I have been visited this property 7 times in the past 16 years. This visit security staff allowed drug dealers to bother guests, meanwhile harassing harmless disabled person walking down beach. Perhaps security was paid off by the dealers. Hot tubs were too hot for anyone to use. After complaining, were too cold for a day, then back to too hot to use. My mother and other guests had plumbing problems. I think they are trying to offer more than they can adequately maintain. Took us 3 days to get beach towels, and we were lucky to do so. Entertainment was so-so, a definite decrease in quality from the old Trelawny Beach Hotel.

My husband and I have stayed here since 2004 and we have always had a great time.Though any holiday is what you make of it! Plenty to do, entertainment and karaoke evenings are great especially the beach party! Spa staff are the best so friendly.(spa is amazing) The food is average. staff are friendly. Gym could do with a bit of an update but still well equip for what you need to do! overall 4/5

We had a very good time. We didn't go in expecting 5 star so we did not have unrealistic expectations. We were dissappoint when told we could not snorkle when it said this was included. The locals hasseled you quite a bit on beach and we could have done without that. Would have been nice if more of the food places were included and not just the buffets and Casablanca. All food places were very good. Breakfast buffet was probably our least favorite.

Upon arrival and after customs and immigration the Star Fish (Super Clubs) connection is very easy to find. Transfer to resort is about 45 minutes and you will need to tip all porters for your luggage (small bills seemed appreciated). Arrival at the resort was uneventful but could not check into room until 3:00 so had to carry any valuables that we did not want to leave unattended and stacked in the open lobby area. We were pushed to upgrade to the Platinum plan and told that unlimited motor water sports were included with the upgrade. Specifically told when questioned that SCUBA was included in Platinum plan despite disclaimer on the website to the contrary. This later proved to be incorrect, SCUBA is extra $45 single tank $80 double tank charge that must be scheduled 24 hours in advance and weather permitting. I signed up the first day for the next and arrived each day equipment in hand, and was turned away being told the weather was too bad. In fact all water sports were canceled our entire stay. I'll admit there were strong winds, but later learned and saw private charters still dove each day, however by the time we learned this it was too close to our fly date to safely dive. We did enjoy the alternative restaurant dining which was very good and the buffet was not the best. Alcohol was plentiful. We did the chukka zipline which we all enjoyed (wife and 9 year old son). We also made arrangements with one of the tour providers to provide a private taxi to Montego bay for private tour, shopping, and return transportation after Margaritaville.

The rooms need to be updated. The beach is nice. The food is good. This is more of a family resort than most Jamaica resorts.

front desk staff was extremely friendly and went out of their was to be helpful. everything you needed was provided by the hotel. shuttle service for the airport, a tour desk to set you up with exciting outside adventures (we did chukka zipline and chukka horseback riding in the water) hotel provided more then enough free delicious food (5 meals per day) and there were endless activities that were free of charge(sailing, rock climbing, mini-golf, trapeze lessons, etc etc etc) beach was beautiful and very secure. staff was constantly seen maintaining the grounds and landscaping. the one downside was a few small insects in the room. but we were rarely there anyway so it didnt bother us at all. liquor was plentiful. i would love to go back to jamaica and would def stay at this resort again

Almost every single employee is extremely hospitable and eager to make your stay pleasant. The buffet food ranges from good to great! The only issue we had was with the locals constantly trying to get us to buy stuff, even on the resort, and including substances illegal even in Jamaica! Other than that, we had a great time, there was a lot of family friendly activity, and the staff were all great!

Our initial reaction was that we'd stepped back in time to a hotel from the 60's... rather worn, dated, and not as nice as t it looked in the website pictures....however, it became clear that, despite its age, the property was extremely well maintained. We constantly saw staff cleaning common areas, pools, restaurants, doing maintenance, and keeping things tidy. Apart from the driver from the airport who basically demanded a tip (we thought it was specified absolutely NO tipping until we were told he wasn't employed by Superclubs), and a rather unfriendly porter on arrival, the rest of the resort staff were wonderfully friendly. The slider for the balcony door was so worn it would barely slide, and wouldn't actually close completely. The cable tv went out the day we arrived, and didn't come back on for around 36hours - we found out it was an offsite problem though, not the hotel. It also took us 3 days for housekeeping to deliver a plug for our bath/sink, however, our room, though basic and having seen better days, provided all we needed for private down time. If you prefer quiet evenings, I recomment asking for a room away from the main hotel hub, since the daily entertainment, though excellent, was loud and went on late, sometimes into the wee hours. The food absolutely excellent - we ate at all but the Casablanca (the most upscale). The sushi at Munasan was high standard, Guiseppe's was good Italian/American (both a worthwhile additional $ each), and the buffet provided a wonderful selection of meat and fish dishes, veggies, fresh fruits and salads. All in all, the resort provided 3-star value for money with cruiseship style array of food and family entertainment.

My boyfriend and I had a great time even though it rained for a couple of days while there. It was usually very sunny in the mornings then by mid-day it would rain so this gave us enough time to enjoy the pool and beach. There were enough seats to lounge on. The snack bar was great, surving burgers, hot dogs, fries, nachos. The hot tub was ok. There were other things to do, like the pool table in the pool, a basketball court, mini-golf, small casino. The rooms were fairly small and i would suggest getting a beach view because the "mountain view" was terrible!! it was a view of the back of the hotel. This trip didn't turn out as great as when my boyfriend and I went to Punta Cana, D.R. because the beach is off limits at night in the hotel beacuse there was no lighting!!

this was my 1st time at this resort,i had a great time.it was more than i expected. me and my husband went for our 1st year anniversary.i've couldn't asks for a better place to stay.we look forward going back soon.

Before going to Starfish I read over 1,000 reviews. I was alittle skeptical on plane ride down thinking about whether I was going to like it or not.. waking up the next morning to the ocean air and sunshine put me at ease!! Check-in was slow, but even though they had 100 people to check-in the ladies at the front desk still had a smile on their face when they got to you. Stay calm and be patient everything should go smooth. I thought the food was wonderful! Every single meal I found something I loved. I'm not a very picky eater so that may be why? If you enjoy fish try every single dish they are amazing. (atleast I thought so). I was constantly full and so was my boyfriend which isn't an easy thing to do. The beach was gorgeous. I loved it, I thought it was a decent size with the island a nice added touch. Even though it rained everyday we were there we still managed to get atleast 3 hours of beach time! At first I was alittle intimidated by the locals but you'll realize they are all very nice people. It seems like eveyone in Jamaica is! The pools were all clean and a nice temperature, we spent some time here after a long morning at the beach. Ofcourse, it's a family resort so there are lots of kiddies running around but that doesn't bother me it makes me smile. The hot tubs are a hit or miss. Sometimes theyre too cold. We simply told the water sports staff and they turned it up right away. The bars were excellent, hopefully you like your drinks strong. We didn't try the Red Stripe because we're not beer drinkers but I heard it was good. Every bar tender had a smile and would serve you very quickly. That being said, I thought the staff was excellent and always very nice. Not one person was rude to me during the entire 8 days! The entertainment every night is exactly what we as a young couple needed. They kept you going with bands every nighr, parties, and games. This is good because there is nothing too close to the resort that you're going to want to jump in a cab

The big problem we encountered with our vacation at Starfish Trelawny is that it was too SHORT!!!! We had a fantastic time. The beach was perfect!! Gorgeous turquoise warm water, with a cool breeze blowing. The people were great, the pianist on the balcony was awesome, various music groups that performed were also good. Food in the buffet was delicious, service was friendly but inconsistent.. but it didn't really bother us. Excellent traditional Jamaican food on Emancipation Day. Overall we had a great time, and we were terribly sad to leave. We're saving for our next trip to Starfish Trelawny :)

My friends and I had a terrible experience at this resort, will never ever return, and do not recommend to anyone. Food is terrible. We lost 4 lbs in 5 days. Reception desk workers avoid you and it takes 20-40 minutes each visit to get something taken care of. Staff is not friendly or talkative. They actually act as if they hate their job or wish you weren't there. Resort surrounded by bad neighborhood with tiny tin shacks in view all around with multiple locals that travel the beach constantly harrassing guests, to the point the beach is not enjoyable. We just stayed away from it due to the severity of this problem. Security does make these people leave when they notice harassment, but there are several locals compared to 3 security on the beach. Ants were crawling over the bathroom vanity and walls, and the walls and ceiling of the foyer. One of our guests had an ant crawling on her upon waking while the other had a bite on her back. Our balcony door wouldn't open and close.Our third room was nice with a great view, but the one day we let housekeeping clean they sprayed ant spray in the bathroom and we had to smell that all night. Once we got a clean, working room we were able to relax, but that took 2 days of our trip (half of our stay). I am not a difficult person to please, but I do want clean, working rooms. I have stayed at other places in Jamaica and never experienced anything like this.

This hotel was very poor in QUALITY everything on the website was misreprensted. The water slide was broke half of the arcade games were out of order, I also had red ants in my room and woke up with them in my hair.My son had bite marks all over his body there were men on the beach grabbing my daughter. The beach was full of seaweed and the food was horrible. Needless to say when we approach the management staff we were told "If you don't like it here you and your family can leave". When we arrived we were suppose to have ajoining rooms and ALL SUPER INCLUSIVE we paid for and didn't get. We were suppose to have our new rooms by 12:00 p.m. the next day and at 5:00 p.m. they were still not ready. Management was very rude! We ended up leaving the starfish at 6:00p.m.the next day and went to a different resort we had to pay extra money to go else were and lost all our transportation too. Im very unhappy with the over all quality and just the whole resort it's self. I do not suggest any one to go there ever!! And that is the short version of the story it was 2 days of horror and we lost 2 days of our vacation dealing with this.Don't let the web site suck you in it's not what you see at all.

have stayed here 5 times. everyone is so friendly, we are "family" now. very relaxing and lots of activities all the time. nice beach, and peddlers are kept moving by security. we love jamaica and the starfish very family oriented. we will return.

The trip was awesome. Check-in was long but once done; everything was great. Should have had a briefing about facility from someone. Coordinated our own trip to Dunn's River and Rafting which was great. Went snorkeling with hotel - too expensive - should be included in price. Would llike to be able to pay cash for things like the special restaurants. Staff went out of their way to make everyone feel that nothing was a problem. They were very friendly and very accommodating. This is my 9th trip to Jamaica and I would go back to Starfish Trelawney.

Treated as VIP from the moment we were ushered into the private check in at the airport for the starfish. None of the photos or videos do it justice.........10 times better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Covered poolside cabana beds, hammocks, all day buffets, friendliest staff ever. It was truely a luxurious paradise. We felt pampered, care free, and always had something to do. Can't wait to go back. Enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You get what you pay for is the best way I can explain this hotel. It is the cheapest place I could find for my vacation and I knew going into it that it was not going to be a luxury hotel by the other reviews I had read. It certainly was not a luxury hotel by any means and the staff certainly did not treat you like you mattered. They were nice, but if you asked for for something to be corrected like a remote control not working, lights being out in the room, or no pool towels, they would tell you they would help and then nothing would happen. Not until I complained to a manager did I see any results. If you truly need a deal then this place is not bad. It meets your eating and drinking needs for the most part. The beach is alright but by no means impressive like other beaches I've seen. I went to Negril a few years ago and I was amazed. If you could afford a couple hundred more dollars I'd suggest another resort. If you have children I'd recommend it because there were many activities for the kids. I personally would not go back to this resort unless they made some upgrades/renovations. If you're vacationing on a budget it is fine but you just have to get your mind set that you won't be impressed and it's a place to get away from your regular life. Be prepared to be continually harrassed by locals that go up and down the beach ALL DAY AND NIGHT trying to get you to buy things. It never ends and can interfere with relaxing.

"we was our 15th visit to this resort. The staff is fantastic. We have stayed at fancier more expensive resorts both in Jamaica and several other islands (including Sandal resorts). This has been the most enjoyable by far. Hot sun, great staff, cold drinks and relaxation....after all thats what vacations are all about. If you want hustle and bustle stay in North Amberica/Britain"
