Nothing the hotel can do about it due to the way the building was constructed, but the bathrooms are extremely small.

Friendliness of staff and convenience. Room was very small.

The only downside, it would have been nice to have tea making facilities in the room. The location could not have been better.. and staff very friendly especially on reception and also a special mention for Chelsey in the cocktail bar, who was delightful and very efficient. We would have no hesitation in staying there again

Rooms were small but clean. Interesting atmosphere since it was an older hotel. Main issue was the noise. Very easy to hear your neighbor on either side of you. Since it is in a busy area, the outside noise can also be a problem. On the other hand, it is a good location if you want to see some of the main sights downtown and do some good shopping. It also allows smoking, so even though we were on a non-smoking floor, the smoke smell drifted down to our room. Was here on business and would not likely chose to stay in this hotel again. Hotel staff was also not very helpful in offering recommendations for things to do or restaurants. Not worth it for the money.

I was initially put in a room designed for individuals confined to will chairs...all of the mirrors were at waist level making it impossible for me to see myself unless I bent over. When I asked to get a different room I was placed in a tiny little room with a bathroom so small that I literally could touch all four walls when standing in the middle of the bathroom, and I had to put the lid down on th toilet in order to accomodate my toiletries bag...no vanity, no shelfs, noting but an undersized sink, toilet and dirty tub! This room could not have been more than a total of 150 square feet...I challenge the hotel to differ with this estimate, and this was listed a a "Deluxe King Room" at a nightly rate of 279. per night. Oh, did I mention that my overcoat (a fairly new Christian Dior garment) was stolen from my room...and the staff could only say I must have misplaced it! I have stayed at several hotels in San Francisco...this was by far worst!

My Husband and I flew from Orange County and we arrived at SFO at 8:10 AM.We went to the Sir Frances Drake Hotel expecting to sit around and wait for a room til check in which is at 3pm... but it was the opposite! The Hotel representative grabbed our bags and said "we have a room ready now" My Husband and I were very happy and free to enjoy the rest of the morning, without lugging our bags everywhere!!!Thank you for that Sir Frances Drake!!! We will come again! The Kenlein's

Myself and 14 others were stuck in an elevator. They security just nocked on the door and left. 30 min later the firemen came and said that they were unable to get assistance in shutting the electricity off and uplled us out even though the elevator could have moved and "cut us in half". The hotel does not seem to care.Going down the stairs the emergency exit said "for employees only"The men in the loby upstairs should have prevented everyone from hopping iin, but he was just hanging around. This has happened before, but not too often. We were stuck in between floors and the hotel did noting to assist. We called 911 on our own cell phone. The put my life in danger and i'm sure yours will be if you choose to stay there.

Very central location - right next to Union Square. This is a hotel for tourists - complete with doormen in beefeater uniforms. Our room was tiny (and the bathroom was minuscule) and obviously had not been renovated in ages. Nonetheless it was serviceable and clean. We did not look over the street and it was very quiet. It was not a luxurious, elegant or stylish hotel (as described in its profile) but it was decent. It is old and has some character.

my husband and i enjoyed our stay at this hotel. its location is great right on union square close to good restaurants, shopping and the cable car. the staff were helpful and the hotel itself has an old world charm and warmth about it.

My husband and I stayed here for one night for a romantic getaway. The hotel has a very old feel. They renovated it a while back but the renovations don't fit the style of the rooms. The bathroom was TINY. You could hear EVERYTHING going on outside your door and outside the hotel. The elevators were VERY scary and you felt like you were hanging literally by a rubber band. The live band and dancing in the Starlight lounge were fun but definitely NOT WORTH THE * we paid to stay there. Find another hotel nearby for a better value for your money.

First time staying at the Drake, and was quite pleasant. The check-in staff were very helpful, helping us find a room suitable for our tastes & needs. The location is excellent, literally only a few steps from Union Square and all the major shops (Macy's, Bloomingdales, etc) with plenty of restaurant choices within walking distance or a short cab ride away. The trolley runs directly in front of the hotel, making touring around the city quick & easy. Good overall experience, would definitely go back to the Drake, but would make sure on the room specifications when checking in ;)
