Unexpectable good. The place is beautiful and a internation standard services. Very close to the beach, this is the advantage. The staffs are pretty nice overthere and the facilities in the room are enough. The table r big enough too.... I will sure to visit again...

We stayed here for 4 nights in Novemeber 07. It is a great place to stay away from the hustle of Hong Kong and is nice and peaceful. The city is only a short ferry trip away so there is no great inconvenience. If you want a lot of nightlife stay in Hong Kong, but if you like to relax at the end of a long day exploring the big city this is the place. It has a terrific beach just around the corner and is not too crowded. The staff were always eager to help and most speak good english. The food was good....nothing flash but a good meal although we did not try their top end buffet which looks really tempting. You also have a selection of small restaurants down at the ferry terminal. We stayed in the old wing...the rooms are very old and basic and are long overdue for a spruce up...the carpet was quite dirty although it was vacuumed daily. We will be happy to stay here again as we are not too fussy and recommend others also consider it. Good value.

A beautiful spot facing the beach in an interesting, quiet area of HK. Great for walking. Just a ferry ride to hectic Central. Cheap bus or more expensive (HK$160) taxi ride across Lantau Island to the airport. Would definitely stay again.

it was my first time in hkg and silvermine was very memorable. Nice place peace and quiet and close to nature. Im coming back this june and stay again at silvermine. I fell inlove with the place. Nice and accomodating staffs

The hotel is a perfect place to stay if you are going to explore the wild nature life of the biggest island in Hong Kong. But it could be better renovated given its beach side location. I think it is the best alternative dwelling place for a retrieve from the busy world if you do not want to stay in the Po Lin Temple and enjoy some good breakfast in the morning. It is a pity there is no play house for the kids. And the food price is too expensive given the ranking of the hotel.

My wife and I were traveling in China and decided to stay at hong kong. We had booked this quaint looking hotel that said it was close to a lot of things. What we were not told is that this hotel is on Lantau Island, the same island that disney land is on. I was disappointed that we had to take an hour ferry ride and way and pay extra to do that when there is a lantau island category, I thnk they mis-categorized this hotel. We really wanted to stay in hong kong and taking 2 hours a day off of our site seeing was no fun. The hotel itself needs a new makeover, I felt like I was staying on a hotel of the 60's. The rooms were tidy but very old looking. The staff were friendly but could have been more attentive. Although it is on the beach and the town is quaint, it is not worth spending more than a day there to see everything. The things to see there are the budda and of course disney land. You could ride a bike to some of them if you are adventerous as it will be around a 10-14 mile ride each way, probably better to take a bus there..

Drive from airport was longer than expected with winding roads through mountain but we enjoyed the slow pace and picturesque view around hotel b; furthermore, there was a feeling of being in mainland China which appeals to our missionary calling. We also enjoyed the tennis court and swimming pool and quick access to the Hong Kong island via ferry.

Excellent Hotel in many ways. Services and food was excellent. Yes the hotel does need a makeover but it does its job well. Location is also perfect and central depending of course on what you are looking for.

Hotel staff had to deal with unusual situation with guests sitting out a typhoon during their stay. They were very helpful and calm during the storm. Renovations happening in one wing and could be good idea if it happens throughout as decor is a bit tired looking, but clean.

"The area is very relaxing next to the beach. However the hotel is divided into the old and new wing. I stayed in the old wing. There are no non-smoking rooms, and the room was extremely smelly and stained with nicotine. The bathroom had a strong mould smell. Not recommended for people with allergies/sensitive"
