Location. The Splendid Hotel - Paris is a privately-owned, Art Deco style hotel in Paris, France, with views of the Eiffel Tower. It is situated in a residential district two blocks from UNESCO headquarters and within one kilometre of the Musee d'Orsay and Musee Rodin. The upmarket shops of St-Germain-des-Pres are one- and-a-half kilometres from the hotel and the buzzing nightlife of the Latin Quarter and Opera are less than three kilometres away.
Hotel Features. Set in a refurbished 19th- century Haussmann style building, the hotel's interior has been redesigned with early 20th-century touches and maple furnishings. Staff at the Splendid Hotel's 24-hour reception desk can provide information on Paris attractions and book theatre tickets, taxis and sightseeing tours.

Continental breakfast (surcharge) is served in the Splendid Hotel's dining room or in guest rooms, and beer, wine and champagne are available in the lounge bar. While there is no restaurant on site, the surrounding area offers a choice of venues from traditional French bistros to international restaurants.

The hotel has a computer station with high- speed Internet access (surcharge) and printer, and offers complimentary international newspapers in the lounge bar. There is a safe deposit box at reception.

Guestrooms. Furnished in Art Deco style, the Splendid Hotel's 48 guestrooms are painted in rich colours, and have views of either the Eiffel Tower or gilded dome of Les Invalides. Guestrooms on the fifth and sixth floors have balconies with tables and chairs provided on request.

Expert Tip. The pedestrianised cobbled street of rue Cler, home to a colourful open-air market famous for its patisserie and French gourmet produce, is just two blocks from the hotel.

Distance to Splendid Hotel is 50 kilometres, approximately 45 minutes' drive.

Getting there. RER line B trains run from the airport to central Paris. Line B3 (Roissyrail) departs from Terminal 2 and runs to Denfert-Rochereau, St Michel, Chatelet les Halles, and Gare du Nord. Single tickets cost 7.85 EUR and journey time is about 25 minutes. Roissybus shuttles run from all three terminals to Place de l'Opera. Buses depart every 15 minutes, and single tickets cost about 8 EUR. Air France shuttles stop at the Arc de Triomphe. Prices are all subject to change. To travel to Disneyland Paris from the airport, take the RER train. Change to line A at Chatelet les Halles and alight at Marne-la-Vallee/Chessy station.

Getting around. Splendid Hotel is on Avenue De Tourville. Paris is easy to explore on foot, and there is a reliable, cheap metro (underground), which runs throughout the city and the suburbs. Buses are a great way to see the city's sights. Tickets can be purchased from bus drivers or from the machines in Metro stations. Regional RER trains run to destinations in the surrounding area. Taxis are available in the streets, but can be hard to find at busy times. Advance booking is recommended. The Metro station closest to the hotel is Ecole Militaire.

The Invalides are a complex of buildings in the 7th arrondissement containing museums and monuments, all relating to the military history of France, as well as a hospital and a retirement home for war veterans, the building's original purpose.
