The Ups: - unbeatable landscape and setting, - architecture blends into landscape, - staff at the reception, in the small supermarket and in the restaurant "Harbourside" was extremely friendly and efficient. The Downs: - in a 300+ $ room I expect other furniture than plastic veneer that peels off in some places; - same applies to a bathroom with a plastic tub and a rusty shower curtain rod; - the dishwasher in the kitchenette was leaking; - no light on the porch; - the room was made up only at 3:30 pm; - check-out at 11 am is extremely early for a resort, where one wants to spend the rest of the day; - on departure day 80 minutes before check-out time someone was coming to the door asking: "When are you leaving?" in a tone that rather indicated "Why haven't you left yet?"; - on the beach adjacent to the room there are by far not enough sunshades and out of the ones present some are not functioning; - delivery of beach towels to the room was promised but not done; - in an upscale resort I expect at least one restaurant with upscale cuisine; - in a hotel of this price range room service should not be discontinued at 12 am. Bottom Line: in a resort customer satisfaction should have priority over profitmaking.

The location was wonderful, the 3 pools were great, there was a lot to do, or, do nothing. There are places to eat on sight, but the town is close by, and there are a variety of places to go...The Mad Hatter had the best food, but they are pricy. the only down fall for us, was that the only breakfast option was the $17.00 buffet. I would have liked there to be other options. We can not wait to go back!!

Wasn't as nice as expected for price but was ok for quiet get away. Food and service at resort need work, clearly inexperienced staff but most were friendly. We'd only go back if price wasn't as high-- thought we'd get more luxury for the cost. $12 per day per person resort fee on top of hotel cost seems ridiculous considering what you get for it (towels and beach chairs).

I went for 1 night in July 2007 with three girls age 13-17. We had a ball. The gulf was like bath water. We saw at least 50-75 dolphins. Some from our room balcony & some 10 feet from us while in the water. It was incredible. We basically lived at the beach & saw an amazing sunset. We were having so much fun that we wanted to stay another night but there were no available rooms. The staff was excellant & the room was one of the best beach rooms we have stayed at in FL. We are coming back the end of June...we can't wait.

We were disgusted by the service and amenities at this resort. It is not in line with what an individual expects when paying 5 star prices. The only good thing about the resort was the scenery. The hotel restaurant served butter that had gone bad. The room service was high priced, late and the whipped cream served with the dessert had change back into cream. There were no towels at the pools. The employees were clueless at best. The hotel is obviously not counting on return customers.

We hit the beach, played tennis (little pricey) and enjoyed the area. It was a last minute trip and although not cheap, a good deal for the money. I wish we'd had more time to enjoy more of the amenities.

Beautiful place. While our room was not huge, it was clean and served it's purpose, as we did not spend too much time in it. We spent most of our time at the beach or pools and exploring. Beach towels and charis are complimentary and you coud rent just about whatever you needed. Plenty to do here. Could use a few more restaurants at the resort, but you could also take the trolley into town for more restaurants. Pools were crowded, but they are in the process of building more. I also liked the fact that they were very concious about recycling and conserving. We only stayed a week, but I could have easily stayed for two!

The drive there was beautiful, but, once we made it to the room, I was really let down. Service was average, for the price not good enough. Rooms were terrible-it looked like a cheaply fixed timeshare and was not clean at all.

We had an awesome time we loved the resort can't wait to go again and take the kids. It's a very family oriented resort with plenty to do for the kids. They provide a number of water sport activities which we took advantage of. The beaches and pools are beautiful and the views are spectacular. I highly recommend this resort.

This is the most disorganized, poorly serviced and overpriced hotel we have ever visited. The rooms (we had two) did not have towels, soap or shampoo; the sheets were not changed daily; the only way to get the room serviced was to complain repeatedly; and the food service was completely inadequate. No reservations are available at any of the resort restaurant and the waits are interminable first for seating and then for food service. I understand that this resort has recently reopened after repairing storm damage. Nothing will repair the damage they are causing by the miserable service they are giving their guests. The prices are insulting in light of the quality of service. Anyone who comes here deserves the service they don't get.

We liked the ability to move around to different activites with ease. The staff was exceptionally nice, though we waited until 5 pm for our room despite being told that we could check in early.

We had a blast during our honeymoon, the place is gorgeous! Staff very friendly, the food is great, fun activities, great rooms, a breath taking sunset, marvelous beaches, and not too crowdy, just perfect! We'll go back!We definately recommend.PS: Resort is about an hour away from the airport...please rent a car, taxi is overpriced!

The beach, the swimming pools, etc. are all within walking distance. Next time we go there we probably not rent a car. They have a trolley taking guests back and forth on the island. And the trolleys run non-stop. It was great. Beautiful beautiful resort. miles long. We picked shells every day. They were very exotic shells, capiz too. I would love to go back there. We loved the screened-in lanai, where we relaxed every day, after shell picking, and dolphin cruises and sun-bathing.

Stayed alone for 5days front desk could use some help very very unhelpful and poorly organized. Room service pizza was horrible. Food near the main pool was great and sevice was good. Pretty far from anything interesting to do shopping other eating areas a good 20-30 mins away. For me this was great as was looking for peace and quiet. Beach was amazing. I stayed in a tennis court villa was on bayside with a screened in balcony absolutly amazing view read for hours. the room was always clean and comfortable honestly one of the best vacations ever. housekeepers were great and friendly. Heading back again this year booking very soon love it !!!!

Nice resort. Very large. Nice clean beach and pool area. Room cleaning was a bit random - no clean towels a few days and a four star resort on the beach (in the sun) that did not offer any moisture lotion.

South Seas can't be beat if you love nature, birding and magnificent beaches. I feel that the Captiva experience shows the best of Florida, and the folks that live there. Wildlife Conservation is very important and the remote location makes you feel that you are really away from civilization.

Too spread out....couldn't find parking every time when we returned to the hotel.....elevator broken during our entire stay.....food average, and very limited choices and times....much better options in Sanibel with numerous places to eat and things to do....probably would not return...

The south seas Island resort was indeed beautifull, however I do feel its over-priced. They should have more options for food and enjoyment. The villa was nice but for the price it was small. The scenery was the best part.

South Seas Plantation was a wonderful resort for our family vacation. The amentities kept our children very busy. They had a kids club, tennis (with wonderful instructors), planned activities throughout the day for a nominal fee and many more great things to do. They had a free trolley to get from point A to point B (our kids enjoyed that also). The views were spectacular especially from the Point Restuarant and the pool at the end of the island. Our favorite spot for our visit was the T-dock.As we were fishing there (a hotel activity) a family of manatees swam by the dock along with many fish and 3 dolphins. The wild life was wonderful to look at throughout our stay. Our children did not want to leave and requested that we move to the island. We will visit this resort again.

The south seas resort was comfortable and reclusive it takes about an hour to arrive to the resort from the toll plaza into sanibel and the lifestyle is very lay back the room was spacious but not extraordinare the pool is nice as it is situated right next to the gulf the beaches were nasty and smelly check-in is a little too late and checkout way too early but those are the rules. staff is friendly at the cabanas and pool since you must tip and indistictive and ordinary at the front desk.
