Where is that pristine nature of which we have read in books? Why do we go on fouling the environment in so many ways? Why does it not cross our mind that we use it to further generations that they should breathe clean air and drink safe water? When I am overtaken by such thoughts I crave for being in the wilderness surrounded by nothing but green meadows and hills. As a result, I have been to many parts of the country not yet invaded by tourists in their thousands. This time I took my family to the Dooars, of which we had heard a lot and booked our stay at Sinclairs Retreat of which we read in travel columns in newspapers and magazines. On arriving at the resort I felt I was in heaven. Surrounded by greenery on all sides, the place brought out the child in me. There is beauty all around you. A warm welcome and a glass of fresh juice proved to be spirit lifting. We fell in love with the place and couldn’t help exploring the resort straightaway rather than resting. One could not ask for a more spacious room which was spotlessly clean. I will give full marks to house keeping. The atmosphere was so peaceful that we felt relaxed in a way we are not to experience back home. The food at the resort exceeded our expectations and we made good use of that. The resort also helped arrange activities like trekking and white water rafting. These were adventures we never had, in the past. In all, our journey into nature was such that it will make me come back to Chalsa. Have I not become a conservationist because of what I saw in and around the resort?
