problem with hot water and heatinghotel owners and staff quickly tried to resolve problem with hot water & heating I reported. There was hot water in the heating system but not at the taps in our corner of the building. Extra heating in Aberdeen isn't normally a problem but it was the warmest few days of the year so far when we were there and room was a little too warm.

great location for city centrealthough recently refurbished, the bathrooms looked great but we were on the top floor and the water in the shower took 15 minutes to warm up, this is no exageration as you could put the shower on, make a cup of tea, drink it and the water was just starting to heat up, not handy if you are in a hurry.

disapointing.terrible state of the hotel when we arrived. they were in the middle of doing repair works to the walls. plaster and debris all over the carpets on the stairs - this remained in the same state for the whole 3 days we were there. and when it came to carrying our luggage down 3 flights of stairs, on two of them we had to squeeze past two lots of scaffolding! no warning of these works on the net at the time of booking. however, the staff couldn't have been more helpful and apologetic.

Stay at the Soprano'sVery clean room, lovely hotel, excellent friendly staff, hotel location ideal for Aberdeen city centre. Would have no hesitation in staying here for leisure purposes.

locationI enjoyed my stay at this hotel. I could not find it initially, and was rather dubious when I realised the location, but I could not fault it. The staff were friendly and the hotel clean and comfortable. I did wonder about the serious sausages on the breakfast menu!! I could not work my shower....although I did not ask for assistance!! Perhaps someone should see to that, but other than that It proved value for money and enjoyable.

1st impressions count! They definetaly were not good, manually climbing flights of stairs to get to reception. The girl on the desk was very polite. The room had obviously had fire damage, especially around the window area which was half borded up at the sides, the room had not been completed, however it was as clean as could be expected. There was no-where for you to put your clothes in the room. My experience of this hotel would have been better if they had put thought into what customers want and possibly having more than 1 person man the hotel in an evening would have been nice..........

200% + I was very impressed by this hotel! On first arrival we were amazed by the location, cleanliness and friendlieness of the hotel. The guy on reception was very welcoming, and offered us advice on local places to go to!!! The girl on reception that night was also extremely helpful and advised us of the change in the clocks so that we didnt miss breakfast the next morning :P something that she didnt have to do but she was happy to help! Breakfast was excellent, good choice and nice surroundingsAll in all, this hotel excelled and I will most definitely stay here again, hoepfully sooner rather than later!!!

Acceptable, but noisyThe hotel itself is ok, nothing special. The hotel has no car park of its own, so the cars are parked on the main road, and the noise for the passing cars can be heard by all in the hotel. If you want 8 hours sleep, try somewhere else

short staywe travelled by train. hotel ideally placed for railway station. there is no lift for those who may have difficulties with luggage. our room was a bit cramped between bed and furniture. en suite needs shelving for shaving tackle etc. also needs a couple of hooks for clothes. very good full breakfast included in pleasant dining room. on the whole a good hotel experience for the price.

Soprano St Magnus Hotel - AberdeenAn ex-railway hotel (therefore close to the station), which has clearly seen better days. However the current owners intend to renovate the building from top to bottom. Personally I'd rather come back when the job is finished, as it seems a bit of a gamble to expect guests to appreciate the bits that have been renovated (principally the restaurant/bar) and ignore the rest. Especially when the finishing isn't great (grubby phone cables around architraves and incomplete bathroom tiling).The building has the feel of a large B & B, and that extends to the staff and guest information book which is witty and slightly eccentric. While guests are clearly made to feel welcome, there is an underlying 'Fawlty Towers' approach which appears to treat guests with a degree of caution as if they will try to sneak back loose women, smoke in their bedrooms or - heaven forbid - eat hot food in their rooms. Definitely a place for those who like hotels with more character from the staff than the building itself.

Main light in hotel room didn't work, batteries were flat in TV remote control & the room was very small.

Tv not working. not told this at check in. 2 glasses of wine offer upgraded to bottle of wine. Since contacting the hotel have been told that this was unconditional. not told this at time and led to believe that inorder to get this had to eat at hotel. so therefore spent more money.

The hotel bar and restaurant was very nice and the food was good. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The room was very small and cramped and the maintenece and repair of the fixture and fittings was dissapointing. I would not stay in the hotel again purley because of the room I was given.
