Excellent hotel, Very good food with friendly helpful staffI really enjoyed my week in The Smithaleigh Hotel. The room was clean and very comfortable. The food in the restaurant, Bistro 38 was very good. It was so good I eat there every night.

Value for Money Accom.Good value for money, the rooms are nice but could do with a good clean in the bathroom. Also staying next to the road it was very noisey!

I had a warm welcome when i arrived, and the food was excellent. Wireless didnt work. The accomodation was run down and tired, the room itself was very dark with no available plug points which was a bit of a pain.

Fantastic find for one night stay after returning from France. Afew miles outside of Plymouth off the A38. Not the easiest place to find but a fantastic sized room for a family with extremely comfortable Super King size bed, bunkbeds, cot and fold away bed for the larger family. Also room for a sofa! Great find and would definately use again. Didn't sample the food but the menus looked great and didn't cost a fortune!

Brilliant!Great value for money and would definitely stay again and recommend to my friends! Room was clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed - slept like a baby. The food was excellent!!!! Definitely coming back again, very friendly and welcoming staff.

Stop over for ferry to FranceThought the Hotel was briliiant and would certainly stay there again, warm welcome, bar came in very handy after a 6 hour journey. The only thing I would mention if you are on a ground floor you do hear people upstairs.

The afternoon that we checked into the hotel they were hosting a wedding reception and although busy check - in was quick and efficient. We could have eaten in the bar area for an evening meal but decided due to the busyness we would eat in the local pub down the road. Breakfast was good although to only be given a cup of tea or coffee and not pots was a bit disappointing. Altogether a good experience and for what we needed was good value for money.

Main complaint with room 7 very cold and draughty, bathroom no heating freezing! Awoke at 6am by person in room above getting ready with creeking floorboards.

The hotel looks like it is centred around a complex of old historic buildings with some modern additions.There is a large car park which can easily accomodate larger vehicles, or people towing boats or caravans. Access from the main Plymouth road is excellent, being only a minute away on the side road. The village itself has a petrol station and a Little Chef Restaurant only a 2 minute walk from the hotel. Friendly staff at Reception, a good sized dining room and well stocked bar. Modern, clean well heated rooms with a good quality bed. No complaints from me regarding any aspect of my stay; the hotel is very quiet even though the main road to Plymouth is very close by. I'd be happy to stay there again.

The accommodation was extremely clean, well decorated, modern, comfortable and well equipped. The staff could not be more polite and helpful and the only thing I can say about the Full English Breakfast was it was far too big for me, but very very tasty and well cooked (very good value for money). I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

A bit difficault to evaluate this hotel as it was literally throwing it down with rain all the time we were there and as the bar/restaraunt is a outside walk away from the accommodation, we go saturated just going across from room to Dinner and breakfast then next day. Room was okay, nothing to shout home about, but for a one night stay was adequate.

Although very quiet at this time the staff still maintained the service and friendliness. The room was warm comfortable and well appointed and ideal for the purpose of visit which was to meet up with friends and relatives in the Devon area. Easy access to the main A38 Exeter to Plymouth trunk road (in both directions!).The food for dinner and breakfast was freshly cooked and of excellent quality, reasonably priced and well served.
