Just got back from New York and loved staying at the Sofitel. The staff were very helpful and the location of the hotel is ideal. We didn't seem to have to walk far to see some of the greatest sights in New York. The hotel room was very nice, and we enjoyed every minute of our stay at the Sofitel.

This hotel is within walking distance of Times Square and the subway. There are nice restaurants nearby. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are are nicely decorated and furnished. There is a very lovely and comfortable lobby. Overall, I highly recommend it for a stay during your New York visit.

The smiles at the front door only kept resonating throughout the room and lobby and the entire building...The room was cozy and comfy with attention to detail that made you wish this were home. The complimentary evian bottles by the nightstand to help wet the hangover hurties, the citrus scented candle and shampoos to inspire smiles and serenity, the slippers, the robe, the blowdryer and the tub and seperate shower...how many words do we get?;-) The best part is the bed. Cozy enough to knock you out like mama said, supportive enough to help you spring to life in the morning. kudos!

Loved everything --especially courteous, friendly staff, comfy rooms and beds, and location! You are within a short walk to Rockefeller Center, Times Square, public transportation, shopping, and neighborhood restaurants. Quiet rooms are well-insulated to protect from city traffic and noisy neighbors. All interactions with staff were positive--front desk, concierge, housekeeping, bell men (especially one who called to find us a late-night restaurant). It will be my choice for NYC adventures!

Sofitel is a beautiful hotel in a very central location on W. 44th Street. It is walking distance to Times Square (about 2 blocks), to Rockefeller Center,Bryant Park,5th Ave and close to the subway. The staff was excellent, very friendly and always helpful. Our room was beautiful, very quiet and had a nice view on the 17th floor. Ask for the highest floor possible. The lower floors don't have much of a view. The bathroom was very nice, mostly marble and had a separate shower, with a candle and fresh flower. Housekeeping kept everything very clean and they even have turn down service with free bottled Avian water at night. The bed was almost too comfortable. The heavy duvet was too warm at night. The only complaint I have is that there was no top sheet to use in place of the duvet. The concierge knows everything about New York and was eager to help and very friendly. The doormen were always friendly and opening doors when we came and went. Drinks at the restaurant bar were good (but expensive). Order the hummus as an appetizer. It was awesome! We just LOVED the Sofitel and will definitely stay there on our next visit to New York. **Tip- If you want to avoid the expensive breakfasts at the hotel restaurant, there is a diner very close to the hotel called the Red Flame. The food is great, inexpensive, and the service is excellent. We ate breakfast there all 4 days while visiting. As you exit the hotel, take a right and the Red Flame is just a short distance down the street on the right.

Loved this location! Easy walking to most everything we wanted to do. The a/c doesn't work especially well and the rooms had lovely duvets instead of top sheets which were just to hot to use.

From bellman to front desk to room service, the Sofitel defines excellent service. The chaos of Times Square fads immediately upon entering the hotel front door. The Sofitel replaces it with beauty and graceful service. I would stay there every time I come to New York, if I could.

Beautiful Hotel, Beautiful luxurious rooms, The best bed I have slept on in 10 years, The staff was helpful, courteous, knowledgable, ready to make any reservation for us, and suggested great things. Early check in was no problem. The hotel was located on a dise street but easy to get either uptown or down town, because it was very centrally located. Two doors down was DB Bistro and excellent resterant, and two doors from that a great little coffee shop to go and get our morning coffee and a muffin very inexpensively, ( I like that because it irritates me to spend 15.00 for a pot of coffee) Really a great four to five star hotel for a great value.

A wonderful oasis in the middle of all that New York is about. Once inside it was so peaceful. Concierge personel go out of their way to make everything easy. Close proximetry to access any point in Manhatten either by foot, bus or subway.

Location, ambiance, and staff. We liked everything. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I felt that the experience nice. The room was larger than we've typically experienced in New York. The atmosphere was elegant, yet comfortable. We felt safe and secure. We would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future.

Between the magnificent French painted murals, the fully staffed floor, the brand new surroundings and the oversized fresh flower arrangements…you would think you are staying with in an ultra modern easy going mansion in the Middle of Manhattan. Food is forgetaboutit wonderful. If come here for the bed and the food alone and you will be a happy guest. Comfortable!

The main strength of this hotel is its staff-particularly the bellhop and doorman. Never having been to Manhattan (or staying in a Sofitel hotel for that matter), I found these gentlemen to be extremely knowledgeable, professional and down right fun to talk with. The rest of the staff, concierge, reception, etc. did a tremendous job of making us feel comfortable and valued as customers. I cannot over emphasize the latter. I have been to many 4 and 5 star hotels across the US and it is a rare thing indeed. I look forward to staying with them again.

I checked in several hours before check in time and was given a room with a terrible view that looked out into the backs of several buildings. I was disappointed and went back to lobby to see if I could get a room on a higher floor. I was told that I could but that I would have to wait until check in time. It was worth the wait. I got a room with a fantastic view. The hotel staff was very accomodating and all of them were very friendly and helpful.

The staff was far better than I expected from a French hotel. Obviously in need of a remodel, charged for local calls and internet access. The staff was far better than I expected from a French hotel. In bad need of a remodel, charged for local calls and internet access. Great location.

We chose this hotel to be centered in NY. It did, in fact, provide to be a perfect location, centrally located, yet out of the hub-bub of Times Square. The hotel has been nicely renovated, rooms are large, bathrooms are large, all is very clean, pillows and blankets were exceptional, staff was friendly and helpful, lounge was good. No negative comments.

It was our first time to New York and it was a 3 generation of "girls" trip. The oldest in their 60's and the youngest was 9. The hotel was clean and the concierge very helpful. The concierge was available for questions, made good suggestions for dining and tourist events (even if we didn't do some of them) and were very helpful in getting tickets to things like the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island tours. For us "rookie" New York tourists, we felt the location was fantastic as we like to walk and it was easy to walk to Fifth Avenue, Times Square, Broadway Shows & Rockefeller Center etc. The location also made it easy to get to buses and the subway. There was a "runner" in the group and easy to get to Central Park and get in a good run. The rooms were clean and well attended. We had a couple of problems at check in but believe it was because of the 3rd party booking and the hotel did their best to correct it (even though they probably were not at fault) There were 3 computers available - at no charge which made it easy to keep up with work and check on things while away. I have travelled all over the world and I would definately recommend this hotel because of it's location, cleanliness, & courteous and helpful staff. Probably not the least expensive stay in the city but we felt it was off-set by the location and time and money saved by being convenient to many area attractions.
