Review of StayI have stayed previously and was happy to return but after this visit I wont be back. The main issue was I was given a so called Executive room that was located at the front door and on street level. My pillow was basically adjacent to the front door, that was not the perfect location to obtain a good night sleep - especially as people are coming and going at all hours. Also the room was warm - but I never felt totally comfortable leaving the window to the street open at night. I asked to change room with no luck. The TV signal conked out and I had to tell them. Breakfast the 1st day was chaos. Luckily I had a seat. The main gripe is that I have been charged top dollar for a very below standard room.

Silver Springs - what a little gemJust returned from Exeter after 2 nights at the Silver Springs. from the start we knew this was a great place - on arrival help with the luggage, shown where to park and then given a nice pot of tea (with some very nice biscuits) whist sitting in the sun in the back garden. Room was great and so quite - we live in the middle of a city and this was almost like living in the country side by being surrounded by bird song.Breakfast - fantastic!. Freshly cooked to order and great tasting, fresh fruit available, attentive staff, no rush and spotless. What a great a relaxing place - we has stayed at the thistle the previous weekend (awful) and what a contrast Silver Springs turned out to be - one to return to.

Fantastic place to stayWell organised, firendly, clean, convenient. The room has a robe, iron and board, cafetiere and tea making facilities. tv and dvd plus all other necessities... oh yes and a power shower. The reception has a great range of dvds to borrow and I even got to print out my return fight boarding pass through reception. Terrace and parking at the rear as well. The breakfast was a great start to the day, beautifully presented and catered for all needs/wants.

The staff were extremely helpful. The room was dated, tired and very small for a deluxe room. When booking the details said a complimentary bottle of wine. I think that a bottle of wine is generally expected to be 750 mls this was only a small one (250mls) I think that this is misleading. We were also promised a compllimentary spring water, this came in a reusable bottle and I am sure that it was tap water (horrible chemical taste). The breakfast room was cold as was the bathroom. After reading the reviews we were very disappointed. We stay in hotels for business and pleasure many times over the year and we did not feel that this represented good value for money.

Really friendly and comfortable hotel. Warm and welcoming. Conveniently located just outside centre. Quiet street. Free wifi and free DVDs. Would definitely stay here again for business or pleasure.

I have stayed at Silver Springs on a regular basis since April'08 and they STILL maintain their superb customer service, the rooms are a good size and well furnished. Breakfast still varied and delicious. I don’t know of any other hotel who can claim this throughout the whole year! My previous comment (April - below) about their fishpond is no longer an issue as it was actually their Wormery which has now been removed. I have discovered an excellent Indian restaurant across the road but if this is not your thing, the town centre is only a 10 minute walk away. If I visit Exeter in 2009 I will certainly return. Here's wishing Juliet and her team a happy Christmas and a prosperous new year!!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the hotel, and was particularly impressed that they chose an eco-taxi firm when making a booking on my behalf.

I stay in Exeter most weeks and this has got to be one of the best hotels for all-round quality, all be it rather on the small side with no restaurant (which is a great pity as this is the only thing that lets it down personally for me). The staff, throughout my stay were very friendly and helpful. I'll slip in a couple of gripes before I continue with the good stuff... Parking appears a little awkward as there is limited space for manoeuvring with broken walls and debris around which doesn’t help the tyres when turning. Upon arrival they have a fish pond that you have to go past, which really stank, not a good 1st impression! Thankfully, it all got a lot better once I got to my room, and this is when you're hit by the high quality of the hotel, everything from the lighting, bedding and general decoration was of a very high standard, all the little things that most other hotels don't bother with. I did have 1 problem, I could not adjust the shower attachment, it kept moving around on its own and I couldn’t point it downwards, a bit frustrating. The bed was very comfortable and I had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was fantastic with a good selection of cereals, fruit juices, tea/coffee, toast and of course a full English, which was cooked to perfection! Silver Springs is booked out weeks ahead and it is easy to see why. Give it a go!

A small. quiet, cosy and friendly hotel, in a low traffic side street. A good selection of DVDs to borrow (player in every room) and a very relaxed atmosphere, with good showers etc. and recently decorated.

For less than the price of many hotels in the area i got a much cleaner room, with a large comfy bed. The additional touches, like chocolates & a small bottle of wine in the room exceeded my expectations for a B and B. The breakfast options were plentiful, all fresh & everything you could imagine was on offer. I will definately book in here next time i'm in town on business.

Very clean, well decorated and comfortable room and very well equipped. Friendly greeting and offer of a hot or cold drink on arrival was a nice touch. Conveniently situated near Town Centre and Station but quiet. Only slight drawback was that the room (a single) was very small and bathroom even smaller.

The room was small but well appointed with all the facilities expected in a high quality hotel. The breakfast was excellent and the hotel was very clean.

A nice small hotel not far from the city center shops and bars, parking was a little tight to the rear of the property but was not expecting the car park so this was a bonus as there was not much space on the narrow streets

The landlady was very consderate to offer us a pot ot English tea when we arrive in the evening. Indeed that was very comforting after a long flight from Hong Kong and a two and a half hour journey from London. The room is clean and comfortable. We also enjoyed the breakfast very much.

Good position in Exeter, the breakfast was good. Nice touches in room, and although not the largest room we have stayed in had everything we required. Would not recomend for people with mobility issues. There was off road parking around the back, although a bit tight to get to, although not unexpected for a hotel in such a central location.
