us to shorten our stay. They had no problem accomodating this request. The front desk was very helpful in this regard. All in all, a very nice stay. The only missing element which we would have enjoyed is a swimming pool. If there is any way this hotel can incorporate one, it would be a welcome ammenity.

Amazing price for a very serviceable room located across form the state capitol buildings with a free buffet breakfast

The hotel is an historic site and is decorated in vintage 60s decor and colors. Interesting if you like the style. The staff was competent, friendly, and helpful. The room was very clean upon arrival. The person who cleaned our room did not do a very good job, so we mentioned it and we could tell they would follow up to correct the situation. Our room was adequate, but the walls and ceiling were painted brownish-khaki and there was nothing on the walls that brightened things up. Got kind of depressing! If we stayed there again I would ask for a lighter-colored room. We spent a lot of time at Lincoln sites and were able to walk to almost everything. There's a lot to do and see in Springfield. The Abraham Lincoln Museum is absolutely AWESOME!! This hotel is located within a block of the state capitol and it is truly beautiful at night. We enjoyed walking around the capitol in the evening and looking at the many bronze statues.

The complimentary breakfast was very good. Its location was convenient. The arrangement of the desk related to the bed was cramped. I would recommend this hotel to anyone needing a conveniently located, well run facility. The staff members we encountered were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. The public areas were attractive and spacious. There also was ample free parking at the hotel.

I often visit Springfield to visit friends, and have stayed in several hotels in the Springfield area, including the Hilton, Travelodge, Comfort Suites, and Super 8 (East); the State House Inn is the hotel I keep coming back to. Their suites are very nice, especially for the price range, have very nice, modern decor (in something of a 60s mod style, as a previous reviewer mentioned) and have been clean and very well kept. The hotel is in downtown Springfield, a few blocks from the Capitol and Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library, as well as downtown Springfield eating places and shops. The staff is always very friendly: after something like 6 stays over a couple years, I can't say I have any complaints at all about the staff, who have all been incredibly friendly and helpful. They also provide parking in their lot and one free drink per guest at the bar downstairs.

Overall good. The parking lot was under repair and that caused some confusion and stress. The internet access was through cable only and they charged a deposit for the cable. Not a first class move.

Clean. The beds were uncomfortable and dangerous. The hotel was nice. It was clean. The staff was nice. The room was nice. The bed was horrific. None of the sheets were big enough to stay on the mattress. We cut our hands trying to fix the sheets.

My wife & I were very impressed with the cleanliness of the rooms. Beds were as good as home. Everyone in housekeeping, food service and the front desk was very friendly and professional.

Beds were very comfortable. Free breakfast was very good. No pool. Small, cramped rooms. Close parking is limited.

Great Room & GREAT Bed & CLEAN !!! (one king suite / strange design with closet door doubleing as the bathroom door and retro theme), Fantastic Hot Breakfast with 3 attentive attendants and attentive front desk. The only problem I had was I couldn't get my old computer to connect to their internet service in the room, but I didn't ask for help since it wasn't that important to me. They had a computer in the business center that I was able to get on line and check emails for free. Nice Bar Area with piano. Only down side is no pool if you wanted one.

It was a wonderful historic, mid century modern hotel. I loved the room and furniture. Great bathroom! The only thing I missed was room service.

Location near the Illinois State Capitol was ideal for me. The room and the appointments of this hotel are top-notch. Anyone visiting Springfield IL who wants to stay in a real hotel at the center of town, rather than a motel somewhere on the outskirts, would find this a great choice.

The breakfast was excellent in the morning and the 60's decor in the lobby was fun and exciting. The rooms were very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Very close to the downtown attractions. A highly recommended hotel for your stay in Springfield.

The Clarion Collection State House is a great spot to stay for a weekend in Springfield. It is a block away from the capital and a short walk from great restaurants, and other attractions! We will definitely go back!

Very unique decor. I really liked the bedroom and living room were separate. This hotel is in a great location in the heart of Springfield. It's very close to a lot of restaurants and bars, as well as point of interest in our state's capitol. The decor is very 60s, unique and unexpected but very cool!

"The best place to stay in Springfield. Professional, attentive and courteous staff, great beds and linens, impeccably maintained. "

Front desk check-in very friendly and informative. Steps from state capitol complex. Only reservation isn't the hotel's fault: not many dining options within walking distance in the evening.
