We had a relaxing time. The beach was about 5 minutes away with about a 2 mile running/biking trail. There was a nice, quaint shopping area about a block away.

after reading past reviews, I admit to being concerned. This hotel was obviously just remodeled. Friendly front desk staff, entertaining bartenders and funny bell hop made our stay memorable. Will be back next year.

The staff were incredibly nice and despite bad reviews given to them before it seems they really came around. I wouldn't listen to previous reviews. The hotel is located steps away from downtown entertainment and the beach. This hotel is right smack in the middle of everything in St. Joseph. The downtown area is quaint and enjoyable. The beach was clean and the lighthouse area was enjoyable to watch the sunset. I would recommend this hotel and see myself going back again in the future.

I did not recognize the lobby when we checked in late on Thursday night. The new tile, furniture and finishes have updated the hotel from before. Our room was clean and ready for us upon arrival. Since this is the only place in downtown with a pool, sauna, and hot tub, it is nice especially with kids. Pool was open until 11:00PM and was excellent for the whole family!! This is my favorite part of the hotel when you can go swimming in the middle of Winter. This large pool area was updated, clean, and not crowded any of the times we were there. We came for the Ice festival on this weekend. The best part about this location is that you can park your car and walk to everywhere. We got a great deal on this room and had an incredible weekend. Lots of great places to eat and shop. I did not try out the fitness center but it looks as if they have all new equipment in there. The free internet connection had a great connection in the room and was fast for getting e-mail, etc. We had a balcony room(too cold to hang out on) with a view of the lake and sunsets. They have free pastries, cereal, toast and coffee and juices in the morning. On the morning of the ice festival we were able to sleep in late, and walk out our door to the festival. Our room had all new updated furniture, mattresses, pillows and bedspreads. It looks like the hallways and rooms are being recarpeted for this Summer season. I plan on coming back in the Summer for the location, value, and the new look of the property. Great place for a weekend or quick getaway even in the off months.

We went for a day at the beach and for the shopping in St Joseph. The hotel was clean and close to both the beach and the shops. It was great price for it's location. My kids loved the indoor pool.

I stayed at this hotel when it was a Clarion and my last two stays were aweful. I stopped coming here for business until a friend told me of the new management and remodel. I now do not have one bad comment of this place!! I t is not only the place I will come to on business but I will refer my business associates. Clean, friendly. convienent location, great pool, walking to restaraunts and bars, shopping just steps away. My wife and kids will come with me next time to enjoy. Only problem had was I couldnt get my wireless laptop working in my room and they sent up a bellhop. I didnt have much trust a kid could help me, besides,I work in the computer industry. He was friendly and helpful. He had it up and working in no time. Highly recommend over the over priced hotel down the street from this hotel. Better service and better value.

This hotel was quite nice and loctaion is GREAT- very close to the beach! We often go to St. Joseph, Michigan and this is now one of our favorite places to stay. However, it is a bit pricy on weekends and breakfast was really slow- only one lady doing it all.

My grandchildren came to town for vacation and wanted to stay near the beach. I was so pleasantly suprised at the level of service and detail. The new management seems to be making changes and made herself available to us for several minor needs. The bellhop gave us a ten minute detail of what was happening in town that week and where to go to eat. He even came back later to help my grandson with his wireless laptop. We already made reservations for Christmans vacation. Highly recommend to couples, families and tourists. Terrific pool area!!!!!!!

Hidden charge of $1.50 a day for a in room safe. $71.00 room a day for being one block from the beach.

This hotel is very close to Silver Beach and the dowtown shopping areas. Although, I do feel the rates for the room are to sky high for a family to stay in. Especially Venetain weekend. The room was good, pool area was clean and re-modled. Staff and security were good. We had no problems with anything, except for what we paid for the weekend.

I think past reviews have been unfair. Our room was cleaner than a lot of 3+ star hotels I've stayed at. I wasn't expecting much after the reviews I read, but was pleasantly surprised. There was a strong air freshener odor when entering the lobby through the back door, but it was only in the small alcove. Our room had no odor and was very clean. I would definately stay again. The location was great and within walking distance to the beach, shopping, and nightlife. Our stay included breakfast which was also better than a lot of higher end places I've stayed. Great value for a 2+ star hotel.

When given room as I walked in, the room smelled and my feet were squishing water out of the carpet because it had just been cleaned. I called front desk and asked for different room, there were none to be had. Had to leave window open to let smell out, and carpet still was not dry after a two day stay.

This hotel has been under going renovation for most of this year. A number of improvement have been seen, such as the return of balconies access to the rooms, retiled lobby area and newer carpeting in areas. New and updated areas of the hotel are pleasant. The pool area was ok, the hot tub area was in poor condition. Cleanliness in and around the hotel has improved. There have been issues with the staff not being as friendly or concerned about visitors but there has been some improvement in that area. If continued improvements to location continue, the hotel should be a very nice place to stay once again. I do recommend it for location. It is in the right spot if you want to be in St. Joseph.

This is a clean, decent hotel, located in the heart of Saint Joseph. Its ideal location takes some of the sting out of the nightly rates charged during peak times (most of the month of July). Unfortunately, for the price, this may not be the first choice for families in the future.
