Description:
St George's is a family run bed and breakfast with 10 individually decorated ensuite bedrooms. This Victorian house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac across from York's racecourse. It is a 10 minute walk to the city walls, less to the start of York's wonderful eating places. From here walk round on the walls towards the ancient Minster or walk under the walls towards the start of the shops. From us it is around 20 min walk to the centre. There are double and twin ensuite rooms available with either a shower or a bath in the ensuite ( please let us know if you have a preference). There is one bedroom on the ground floor, the same floor as the dining room. On the first floor we have 5 bedrooms and a further 4 bedrooms on the 2nd floor ( please mention if you would prefer to be on a lower floor). Our emphasis is on friendliness and cleanliness. We offer full English breakfast or why not relax and have breakfast in bed at no extra charge. If there is anything else you would like us to get in for your breakfast or for your stay please just ask . All rooms have full central heating, colour TV, tea and coffee making facilities and alarm clocks. We have a private car park and parking on the street. Luggage can be stored for you. A first class B & B. Andy and Jo are very friendly and made us feel at home. The breakfast choice was superb and well presented.Perfect location-a twenty minute walk to York town centre or there a bus stop close by for those not wishing to walk.Room extreemly comfortable and clean.

Good quality and value all roundRoom was very clean, and well furnished with all the necessary amenities. Shower was not the most powerful I've had but fine and did its job. Breakfast food was of a good standard, cooked breakfasts could probably do with having beans added (always good on a breakfast), and selection was good too. Staff were friendly and always happy to have a quick chat in the morning over breakfast. Breakfast time is fairly limited between 8 and 9.15, but this did not cause us any issues. Location is 15 mins walk from city center, and right next to the race course.

Wonderful weekend break thanks to the hospitality provided by the owners of St George's Hotel. Given the choice of two rooms both of which were lovely, with very clean ensuite facilities. Beautifully cooked breakfast and very accomodating when we asked if we could have something that was not on the breakfast menu choice. Hotel located off a quiet road and very conveniently located being a very pleasant 10 minute walk to the city walls.

Very friendly B&B. Easy 15 minute walk to city of York. Parking good in quiet cul-de-sac. Breakfast in bed a small indulgence. For our liking the pillows could have been more supportive and the bedding cotton rather than polyester.

We arrived as strangers and left as friends. Andrew and the team were so hospitable and friendly we felt like we knew them for years. The room was very comfortable, very clean and warm, the food was delicious, the cat was big, the dogs were friendly and we can't wait to visit again. Just a nice distance from the centre of town.

A pleasant hotel in a quiet location with easy parking and in walking distance of the town centre. Staff pleasant and room clean, not palatial decor but good value for money.

Excellent location, close enough to the town to walk and far enough away to be fairly quiet. Would be excellent for the racecourse which is just at the end of the road. Owners are friendly and helpful and not forgetting the best cat you will ever meet in your life! The room was spacious, my only concern was the low beams in the sloping ceiling by the bed which could have been nasty in the middle of the night. Everything else was absolutely fine and would definitely stay here again

We were made to feel very welcome all the staff were friendly and accomodating. The B&B had a very homely feel to the place and I loved the resident big ginger cat. The location was ideal for York races and only a 15 minute walk to town centre.

The hotel is really easy to find and is ideal if you are attending york races. We weren't but was still an ideal location for us. Its a short 15 minute walk to town centre (manageable even in heels - girls). Owners were really welcoming and extremely helpful. Breakfast was well cooked and presented and you can have it brought to your room (which was excellent). Would recommend.

Really sweet young couple who run this for their mom. Wonderful service. Fresh clean decorations & they are improving it all the time. The location is great, right by the \"Hop on, Hop off\" bus stop and 15 min. walk to the Wall in York. But, quiet, free parking, easy access. Everything they promised. They need to replace some of their mattresses.

The hotel was further away from the city centre than we had thought, but there is a very god bus service which runs every 10 minutes. It was good to see a young couple running a hotel and they were very friendly and accommodating. It is a pity that they did not serve evening meals as it was so far from the city and there was nowhere handy nearby.
