No wireless, no phone cell phone reception (verison), no outlets in bathrooms, air conditions hanging out the windows loud, it was like going back in time.

We enjoyed our vacation at the silver sands hotel. I was sure to read all of the reviews before I left and that really helped me prep for vacation. You get what you pay for....and I would go back if I could ever get the same deal. Remember these people are on Island time and that will make things more pleasant. We really enjoyed the pools and the pool bar! The views were awesome and the staff was just fine. Tip them once and they remember you. We also enjoyed the hotel food and the prices were just fine! Bajan food is very tasty. I thought the location was great....away from all traffic and action. If we wanted more action it was a short, easy drive away.

Hotel location is difficult to locate in questionable area on south coast. Semi-private beach is NOT suited to any water sports except short board or kite surfing. Gang of locals hang out on beach just outside hotel grounds and harass guests if they get off the premises. Rooms are rustic to put if mildly, with a/c in the bedroom area only whether you have a room or suite. Decor is tired, but housekeeping is more than adequate when it comes to cleanng. More and bleached bath towels are needed. Suggest you bring extra beach towels for use in bath as well as washcloths (none provided), shampoo and conditioner (none provided). Breakfast items never change, but was included with our room. You get a slip of paper to present when you get your meal (whether it is breakfast or evening buffet) that allows one go round (unlike buffets elsewhere on the island). Everything is paid for using your room card that requires you prepay an amount and replenish as used up. Staff attitude runs from indifferent and incompetent to relatively friendly. Pools were large, but chairs/chaises old and stained. Note that restaurant, bars, etc. are NOT a/c. Mini-mart on premises was convenient and well stocked. Would not stay again as there are so many other hotels with good beaches and better location on island. Get good directions to find this hotel if you rent a car.

You will need to hire a taxi or rent a car if you care to do anything outside of the hotel grounds. There are many ammenities at Silver Sands Resort but greater quality (food, etc) can be found up the west coast of Barbados and is well worth the effort to find. We could not get beach towels from the front desk one day and they wouldn't give us extra bath towels then either so we were stuck using our only 2 bath towels down by the beach. Whirlpools were lukewarm- not even close to hot. Off season travel had the hotel at probably 10% capacity which kept things nice and quiet. The biggest highlight is the ocean and beach at the edge of the property- gorgeous views of the water!

The front desk was friendly, if you could understand what they said. They do not have wash cloths,we asked for them daily and never did see one in 7 days! No tissues either! Our king size bed was two twin beds made separatly and pushed together, with a king size cover over them. And they kept sliding apart. We had to have them come spray for ants in the bathroom on the first & third day. The room appeared as old as I am, though I won't give my age. The swimming pool was completly nasty!! And now for the food! Lets just say that Chef Ramsey would have a heart attack!! It was terrible. I was so disappointed in online travel website on this one!!

Loved the location proximal to St Lawrence Gap, airport and Bridgetown. Reggae maxie is cheapest way around. My wife and really enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and helpful. Close to Oistins for the week-end fish fry rent-a-cars were on the property as well. We will be back next year for our anniversary.

Do to the nature of my stay, I did not have the time to enjoy all the activities available. But just staying in the comfortable rooms is enough for me to give the hotel a second chance. I love that it is located. I is wonderful if you are looking for a relaxing environment.

if you want loud night life, go to miami or mertle beach. if you want peace and an opportunity to "get away from it all," go here. Its nestled in the residential section on the southern tip of the island. no other resorts are around. though all beaches on the island are "public" the one a SS is self contained and private feeling. If you want a "taste" of the island, stay here. The rooms are clean and simple, there is AC. The view is great. we stayed on the west side of the resport and were 20 feet fromt he beach and 50 feet from the ocean. The desk is helpful, and the maid was always nice and fun to talk to. The restaraunt is OK, and the pool, bar and live music during the day is nice. There is a store at the resort that is compatitive with island prices, (milk is cheaper there than at the gas station.) A king bed is two twins pused together, but for the price, this is my ONLY complaint. SS is off by itself, so rent a car if you go, (<300USD for a small 4x4Jimmy) There are tons of $$$$ places to eat but SS is close to the Oistins fish market, where you can eat outside with the local, (fish, sides, and Banks beer for <12USD.) The place is also close to the airport, (taxi threre <15USD) we will stay at silver sands again when we go back.

When we first arrived at our hotel, there was one woman working the fromt desk and there were honestly 30 people in line to check in. We waited almost 2 hours standing in the lobby. When we finally got to our room(ocean view) we were disgusted. The room felt like a jail, all white cement walls with furniture that should have been in the garbage. Our patio door had cracks in it and when we went to pull it open, the whole door handle came off. Besides the not so nice rooms, the pool and bar area were beautiful! The staff was great and friendly! I did read about the drug dealers and yes, they do linger right off our pool area and they are aggravating. The hotel does there best to flee them off but they still did hang around. Overall, we were not satisfied with our room but we loved the pool area and the activities.

The Hotel was ok. It was kind of away from everything. It is located in an area that does not offer anything. The Hotel has a nice swimming pool. The beach is ok but does not offer beach chairs. The restaurants in the Hotel are expensive. they give you a card that you have to put money on in order to buy food and drinks. The drinks are expensive as well. your best bet is to go to St. Lawrence gap, where there are other restaurants to choose from. The problem is that the cab ride cost $$U.S. one way. there is a bus or maxi taxi that you can take which is only $.U.S. or $ BDS. that to me helped out a lot. the only problem with that is that you will have to walk up this long hill to get to it. At day time it feels ok to do. I would not suggest any one doing that at night as it is very dark out there and it seems deserted. That bus also takes you out to Bridgetown for the same price. make sure you can sit up front with the driver because the Bus gets very packed with locals throughout the ride and you might miss your stop. I know because this happen to me coming back from Bridgetown. This Hotel and vacation is primarily for couples or families who just want to stay in the hotel. if you want to have fun then this is not for you. try staying at a hotel in the Gap at leats they have some sort of night life. beware of strangers and overtly friendly people trying to take you places. only deal with reputal people.

To far from all the clubs and restaurants. Always had to take a cab for everything. In the rooms no hair dryers no ironing bord. The staff was rude only a few people wore nice. The pool was dirty towels old chairs broken. Overall I won't stay here again.
